Time for a new thread.....

OP posts:
ApuskiDusky · 01/08/2011 09:05

Just heard mixed news about the fire - the couple got out, amazingly, considering the state of the house, but the lady has bad burns and her husband is also in hospital with smoke inhalation. And the house will need to be demolished, it's too badly damaged. Reeling a bit from it all tbh.

Sorry, don't want to be bring the mood down!

Bloss, i like both of those.

petitdonkey · 01/08/2011 09:10

Red - so happy for you that you've settled in so well. I would love to live in a city again..... Envy

Apuski - truly awful, I hope they are okay.

So I have managed to gain a huge amount of weight in the past three weeks - why is it so easy to gain yet so hard to shift??? DH and I are away for our anniversary this week then out for another no doubt boozy dinner party on saturday. I keep telling myself the diet will begin after this but our social life is manic (which I love) and there's always the next thing. I need some motivation and some self control!!

petitdonkey · 01/08/2011 09:11

Cross posted apuski - so glad they got out but they must be traumatised.

blossoming · 01/08/2011 10:51

Ooh ants, mine are sharkskin. I think they would really suit you. Btw have a look at the Kettlewell website to see what colours suit a Spring. I have diagnosed ants a Spring. Gorgeous peaches and cream complexion.

Saw a very stylish lady crossing the millenium bridge on Saturday morning in a navy pair. Come on, who was it? Own up!! I was the one with a strapping 6 yr old ds sitting in a raspberry maclaren being pushed by dd (20 months)! Post tantrum - the shame!!

petit, I'm with you on the weight gain. I am about to embark on my patented, tried and tested baked potato diet for the next fortnight till I go away. But it is great to be sociable, and it doesn't happen all the time. To me anyway.

Hope you're having a nice cup of tea apuski.

AntPants1 · 01/08/2011 11:31

Thanks bloss. have had a look on a couple of websites for Agnes. Are yours mid rise? Thanks for tip about kettle well website. Will head over now! Am totally convinced about having colours done. Have also persuaded my sister and mum and have found a lady a couple of streets away. Will do it when I get back from my summer holiday at the end of August - ie before the AW stuff really starts arriving in the shops.

Thanks for compliment bloss. Am feeling all fuzzy! Could see no evidence of any weight gain though. Loving the idea of the bloss baked potato diet. Has a catchy ring to it! Funily enough put a load of baking potatoes in my shopping trolley at the supermarket yesterday!

Reine did you make pre school meet yesterday? Sorry I was not there. Was with my mum buying plants for my window boxes! Did you find my sister? Otherwise perhaps we could meet up in the park? Are you around friday pm?

WAN how are you feeling my lovely? I certainly did not suffer like you but I did get morning sickness and was sick everywhere! So really feel for you. Rotten. Does it help knowing that it means you have a lovely healthy bean fighting your body for space?!

carciofi hope Dublin was good?

pickledsiblings · 01/08/2011 11:41

Hello All Smile

Congratulations ReallyGrumpy on the birth of your DD. Looking forward to your new name, I predict ReallySleepy.

Apuski, great news on the house front. Glad your neighbours survived the fire.

Red, so pleased that you have got off to a flying start.

Roary, I too didn't realise that you had 'gone'. Is this the big relocation around DH's dream job? How did you cope with saying goodbye to your job, I know you loved it? Good luck with getting the broadband sorted.

Bloss, I love baked potatoes, what about you Petit??

Lovely w/e at friends house, lots of woodland walks and too much champagne. Glad you had a nice w/e too Marsha.

Off to sort out Boden returns now, catch ya later.

[Ollie, well done on the Agnes. Ants, get ye to Donna Ida.]

AntPants1 · 01/08/2011 11:46

Ooh bloss have just been to kettle well website. Am loving all the colours I am "allowed" to wear! Such a relief I am allowed buttercup as I bought this top from topshop on saturday

www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&langId=-1&storeId=12556&catalogId=33057&parent_category_rn=&categoryId=208524&productId=2529357

I cant remember who originally linked to it but thank you I love it. I went to west field to see bridesmaids - very funny but I was watching lots of it between my fingers!! Anyway topshop is right next to the cinema and I sort of fell in. Last one in my size. Fate no!!!!

blossoming · 01/08/2011 12:40

That is a lovely top ants. And I love buttercup yellow, although sadly not for me.
On the Agnes subject. I liked them months before, but the cost and the 'low rise' description put me off. But really they're fine, about 8.5 inch rise I think. Just below navel. Sharkskin or navy would look good with your new top!

wan, hope you're feeling okay. Miss your posts.

pickled, I lost the dc3 baby weight by having a baked potato every lunch time for about 3 months! A medium sized one, then whatever the rest of the family were having as a filling (ie bolognese, chicken stew..). It really came off. And this was before I upped the stakes and avoided sugar. It does help if you fill the rest of your plate with that lovely bistro salad, the one with beetroot in, and some cherry tomatoes.
Today I had prawns with a carefully measured 1tbs mayonnaise (100kcal!!), and half tbs of reduced sugar ketchup .
They had sausage stew. Couldn't face it!

When is carciofi back from Dublin?

blossoming · 01/08/2011 13:00

ants, one final Agnes word: these are mine. Some sizes left.

petitdonkey · 01/08/2011 13:25

Baked potato diet sounds like my idea of heaven!! Can I have it with Lurpack, grated cheese and salad cream??? Maybe a bit of coleslaw? Or maybe chilli, cheese and sour cream?? No? Where am I going wrong??? What did you have for tea Bloss?

