AnyFuleKno - don't really get it - you have never seen a wedding dress and though 'oh don't think much of that?'.
There is this thing, it's called free speech or opinions. We're all allowed it.
If you think we should say Lily Allen's dress is great just because she has had something awful happen to her then I think she herself might be the first to tell you to bog off.

gapants · 12/06/2011 09:37

She could wear a bin bag and look amaze, she has that style confidence to wear anything. i heart Lily. I like the dress and the head dress, suits her.

Her sister has had a tit job, the the program where they were setting up the shop she has no tits to speak of, now she does Confused. Dress is a bit on the trashy side.

Miquita never looks groomed or put together. I doubt she gives a shit either!

AnyFuleKno · 12/06/2011 09:45

I don't think anyone should say the dress is great if they don't think that. I just think it's a bit off to rip the shit out of someones wedding dress.

Perhaps style and beauty is not the topic for me. I hate all the 'rules' about what you must and must not wear.

TheFlyingOnion · 12/06/2011 09:46

why is it loathsome Anyfule?

gapants · 12/06/2011 09:49

anyfuelkno it is a thread about the dress, there will differing opinions about A DRESS, it is not a character assassination on Lily.

S&B?- truly there are no rules. Well accept about boot cut jeans and black boots, and fleeces, and see through linen trousers, and .....oh maybe there are Grin

AnyFuleKno · 12/06/2011 09:51

Because flying onion, imagine someone seeing pictures of your wedding or social occasion and saying what you said. It would sting I imagine. There is some quite good critical analysis of the dress on this thread now actually, but you just say 'horrible, urgh' as though that was the final word on it.

It just smacks of the sort of Heat magazine fascism and criticism of celeb clothes and bodies.

TheFlyingOnion · 12/06/2011 09:52

gapants is there something wrong with boot cut jeans?

AnyFuleKno · 12/06/2011 09:52

As I said, I don't think this is the thread for me. I'm sorry for being snippy.

TheFlyingOnion · 12/06/2011 09:53

The OP asks if I like the dress.

I don't. I think its horrid. That's my final word on whether or not I like it. Others can (quite obviously) think for themselves.

Can't see what's wrong with that...

gapants · 12/06/2011 09:56

it is a certain boot cut with a certain black boot.

Think per una slightly too high waisted jeans with maybe some sparkly stitching on the bum, that are just a bit flappy and bit short on length with a square toe, block heal ankle boot. My mum rocks this look. Topped off with a polar fleece.

smartyparts · 12/06/2011 10:20

I admire her for not looking like everyone else, but the whole ensemble is a bit Miss Havisham for me.

TheFlyingOnion · 12/06/2011 11:07

I can picture it Grin

A fleece should never be worn with boots - only ever trainers imho.

And I don't know anything about fashion...

muminthemiddle · 12/06/2011 11:13

I don't like the frill or the head dress/flat veil.
personally I think there will be lots of lace around after Catherine Middleton's dress.
I agree about not being a fan of strapless dresses, unflattering on most people.

porcamiseria · 12/06/2011 11:15

you know what I think she looks lovely, all brides to IMO. I really hope this PG goes well

agrede re Heat style bitchy comments

AitchTwoOh · 12/06/2011 11:24

i love the headdress, and her makeup is brilliant. surprised by the fishtail, though, that seems at odds with the 20s headpiece. but then lily's ankles aren't her best feature, so maybe she wanted long rather than drop-waisted mid calf? i really love her, though, want to scoop her up and make her my best friend and am delighted that she is pregnant again.

sister's outfit is AWFUL but not as bad as bridesmaids. i was genuinely shocked.

AitchTwoOh · 12/06/2011 11:25

i mean do they have POCKETS ffs?

AitchTwoOh · 12/06/2011 11:26

and why is miquita oliver wearing BLACK clarks sandals?

corsilk · 12/06/2011 12:06

I like that miquita looks hungover and confused. I always liked her on that C4 music thing.

AitchTwoOh · 12/06/2011 12:12

me too. i think she's funny. she interviewed beyonce once and B finally relaxed and sounded like the young person she was.

corsilk · 12/06/2011 12:13

She had a really good relationship with Simon Amstell I thought. They were very entertaining together.

kyacat · 12/06/2011 12:41

Don't like it but it suits her style. Her sister looks awful Shock if it weren't for the boob-window it would be a pretty frock.

sharbie · 12/06/2011 16:24

i like miquita too - i always think good on her for wearing her own style
think she'd make a great friend - her and simon are sadly missed here

FellatioNelson · 12/06/2011 20:02

I have the not the foggiest idea who she is. [useless on young people's stuff]

I hardly ever watch telly though.

The more I look at the pics the more beautiful I think Lily looks. So pretty and natural, and so happy. Even the earmuffs are really growing on me.

wendihouse22 · 13/06/2011 09:19

Didn't like the Princess Leila earmuffs. I think her head's too small for them.

Some of the guests looked, well....tatty. Like they were going "down the market" later for a bit of shopping.

bananamonkey · 13/06/2011 13:39

I love the dress, it's pretty and classy but not so keen on the headdress.

Miquita always looks like she smells of lambrini, stale fags and wee. The bridesmaid that is bending down looks pretty but the other ones look like they're still in their nighties.

Shock at the sister, in what universe is that ever appropriate at a wedding? Plus it looks like an el cheapo sundress from primark.
