Right, need a winter coat right now - need help! Thinking parka?

School run this morning made me realise it's definitely not summer anymore and I need a new coat. I really like parkas but am intensely fussy. It would probably need to be green and very toasty.

Any suggestions? Grin

Boden has a nice one here plus there is a 20% off code floating around here at the mo...

Nagoo · 06/09/2011 11:06

I just bought this for £70

merrell haven

haven't recieved it yet mind. Better be waterproof.

cherryburton · 06/09/2011 11:14

That Boden one is nice but looks a bit flimsy if we have another winter of subzero temperatures...

Quite like the merrell one, and this looks great but expensive. (And down jackets aren't waterproof, are they?)

I think you'd only be able to wear that when it was absolutely freezing and you'd boil on ordinary days.

Try Sheactive. They've got a sale on ATM.

cherryburton · 06/09/2011 11:21

Quite like this one

And this one is nice but Joe Browns stuff seems to be a bit shoddy for the money...

top one nicer but I'm not falling over with excitement yet :)

Nagoo · 06/09/2011 11:33

You want to ask the dog walking women about coats. They know what's warm.

Popbiscuit · 06/09/2011 11:39

The coziest parka on the planet

TapselteerieO · 06/09/2011 11:47

The merrell one is very warm and completely waterproof, it falls down on style, I know, but it is so worth it for the feeling of wearing an electric blanket - I have worn mine over two very harsh Scottish winters, but it is very warm, so you need less layers underneath.

Nagoo · 06/09/2011 11:48

For £709 I'd want it to have a built in radiator.

CountBapula · 06/09/2011 11:50

Popbiscuit £709? Shock

TapselteerieO · 06/09/2011 11:55

This looks more lightweight and is described as a car coat, it is much cheaper elsewhere, saw it for £98 in Field+Trek.

TapselteerieO · 06/09/2011 12:00

The Wakefield got good reviews from some mners.

TapselteerieO · 06/09/2011 12:04

www.didriksons.com/collection.asp?c=1&sizeId=2Didriksons lovely and will do a great job, but only if you are making a trip to Scandinavia...?

TapselteerieO · 06/09/2011 12:06

parka - I think I need to open a shop in Scotland selling this stuff, it would be great.

TapselteerieO · 06/09/2011 12:09

oops, should have checked those links neither worked, if you select the women's collection there is lots of choice.

I tried to link to the women's crystal parka and the celeste parka.

TapselteerieO · 06/09/2011 12:13

celeste parka

cherryburton · 06/09/2011 12:36

I like this from River Island.

That celeste one looks good, drawing the line at the £709 one though - it's about £700 out of my price range! Grin

Quite like trad, moddy parkas...

TapselteerieO · 06/09/2011 13:16

I like the RI one, it is a lovely style, but I am too practical for fashion coats, it wouldn't keep me anywhere near warm or dry enough here, but would be good for autumn/spring.

hettie · 06/09/2011 13:59

you didn't mention budget but this is both warm and waterproof....

lulahrose · 06/09/2011 14:22
