I'm going to a wedding on Saturday. Dress, accessories, etc all sorted but when I tried it on it struck me that I might look better with some control pants. I have tried these in the past though and either can't breath or they roll down and the bulge just goes over the top!! Can anyone recommend some shapewear that is comfortable and doesn't ride up or down please Smile

Oh, and it would need to be bought somewhere in Central London (prob Oxford Street or nearby).

Thanks!

Flexees boy shorts

Househunter · 20/05/2011 09:29

Do you know where I could buy Flexees Oatcake? I don't know London very well but will have an hour or so tomorrow morning to panic buy control pants Grin. So, I need to know which shops to aim for!!

Ah, I see House of Fraser sell them. And there is one on Oxford Street. So that might work.

Any other suggestions?

Spanx are supposed to be the daddy of control pants. IIRC you can get ones which clip on to your bra so so you don't have the roll-down issue.

Househunter · 20/05/2011 09:56

Oh, that sounds like a good idea. Do they get quite hot thought if they come all the way up to your bra?

You can buy them in different levels so some are more 'sheer' than others or you could get the tights which are quite sheer and if you were planning on wearing tights anyway kill two birds with one stone. They aren't cheap though!

Househunter · 20/05/2011 10:04

Yes, they do look pricey. Though it looks like Debenhams has money off at the moment, so might check them out.

Spanx, without a doubt. Surprisingly, they don't get hot. They're quite a breathable fabric and so ultra comfortable. And don't roll down which every other brand sodding do

moragbellingham · 20/05/2011 11:26

I've just taken delivery of my flexee onsie as recommended by mmecholet (I think?).
I wasn't expecting too much but TBH it's a blooming marvel!!!!! I bought long red jersey tight fitting dress with a view to slimming into it but I can get away with wearing it now with this magical contraptionGrin

20% off at John Lewis today (so I imagine they are price matching House of Fraser)

moragbellingham · 20/05/2011 11:29

Sorry it's Debenhams that have 25% off Flexees - so mine was £30.40. Expensive but I'm at an age where it's worth it!

winefairy · 20/05/2011 11:57

Typical. Now I'm interested in the Flexee onsie but what does the JL sizing mean? Can anyone help, please?

TracyK · 20/05/2011 12:44

I was looking at the onsie too - if I am a large 16 - what size would that be for onsie's?
Is it ok wearing a bra under it - or do you not need to?

tethersend · 20/05/2011 12:52

You need this little marvel.

moragbellingham · 20/05/2011 13:22

I am a 10/12 and got a M which is just right.
Maybe I have a relatively large chest (32E) but I pull the straps to the side weightlifter style so I can wear my normal Freya bra and it works well (although sounds strange).

moragbellingham · 20/05/2011 13:29

TraceyK - Go for the XL (available at House of Fraser/Debenhams but not John LewsiConfused) definitely or even XXL (from Figleaves) to compare.

I heard a slight rip when I tried on my M and I'm 10/12!

Even better to go into store and try on I think as there are so many cardboard tags etc. attached it's quite difficult to decide without ripping them off.

moragbellingham · 20/05/2011 13:30

I'm going to try it without bra to see.

TracyK · 20/05/2011 13:36

Thats what was putting me off. I went in to try on some M&S shapers - but gave up after the 1st one got stuck half over my head and half under my arms. It too k me ages to get back out of it - the material was so inflexible and tight.

I might order a few off Debenhams (if they have any offers on at the mo) and try in the privacy and large bedroom. I can't decide between the onsie or the one that doesn't have legs. Not sure if I need the 'legs' one or not. Need it mainly for tum and back smoothing.
Can you get the bra that the model is wearing in the photos - it looks nice too!

Mumelie · 20/05/2011 17:51

This www.next.co.uk/g363236s3#478927g36 is brilliant under dresses and you can wear your own bra. It doesnt ride up (or down). Its brilliant.

moragbellingham · 20/05/2011 17:53

If you look at Tether's link do you mean? Yes, good colour.

I didn't want a VPL so chose the one with legs and it smooths over my knickers quite well. It does have an (ahem) slit in the crotch if you don't want to wear any knickers though for going to the loo.

It's a "light" support so not very thick and certainly not as inflexible as others I've tried.

Househunter · 22/05/2011 21:01

Thanks for the recommendations. I went for Spanx in the end - this one. It was excellent - really made a difference to my shape, didn't make me hot and didn't ride down. Going to the toilet was a bit of a challenge but I was really pleased overall Smile
