I like their stuff but my husband reckons it's very middle aged...what do you think?

OP posts:
glassescase · 02/07/2011 20:13

He's right.

LynetteScavo · 02/07/2011 20:17

It's OK if you are middle aged.

jamaisjedors · 02/07/2011 20:52

He is totally right. Even my mum (66) thinks a lot of the stuff is too old for her! Grin But she says it IS comfy! Is that what you're looking for? Wink

JoleneJoleneJoleneJoleeene · 02/07/2011 20:54

Ha ha ha ha. Lands end is beige elasticated waists all the way!

LordOfTheFlies · 02/07/2011 21:00

I bought a soft, finne micro fleece blazer/cardigan jacket from there.
I like to think it's more 'Good Housekeeping Magazine reader' than coffin-dodger.

And a soft-lined fleece and a skort (shorts& skirt thing) for DD
Fleece slipper-boots for DCs

Sizes are USA sizes so need to convert.

Guess I'm middle-agedBlush

magicmelons · 02/07/2011 21:02

MIL wears it head to toe and buys it for fil too. She looks good but she's in late 50s and lives in the countryside.

OllieinOrange · 02/07/2011 21:06

Some bits from their Canvas range are ok, esp the current sale stuff - here

strawberryjelly · 02/07/2011 21:06

Nooooooooooo!

I am mid 50s and would not be seen dead in it. My Mum likes it but she is 84.

Elastic waist brigade generally though winter anoraks etc are possibly just okay.

ilovemydogandMrObama · 02/07/2011 21:06

I get the kids stuff from Lands End in the USA. Usually uniform stuff and they do great kids jackets.

But not especially stylish, no.

meditrina · 02/07/2011 21:11

OK - I surrender to middle age

Their jeans are good, as is their swimwear. Some T-shirts are fine as unexciting wardrobe basics. Sometimes other stuff is good - fleeces especially - just keep an intelligent eye out.

The new children's range is very good indeed.

noddyholder · 02/07/2011 21:14

no

JemimaMop · 02/07/2011 21:19

Their t-shirts are good quality and wash well, but they aren't exactly stylish. Fine for everyday though.

I really like the kids stuff though, especially at sale prices.

DonaAna · 02/07/2011 21:36

Land's End defines frumpy. Good quality, but you should only wear it if you are over 60 and want to look really average. It's the GAP of older adults.

BadPoet · 02/07/2011 21:40

I like the swimwear, which comes in long bodied. That's all (apart from kids stuff).

NorksAreMessy · 02/07/2011 21:41

Noooooooo!
Please don't go there, they will sell you a polo shit (typo), and before you know it, you will be saying 'those slacks look comfy' and drinking Horlicks instead of prosecco.

bigTillyMint · 02/07/2011 21:41

Wear it with your Cotton Traders polo shirt Grin

Ixia · 02/07/2011 21:50

I love them purely for selling as crisp white, fitted cotton shirt in tall for my long torso. I occasionally get plain basic Ts for me and OH, unlike Marks they don't shrink.

Their kids stuff is good quality at a reasonable price

trixymalixy · 02/07/2011 22:17

Nooooo, even my 60 year old mum wouldn't be seen dead in it!!

polyhymnia · 03/07/2011 00:19

Very frumpy, I'm afraid.

follyfoot · 03/07/2011 00:26

Clothes frumpy but they do the best down jackets in winter. And not frumpy. Even my DD says that she would wear the one I got last winter.

goingmadinthecountry · 03/07/2011 00:34

I'm 47 so I guess middle aged. Won't even be wearing their stuff when I'm 60 I hope. Just go to normal shops - they do let us lod folk in you know!

goingmadinthecountry · 03/07/2011 00:36

Jemima, why would you be happy with a frumpy t shirt for every day? Only wear stuff you love, even if for putting the bins out.

goingmadinthecountry · 03/07/2011 00:37

And I'm not even trendy!!

lucykate · 03/07/2011 00:41

it is middle aged, sorry!. but, they do great coats and the kids stuff is good too. i live near to one of the outlet shops, got an unlined, summer weight waterproof jacket, even has a hood, was £15. actually, the swimwear is good too, really does help suck in the old jelly belly.

satine · 03/07/2011 00:43

Down coats - FAB. Children's snow boots - EXCELLENT. Even basic T shirts - fine.
But let's face it - no man will pursue you breathlessly, BEGGING to tear your clothes off and have you RIGHT THERE in anything from Land's End. Soz.
