Please help me find a couple of winter warm dresses.

Hi, I don't want to be stuck in jeans and jumpers this winter. I want to be feminine but warm.

Can you help me find some warm dresses? Either wooly warm long sleeved or dresses that can easily go with cardis (and help me find some cardis). I am Top Heavy (shoulders, not boobs) so need something that kicks out around the hip to balance me out. I don't want to spend more than £40 on each dress but would stretch to more for something fabulous that I could wear again and again! Don't mind colours but not used to wearing anything bright and in your face.

Thanks in advance for any help :)

Does anyone know if the WC discount codes work on top of that reduction please?

KristinaM · 16/09/2011 09:59

I have the white company dress - the navy one with button cuffs. It is lovely because it can be dressed up ( with white cami and silver necklace) or down with tights and boots. I think I'll wear it a lot over the winter months so cost per wear will make it a bargain ( try that argument when something is too expensive! you can usually con yourself)

ladybutterfly1 · 16/09/2011 12:41

i cant believe all the dresses that u showed im of to the shops wheres myhand bag Grin

CaptainNancy · 16/09/2011 13:29

MMmm- kristina- will you handwash it, or dry clean? Only thing putting me off tbh, as handwash things tend to lurk in the basket for months a while.

meltedchocolate · 16/09/2011 13:38

That is the only thing that concerns me too. Not the handwashing, I will do it on the handwash cycle in the washing machine Blush but it's how to dry it? It will come out soaking and will take aaaages to dry and could end up smelly!

Ah- I could put it on a wool wash do you think? (v old washer, might not be gentle enough...)

KristinaM · 16/09/2011 14:35

Ahem, i try to wash very infrequently and then put in machine. V short spin, roll in towels, pat, unroll and put on the aga.i had a merino wool one from white co last year and wore it LOADS. Pillimg was more of a problem thna washing, had to use one of these little shaver things a few times

KristinaM · 16/09/2011 14:39

Chocolate, im just having the wine. No fire yet. Though its bloody freezing here in scotland today so i may give in this weekend

CaptainNancy · 16/09/2011 14:57

meltedchoc- wool and silk dry v quickly IME tbh, so shouldn't go smelly!

There is btw a v similar tunic length wool mix tunic/dress at sainsburys atm btw- washed well so far, though no buttons up the sleeves (I have the grey one). It was £18 IIRC.

I see that Tethers has bowed gracefully out of this, now you've all got obsessed by the WC one! Stop sulking Tethers. Grin

Does anybody know if the 20% off knitwear is for purchases in store as well?

tethersend · 16/09/2011 17:39

I can't join in. I find it too painful Grin

vanillagorilla · 16/09/2011 19:11

I love that dress too Tethers. Have you seen any cheaper versions of v-neck knitted dress around? [hopeful emoticon]. I have one from Oasis from about three years ago, it has cashmere in, very deep v-neck, and perfectly suits my rounder new shape post baby..... Failing that we could go halves on the dress and share it?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/09/2011 20:07

I like your thinking, Vanilla! Do you happen to be a size small in WC sizing and live in Birmingham? :)

tethersend · 16/09/2011 20:18

Oh vanilla, the pain is not because i love the dress- quite the opposite, I'm afraid...

Remus, grey leather biker jacket in river island...

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/09/2011 20:20

You are a bloody marvel, woman. Thank you. Thank you. I think that may just be THE ONE. Will have a look on Sunday. Deffo can't afford that AND the dress though. :(

vanillagorilla · 16/09/2011 20:28

Remus -Birmingham is do-able from where I live....(from Birmingham originally though). Size small, ha - if I want to wear the dress around one leg [sceptical].

Tethers - I apologise for getting the wrong end of the stick....that'll learn me for skim reading threads and just clicking on links nilly-willy...

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/09/2011 20:33

You could start a new trend in legwear, Vanilla.

Tethers - don't get too excited; I haven't seen it irl yet!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/09/2011 20:40

Is it wrong to quite like the look of this?

tethersend · 16/09/2011 20:44

Don't worry Vanilla- I am being cross and contrary Grin

Remus, you better bloody like it Wink Although I do quite like biker jackets made out of fabric, and that is nice.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/09/2011 20:47

I think both of them would depend on what the colour looks like. If the RI one is greige rather than true grey it will look dreadful on me and if the red one is 'too' red it will swamp me. I will report back!

meltedchocolate · 16/09/2011 21:11

Both jackets are gorgeous but tethers is amazing. I want! That really is out of my budget though.

Kristina I am also in Scotland and have now gaven in to having fires. They're lovely :o

Tethers I mean no offence, I always really like your suggestions (also admire how quickly you come up with them all and how willing you are to help people) but the WC dress was almost exactly the picture I had in my head, right length and everything. Sorry! :)