I think that I am going to do WW again, it's worked for me before and I like that I can bank points and binge drink splurge a bit at the weekend.

Am dying to have my colours done, think I will need to wait until September though when I have some child free days. I'm not convinced I'm a winter though (jealous of Ants as a spring)....

blossoming · 01/08/2011 13:49

Hmm petit!! Nigella said in How to Eat, to buy strong cheddar and measure out 25g (100cals). But yes, no lurpak. You could try low cal creme fraiche instead of soured cream though. I don't know what I'll have for tea. Scrambled egg on toast maybe. But it's that time of the month and I don't have the same appetite as usual.

OllieinOrange · 01/08/2011 14:25

Popping in to say hi. Just spent the day at a nice park nearby with friend who is visiting with 2 DC. Lovely to see her again. Now need to re-stock at supermarket - you forget how much food you get through with visitors!

Ants join the Agnes club - I'm a convert but need some suitabe tops to go with mine. What is everyone else planning on wearing them with over A/W? I'm still not convinced about how my bum looks in them but love them from the front!
Apuski thats terrible news. Obviously glad the couple got out, how frightening for everyone.

I just brought this dress from the GP summer colection here and whilst buying a few bits for DS1s bday yesterday picked up 3 jumpers from the sale in Zara - all 7.95e each - got a navy fitted polo neck, grey round neck with 3/4 seeves and an oatmeal v neck with lovely rows of buttons on the wrists. At that price, it seemed a sensible thing to do!

Lots and lots of autumn colours about in the shops - lovely if they suit you but glad I stocked up on greys and blues (summer colours) over the last year!

Saw some black suede wedges courts in a shop which looked nice - bit like this here but you know how I have no shoe-sense whatsoever....

Fellow avid library book borrowers, I have just finished and really enjoyed always tomorrow, by Pam Weaver. Post war story. Loved it.

blossoming · 01/08/2011 16:31

Sorry, There's Always Tomorrow.

wideawakenurse · 01/08/2011 21:33

Hello.

RG Congratulations on the arrival of yuor baby girl. Hope you are doing ok.

Thank you for all your get well wishes. I am doing ok, just feeling so sick. Same thing happened last time I was pregnant, and it all stopped at 10 weeks. Here's hoping this will be the same.

Despite hardly eating in the last 2 weeks, I have gained 4 pounds. Now, that is unfair. I am ashmed to say that I am not looking stylish of late. However, I did bloat in the first few months previously and then it all seemed to calm down.

I have not kept up well with the thread. Our laptop is broken and we are awaiting repair due to DS spilling tea over it. Also, I had to put my iphone into the shop as it has been playing up, so I have some 1980's style replacment currently. the girl in Vodafone looked at me like I was mental when I asked, 'So, does it have 3G'?

So I am only getting to use DH's work laptop when I can at the moment.

Once I am back connected, I will be back. Fully. Grin

Does anyone know when the next Gap 30% is due? Am considering some maternity cropped trousres and some skinnies from there.

Oh, I would be up for an October meet up, most dates are ok for me. Providing I can still fit out of the door by then.

anniemac You are working hard and it's understandable there would be ups and downs. Miele sounds great. Our washing machine was the last thing we got when we moved here and we were on our last pennies and bought a cheapie Hotpoint one. Would like a Miele too. (although the cheap one has lasted 5 years, hope it's not your wires).

WAN we had an incident with the imac too. Involving ds2, some climbing, and a push. Now typing on a beautiful new big big imac. Smooth and lovely.

Pickled champagne and walking in woods sounds absolutely divine. Glad you had a lovely time.

Roary wow didn't realise you were there. How is it?

Ollie be fab to see you again, so am easy with dates. Up to others whether to stick to 1st Oct or another - Sat 17th or 24th Sept, 8th or 15th Oct?

Wave to everyone. Have to go as ds2 is doing the climbing thing again.

How lovely. I love all the clothes, especially worn with the Sonia R pants. Will look ace. I love that your dd is helping you decide.

Ah yes we are ahem a bit lazy and use disposables so could be that. Blinking Hotpoint. Be pleased when we can get a swish one.

FritziGreenEyes · 02/08/2011 11:27

reallygrumpy Wonderful news! Congratulations!

apuski Yay for new house! Awful about the fire in your street, hope the couple will be ok.

red I am so happy for you that your move went smoothly and you had such a warm welcome in your new neighbourhood Smile.

B&B chez ollie seems very popular at the moment. Hope you can take your guests to the beach today! The GP dress is great and such a bargain!

annie Hope the new washing machine will help to lift your spirits.

roary I wasn't aware that you have moved to Oz already!!!

I loved reading about the mini-meet up in London. Can't remember who siad it was like the thread suddenly coming to life but that was exactly how I felt when I met so many of you in March!.Hope I can make the next meet up in autumn Smile.

wan How are you feeling?

bloss Hope DD is on the mend today.

emo Gorgeous holiday snaps on FB Smile.

portia Are you off on holiday any time soon?

FritziGreenEyes · 02/08/2011 11:43

I like this dress, but it looks more brown than grey and cleavage could be difficult to wear...

MarshaBrady · 02/08/2011 12:53

God I really need to book a holiday. Left it a bit late, but need to know some dates for work.

Fritzi I love the colour of the dress too, but I know I couldn't do that cleavage thing, others could I imagine.
