Fly Mol Low Wedge Boots

Am currently scoping out the possibilities for a new pair of knee high black winter boots. My existing ones are from Hobbs with a hard sole and 1" heel and my feet are always agony by the end of the day.

So I want something with a rubber sole, not too many buckles/details and ample room in the leg for a larger calf. I've spotted these Anyone got them? Are they comfy, what are they like size wise and are they ample on the calf? Quality? Thanks! Any other suggestions welcome too!

oh that's a shame - they looked adjustable with the buckle but are they not? I think my legs are at the upper end of normal, i.e. I can get into most Hobbs boots and some Toast ones. Also not keen on the fact they are not waterproof - living in Scotland so that is a requirement!

They were very narrow on me when I tried them last winter, and I would say my legs are actually fairly slim. Sorry. Sad

Don't know about width, but ime, Fly boots are very much NOT waterproof. Such a shame, as I love the styles, but can't buy again after having soggy feet last winter.

I have them, live in Scotland and only wear them on very dry days, even if it has just stopped raining they let in when walking along a wet pavement. Very much a fashion boot but at over inflated prices! (Mine were the Office bargain ones that we all went a bit mad for so I am not sad I only paid £40 for them).

DM's might be better, similar style but I haven't tried them, just imagine they would withstand Scottish weather. I have a pair of leather look black boots from DP that have withstood many Scottish downpours, £40 about 6 years ago, with a block heel, military style, and they are completely past it now, but I would buy them again.

Other than that I am looking to buy some Merrell boots this year, not as smart but they will keep me warm and dry.

I think these are the ones I got last winter - I got the patent ones. Haven't worn them yet - but I could get them on my large calves - you can adj the strap - if you wear black leggings or the like - you can't see that the buckle is 'wide'.

But I wouldn't even consider wearing them when wet - for dry/ dress up days only.

I have the fly biker type boots, and yes they definitely leak. In fact, I don't think I've ever had dry knee high boots, but the fitflop boots I got in the spring sale seem ok, but haven't had a proper testing due to the rather fab weather.

I have a pair and they are very comfy but yes they are skinny! I must admit I have just bought some fitflop cloggs for work and have been looking at the boots as they are simply THE most comfy shoes in the world! Boots look good as well. Good luck!

I bought some of those a year or so back when they were very cheap, via a MN thread. They are utterly shite. I have two pairs and both a) leak and b) have the oles coming away at the toe. Really really rubbish. I wouldn't touch another pair with a bargepole.

And they are narrow at the calf (but I have narrow legs)

I got the £40 bargains as well. They look really shabby now but I don't really look after stuff. However, they are extremely comfortable if you have back trouble and I've never noticed mine to leak and have worn them in all sorts of weather (hence shabbiness). I would buy again if cheap anywhere for back preserving qualities. Would not pay full price though, total rip-off

I bought Dr Marten Elena boots last year and they are fab. Lasted during the horrific winter we had (Ireland). With a pair of ski socks they were toasty warm and dry even during the heavy heavy snow and best of all with a bit of polish they look as good as new.

Have you looked at Duo for boots? You buy them by calf size so they're always a perfect fit.

My last two pairs have both lasted two winters. If you're not near a shop they have a measuring guide and you can order online.

Don't wait too long though - they sell out of common combinations pretty quickly. I'm just looking for my next pair now.

Thanks for all the tips. I'll have a look at the Duo website - there is actually a shop where I live and I went in there and thought the boots looked a bit low quality for the price but that was a while back. I think DM's and FitFlop boots would be comfortable but I'm looking for something a bit smarter - I have black Uggs that will do me for slouchy days, but I want to be able to wear these boots with a dress for work AND not have sore feet. I'm asking too much, aren't I.....

I just got a pair of boots from m&s. £95 and they are gorgeous. Plus they do wider calf fitting ones (mine a normal calf width and are generous-ish)

Tracyk, my calves aren't the slimmest, I think 39cm circumference when I measured them, but they do give too.

They are quite smart for DM's and several people I know have bought them.

Have you looked at Timberland boots? Is the wedge heel non-negotiable (i.e. will you do flats?)

I'm on the lookout for new grey boots and LOVE LOVE LOVE the look of those Elenas....thank you for sharing, moanna. They're the first I've seen that I like. Btw I also live in (N)Ireland, but going to Dublin next week....do you know anywhere that stocks them or did you buy online? Would like to try before I buy if possible, but then I'm preg at the mo so maybe swollen a bit so maybe this is a bad time for me to buy?

I bought mine from eBay, they were half the price of the other retailers at the time. I only see one pair on there now at £109.99. If you shop around you should get them more cheaply as they are discontinued now.... I'm not sure of where you would be able to try before you buy though.

I have lost weight since buying them, but wear ski socks under them. Warm and comfy!
