Best shoes to wear in Orlando theme parks

RichTeaAreCrap · 15/09/2011 18:14

I am off to Orlando soon and it should be hot. I really need some comfy shoes to wear to walk about in. Last time I went I spent all my time looking for plasters to put on my poor feet that ended up blistered and very sore.

I don't really like crocs, but the flipflop style don't look 'too' bad.

I don't want to wear trainers all day because it will be hot.

What should I wear? Help me find some nice looking stylish shoes.

Ideally not a new pair of anything. Something comfy! A pair of old favourites.

I wore crocs (not my favourite look) but the most comfy and practical.

I would avoid sling backs and flip flops because of the risk of loosing them on some rides.

mirpuppet · 15/09/2011 18:58

When went in April I wore trainers. My feet were not to hot and I did not have the risk of losing a shoe on a ride.

flibbertigibbert · 15/09/2011 18:59

I wore these when I went recently. As comfortable as trainers but not as hot and a bit nicer looking.

Definitely a place to dress for comfort rather than style

RichTeaAreCrap · 15/09/2011 19:08

I have birkenstocks and they are comfy, but I think after hours walking around the park they may become a bit uncomfortable - they are very hard soled aren't they.

Interesting that crocs flipflops were so comfy - I have heard great things about how comfy they are.

I ended up wearing trainers last time I went, but the weather was cold so it was ok - it shoudl be hot this time and I think my feet will end up too hot in them.

Flat, comfy sandals. It might hard to find them this time of year, though.

I get mine from Next's Heavenly Soles or M&S Contemporary Footgloves or Clarks.

You honestly won't care about being uber trendy. Everyone is in trainers or flip flops. Just wear something cool and comfy.

I've got some old Nine West gladiator sandals that are actually really comfortable and have worn those both times (that's why I can't bring myself to chuck them, they will never give me a blister). I agree with Shirley - whatever is well worn in and completely comfortable.

We went in August and I wore flip flops or some rather fetching Regatta Sandals!

yesbutnobut · 15/09/2011 22:12

I wore my fit flops in August this year and they were brilliant even in the thunderstorms. Basically you need something you know are comfortable. Fashion is not a consideration! A lot of people are very sensibly in trainers and socks as you do walk/stand so much. Have a great time (I'm envious)

blueskydrinking · 15/09/2011 22:31

My friend has some of http://www.crocs.co.uk/crocs-cleo-iii/11216,en_GB,pd.html?cid=13S&cgid=women-footwear-flipflopsSandals&prefn1=refinementColor&prefv1=White these , they actually look so good and she was so enthusiastic about how comfortable they are that I was annoyed I hadn't found them first earlier in the summer.

RichTeaAreCrap · 15/09/2011 22:45

I do have a pair of really comfy gladiators but dont really want to wear those all day, was going to save them to wear in the evenings when we go out.

I think I will have to go hunting - wrong time to look for sandals though isn't it!

Right. I went I. Freezing december and agonised before thus. It was so cold i wore lace up shoes the whole time

I think. People. Over egg the walking thing. It's not that far! Like a day out shopping. Just factor that idea in

ireallyagreewithyou · 16/09/2011 07:44

No one dresses up to go out. At all. Or fact ever

HappyHome · 16/09/2011 09:22

I was there in October last year and took a pair of Hush Puppy flat bronze gladiator sandals. Very comfy, not one blister and looked good with shorts in the day and maxi dresses at night.

I am vvvv Envy at you going!Smile

RichTeaAreCrap · 16/09/2011 09:47

Fishy, what lace up shoes did you wear? I was there the december before and it was freezing then too. I had to buy gloves while I was there.

I know that nobody dresses up but dont want to wear trainers all day and night.

It better not be freezing when I go, I was really disappointed last time when it was so cold. I had to buy lots of stuff there because I took mostly summer clothes.

I went in June and it was hot but I still wore trainers. I didn't on the first day but soon changed my mind after my feet were throbbing by the afternoon! It also meant that DH and I (this was pre-dc) could move fast - we were there at park opening and easily outstripped the (admittedly rather large...) Americans to the best rides and had loads of goes before it got busy.

I did take some nice sandals and wore them in the evening when going out for cocktails.

Happy days!

startail · 16/09/2011 11:19

I wore the soft comfy flat Clarks sandals with Velcro, girls wore groove, DH wore is comfiest pair of sandals. Don't worry no one will be looking at your feet.
No one will be looking that far down, because they would also see the average American's legs as everyone wears shorts.

startail · 16/09/2011 11:20

Crocs ipodAngry

Acekicker · 16/09/2011 14:56

Another vote for the crocs flat sandals here. I alternated crocs sandals and croc flip flops and had no blisters or any problems. A lot of the sandals will be on sale this time of year and I'd say they're worth every penny.

ireallyagreewithyou · 16/09/2011 15:57

Judy some fake timberland style ones. We were SO cold.

mathanxiety · 16/09/2011 16:19

Here's your month ahead weather prediction for Orlando. I think Blueskydrinking's crocs would be ideal.

LordFlasheart · 21/09/2012 10:35

I just bought the Crocs Cleo sandals at link above for Florida, after reading a lot of recommendations on The Dibb.

They arrived today and are so comfy, I havent taken them off since I put them on to try them! And they look ok too- am really pleased!

Now I need to get DP some Crocs...
