Cutting off long hair stops your face looking fat apparently - talk to me about tonight's hair cut...

I read an article on MSN a week or so ago which claimed that having long hair can drag your features down, and that shorter hair is more flattering.

Now as it happens, I've got an appointment tonight, and as I've had long hair for years am a bit bored and debating chopping it right off...

I don't have a particularly fat face, but I'll take any help I can get.

There are just a few things that I want to establish about new short hair:

  1. I don't want a Posh bob or anything like that. My style in general is a bit scruffy laid back and I don't want anything to sensible looking as it'll not work
  1. Am I going to regret chopping off long wavy (though bloody scruffy and annoying) hair and spend the rest of my 30's with a short sensible mum cut?

I might have a bash at uploading some pictures - I need to get it straight in my head what I'm asking for...

I suppose, what I'm asking (in around about, dithery sort of way) is, do we think it is true that shorter hair is more flattering? And does anyone have any pics/suggestions for shorter styles? I've 98% decided I'm going to take the plunge and chop it all off, but it's a lot of hair and the 2% is making me over-deliberate...Confused

I too have thick wavy hair and have cut it short twice in my life and regretted it each time. Thick hair tends to grow outwards so you have a period of unruly mess when growing it out.

Only if you are petite, would I suggest going for it. If you have broad shoulders you will regret the move as you will look broader still.

Hope I'm not too late with this nugget of advice Hmm

Hmmm...I'm thinking I might just keep going and chop more off it.

It was dried with a diffuser and messed up in the salon, and I've since washed it and straightened it, which has improved things a bit, although I really can't be arsed with havign to do that with it all the time. It's ok, I guess, just fairly unremarkable.

I do like the feel of shorter hair though, I felt psychologically liberated, if that makes any sense?

i will never have my long ( messy) hair cut off. I have a ton of layers in it though, so it doesnt pull my face down and i can always tell when i need a cut as i can see my face looks long.
Ive a side sweeping fringe and its shaped around my face.

ive had a few bobs and while uber short style once. never again. my nose is too big and my face too potatoe shaped to suit it. My sister however is the total opposite and lookds great with short hair and shit with long.
