GetOrf I am professionally obliged to know a bit about beauty products, what works, why etc. The racehorse info is incidental (and not stated to impress) rather than a selling point, but it's interesting to know these things. The interest was basically in the fact that it has abilities to heal the skin, whether it be that of a horse or a human.
I have recommended on here horse hoof ointment for strengthening nails because I know it works, and why, and am not put off by the fact that it is a product for horses. There are a fair few beauty products which are derived from treatments originally intended for animals. Space NK sells a range called Barielle which they charge through the nose for, and it's all based on horse hoof treatments! There is an american hair care brand called Mane & Tail which is derived from products used to condition horses course tail hair. I wouldn't be put off by the veterinary connections! What reason would there be to be put off? I'm always baffled by this idea! It's not the first time someone's said something similar on here. All mammals have skin and hair cells as well as all the same organs so why shouldn't products for animals cross over?
Like I said before, it is all completely subjective. Lots of people seem to love it. I try a lot of products out and always go back to the ones that work the best for me and my clients. In 17 years as a make up artist this product has been a constant staple in my kit, more so than many others.
But this is Mumsnet, so ....
8 Hour Cream is the same as Vaseline
Creme De La Mer is just German (?!) Nivea
Chanel Make up is Bourjois in a posh box
Caviar is glorified Taramasalata
Oh yes, and yellow foundation looks best on EVERYONE
Just for the record, each and every one of these Mumsnet mantras are bona fide Beauty Myths! (the one about taramaslata was a joke btw)
