I need a new purse. My current one (Mandarina Duck black) is over 10 years old and looking very worn.

I am tempted by a Mulberry one but not sure how they wear.

THud!Shock at £690!

I don't usually hang around S&B. My dh may occasionally tell me I'm beautiful but I don't think anyone has ever called me stylish!

MaeMobley · 18/06/2011 22:30

£690 for a purse!!!!! Makes Mulberry look cheap.

I've got a really nice fossil one. Was the only place I found one that wasn't a long one iykwim that had more than 6 card slots. Only £35 for leather to so not bad IMO

wubblybubbly · 18/06/2011 22:34

Mine was 50p from a car boot sale.

Before that I had a fluffy Bagpuss purse for about 7 years. It's still going strong though I felt once I had DC I ought to have a grown up's purse.

I'll get me coat....Grin

Ixia · 18/06/2011 22:47

I've had this one for a couple of years (in black not brown). It's soft and nice quality, but the note section is the wrong size for English notes.

I have a lovely Smythson one which is lasting me years. A bit like this one. Was a present from DH and I love it. I have quite a long list of requirements from a purse and this definitely meets them all.

harpfairy · 18/06/2011 22:57

I have a Coach one - in python. V pleased with it.
I did have a stock black Prada one that I have had about 5 years. Just got bored of it. Also I got it out once, and the wind blew all my notes out Shock so I decided I needed one that zipped around the edge!

LackaDAISYcal · 18/06/2011 22:57

Mine is very similar to THIS but made by Tula and a fraction of the cost as it was bought in an outlet store. I love it to bits. It's very slim, but still has three compartments, oodles of card slots and a couple of zip compartments. It's the first full sized purse I've ev er owned as the size of them always put me off. As such it was a very long sought after item, to enable me to find just the right one.

I have an Ollie & Nic purse, the leather is lovel and soft. Lots of card slots, a place for notes, zipped compartment for coins. I think I paid about £12 for it from TKMax, the original tag was about £40.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 19/06/2011 07:54

I don't get it either. I felt rebellious spending £25 on a Cath Kidston one.

HipHopOpotomus · 19/06/2011 08:13

Time Out have the current mulberry of Bond St sale listed as an event!!!

Paribus · 19/06/2011 08:17

i have this (almost afraid to post after the last messages)- Anya Hindmarch . very durable, very convenient and a pleasure to look at.

madammecholet · 19/06/2011 08:48

Mae, I think based on that Gucci one, the Mulberry one is a complete bargain, think with the £350 you save, you could buy a handbag too....Grin

MaeMobley · 19/06/2011 11:28

MadameCholet, I love your thinking!

You're all bonkers. My dad bought me a Mulberry bag. I'm using it today for the first time because he keeps asking about it but I am seriously struggling to see what the fuss is about. It stinks of leather and is making me feel quite sick for a start. I want my £40 Esprit one back!

MaeMobley · 19/06/2011 11:34

Gwen, I am slightly bonkers but I feel I would get more use out of a purse than a bag because I never change my purse.

My colleague is completely bonkers and keeps cuddling her purse.

GwendolineMaryLacey · 19/06/2011 11:37

:o That is bonkers. Although I cuddle my iPad.... Blush

ednurse · 19/06/2011 11:41

I have a black lambskin quilted Chanel one. I got it in the outlet in NY for $300 which at the time was £150. The same one retails here for £700. I've had it a good few years now. I LOVE it and it matches my bag when I use that one......little things. Grin

neuroticmumof3 · 19/06/2011 20:51

Ooh, I've got purse envy now from all the lovely pictures. Would love a Mulberry one. Suspect I would cuddle and stroke it.

faustina · 19/06/2011 21:31

I have a mulberry purse/wallet that I bought at Christmas for a hundred quid in the sale. It was to replace another mulberry - a much bigger one, which I've had for about five years, not because it was knackered, but because it was too big and I stuffed it too full of crap and it weighed a ton. I didn't buy either to show off and I don't expect people to look at them. I just like the quality, and the fact that they look better and better as they get older - especially the oak ones. I used to have an orla keily purse before that and it broke within the year. V disappointing!
