Is leopard print a very bad idea?

I really fancy some leopard print shoes or boots to wear with jeans or a black dress and opaques. But I don't want to look like Bet Lynch circa 1980. Any thoughts?

Dune leopard print heels,
black suede wedges with leopard on the wedge from Hobbs
Leopard belt from Hobbs.

Love my leopard print shoes :-)

voiceofnoreason · 08/09/2011 15:24

and i forgot some leopard print pony skin flatties from dune - go with everything and anything. They are wearing out now so may have to get another pair Grin

voiceofnoreason · 08/09/2011 15:26

MissB - you got a link to the Dune leopardy Heels - hoping we haven't got the same pair ;-)

MissRead · 08/09/2011 15:40

Oh I am drooling now at some of the lovely descriptions of hooker clothes leopard print items. Black suede and leopard wedges sound gorgeous.

i got em a while ago - they are like this but suede with a rounder almond toe, and slightly higher. If you gets my gist...Grin

MissBeehiving · 08/09/2011 16:06

I think we have similiar tastes voice Smile

They're not this season but similiar to this

I think blondes can do leopard print but grey LP is better near my face.

HallnotOates · 08/09/2011 16:09

oh fgs
mumsnet will dislike anything that sint a chufging white sutff tunic

Ifancyashandy · 08/09/2011 16:24

I would rather go naked than wear anything from The White Stuff.

Mumsnut · 08/09/2011 16:27

MissBeehiving · 08/09/2011 16:31

Oh, yes and I've just ordered this

ImeldaM · 08/09/2011 16:34

I really fancy some leopard print ballet flats but having trouble finding some cheap enough to buy & only wear occasionally but not crap New Look or something similar.

Think they were more 'in fashion' last year but I didn't fancy them before, now think they would jazz up an otherwize plain outfit.

MissRead · 08/09/2011 16:40

Yes I was thinking of ballet flats although now I am lusting after those Dune ones, damn Mumsnet and its stylish users tempting me with their animal print items.

HallnotOates · 08/09/2011 16:55

Dune is just dolcis though. And crap quality

MrsCampbellBlack · 08/09/2011 17:05

Oh I'm blonde and wear leopard print.

I particularly like it with red or with stripes.

MrsBradleyCooper · 08/09/2011 17:57

Is it? I'd always wondered what happened to Dolcis. Good business idea - change name and double the price Hmm

LeBOF · 08/09/2011 18:05

I don't think Dune is Dolcis, is it? Dolcis was still going until quite recently.

bananatrifle · 08/09/2011 18:07

Bad idea.

Unless you're 18

MissBeehiving · 08/09/2011 18:14

Oh what piffle banana Smile

Not being 18 is not a reason to do sackcloth and ashes.

MrsCampbellBlack · 08/09/2011 18:14

Am loving that leopard print is a bad idea unless one is 18 Smile

I do tend to forget that once you hit 35 - thats it - only sensible clothes allowed Wink

lifesabeech · 08/09/2011 18:20

MissRead - could try the tiger ribbon instead!!

blondassassin · 08/09/2011 18:26

Surely if [http://www.marksandspencer.com/Una-Sleeve-Animal-Blouse-Camisole/dp/B0055WGD22?ie=UTF8&ref=sr_1_11&nodeId=43007030&sr=1-11&qid=1315502483 per una do leopard print]] then it must be allowed for the over 18s? Wink

Love a bit of leopard print myself. Like MrsCB am partial to it with stripes, and mostly wear it as an acccessory i.e. shoes, scarf or belt.

bananatrifle · 08/09/2011 18:26

There are much more lovely things to wear post 35 (or whatever age) besides animal print.

No sackcloth and ashes necessary :)

Bonsoir · 08/09/2011 18:26

I have some leopard print ballet flats and think they are the AW equivalent of flat gold sandals in summer - they go with everything and are just sort of necessary, somehow.

CointreauVersial · 08/09/2011 18:26

I am currently wearing a leopard-print dress (OK, it is from Boden and in a fetching shade of kiwi-vomit). I like it, and I don't care who knows it!

blondassassin · 08/09/2011 18:27

Gah buggered up the link:

per una doing leopard print Grin
