Would a chic french woman wear leggings?

Am having disagreement with a friend who thinks leggings are very sexy and chic with a knitted dress or similar.

I am saying no.

He says french women would wear them and they are 'chic' and I am wrong.

am I?

I say skinny jeans are better.

Bonsoir, where are you when I need you?

PS Though a large hourglass, I'm very tall and have slim legs, so perhaps that helps [hopefully].

I'm living in Paris. I have never seen them on anyone French over about 14, and even then it was only one or two girls wearing them with uggs and giant hair who looked like they had got on the bus to go to school in England and ended up in Paris by mistake.

My local GAP was selling "legging jeans" (because the French can't cope with the word "jegging"?) and they were all in the sale because no-one was buying them.

They go for ultra skinny jeans (but that are actual denim).

"would any 50 year old wear leggings though... french or otherwise?"

I'm 52 and wear them with a shortish dress and boots. I always get compliments when I wear that outfit.

i often wear leggings and a dress to work as do a lot of my colleagues but i work in social care so i guess we're meant to look unchic. i just don't have good enough legs to bare them entirely and am not allowed to wear jeans. i'm 43 by the way.
