Hi

What are topshop jeans like?

Was looking at Leigh jeans today but can't decide.

What did they look/feel like on? If they look good then I would get them.

Ladymaryjane · 04/05/2011 21:03

I have the Baxters, no give in them at all. What fit are the Leigh ones? Must be new.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 04/05/2011 21:08

I have quite a few pairs. Generally decent fit and last well. I'm not typical Topshop shape either!

fyrtlemertile · 04/05/2011 21:32

Leigh are very skinny, thin and stretchy, more jeggingy than jeans, the baxters are 'traditional' slim fit and Jamie are in between. I find Topshop come up reasonably true to size, possibly a little big if anything. I have the Leigh jeans and have just outgrown them with my bump. They are very comfy :)

tigerbear · 04/05/2011 22:08

Fyrtle they do the Leigh jegging style in the maternity range too.
My friend is the denim designer for Topshop! Pass on any feedback if you like! :)

baskingseals · 04/05/2011 22:11

jamie are brilliant jeans

also some really good ones in zara at the moment. skinny with zips up the ankle - sound awful but are really nice and much cheaper than topshop

partyhats · 04/05/2011 22:18

Tigerbear, please can you ask your designer friend to make the jeans a little bit higher rise so that arse is not on view every time you bend over.

Also I really like TS jeans but I think the waistbands are too big compared to the rest of the jeans, you have to wear a belt with them. Baxters sizing has changed over the years, I had a pair from about 3 years ago that I wore to death which were a great fit even without a belt, I have replaced them with a new pair which fit great on the bottom half but are too big around bum and waist. Luckily I always wear long tops with them so covers the bagginess. Not sure why the sizes are being made bigger, I have def not lost weight, in fact have just had a baby.

tigerbear · 04/05/2011 22:29

Party will let her know! :)

Ladymaryjane · 04/05/2011 23:14

I bought my Baxters about 5 years ago and they are baggy on the waist. And I do NOT have a small waist. I have to wear them with my snake belt Grin Remember those?

MegBusset · 04/05/2011 23:16

I had two pairs of Baxters that each wore through at the knee within three months of purchase! Have stuck to New Look (half the price and much better quality) ever since.

ChablisLover · 05/05/2011 09:35

Have to say they (Leigh) looked quite cheap and unsubstantial for the price of them.

REmember trying on baxters when they first came out and did not agree with them.

Think I might try H&M as well as new look

I'm a huge fan of Topshop jeans, because I'm a shortarse and they do most of their designs in multiple lengths which saves an expensive trip to the drycleaner to have them hemmed. Also they last surprisingly well - some of mine are years old and they haven't bagged around the bum or knees.

Having said that, something is up with them lately. I bought two pairs of Baxter's a couple of months ago and they're looking worse than pairs I've had for three years.

LonelyLinda · 05/05/2011 11:02

I love Baxters, I have bought two pairs and they are the nicest jeans I have had in a long time, far nicer than next, they fit me really well and high enough waist to not have a muffin top (which I would usually have)

PinkOlives · 05/05/2011 12:50

i love baxters too but my old baxters (true to size) were perefct in size and length, some are 5years old and i wore them to death. they dont do 29 length in petite anymore only 28 which would be too short for me. i recently bought navy ones in length 30 and they are too baggy for me although they are the same waist as my petite ones (they are bigger in the bottom area also). i think they have changed over the years but it also depends on the colour the material changes depending on the colour.

i think i had some Leigh jeans they are a lot softer and i think mine lost a lot of their shape they were black. (i sized down)

have some cord Jamies they kept shape but much prefer the shape of the baxters, i find with more stretch the jeans wear off.

tigerbear pls can you tell your friend i want my length 29s back please (im a big customer!) want to replace all my old ones

Ladymaryjane · 05/05/2011 21:00

I can't praise Gap's super skinny jeans enough if it's skinnies you're after. I haven't seen them recently though. My jeans last me years Grin. But they did have them at Cheshire Oaks Outlet 3 weeks ago for 20 quid (I paid 55). I should have bought at least another 2 pairs. Very soft dark denim but really hold you in, and not too low slung

ChablisLover · 07/05/2011 08:32

Ladymaryjane - bought a pair of these yesterday in my local Gap Outlet - £19.99.

Still to try on but am hoping for great things

Thanks for the recommendation

Tigerbear Please would you ask your friend why they have ceased to make Martha jeans? I can't find them online or in store. They were, IMO, the perfect jeans and were very popular with other MNers on this board too :)

If they are bringing them back, could you request that they make them without the silly flap pockets they had with the last batch? They used to just have regular patch pockets which were perfectly proportioned to make your bottom look svelte and lovely :) Oh and another inch in the rise would make them absolutely perfect.

Anyone else want to join in with a Bring Back Marthas campaign?? :o

LadyWithNoManors · 07/05/2011 09:15

Have they stopped making Marthas ? ???

The3Bears · 07/05/2011 09:18

I have Jamie ones the really skinny ones but they're actually really comfortable :)

Sariska · 07/05/2011 09:28

Oh yes, I'll join in with the Bring Back Marthas campaign. They are the best high street jeans I've ever had.

ATM I'm liking the Jessie flares. Very flattering on the leg and bum.

tulpe · 07/05/2011 10:18

Lady as far as I can see, yes. They only had black ones online before Christmas and now they have none. Haven't seen any in store for ages either.

PinkOlives · 07/05/2011 10:22

Marthas have gone too?? Now im worried might have to stock up on topshop jeans they seem to change quite often

PinkOlives · 07/05/2011 10:24

oh yes Tulpe, the buttoned flaps on the pockets need to go

Maybeitsbecause · 07/05/2011 10:26

I like Leigh, Baxter, Kristen ( the high-waisted skinnies - great for sucking in slight muffin tops) and Jamie (agree - comfy, stretchy skinnies).

tulpe · 07/05/2011 11:57

You could try Johnnie B skinnies from Boden. Yes really Blush. I have a pair in indigo and last year's red pair. Both fit very similar to Marthas and don't seem to ride down so much. The sizing is weird though. I am an 8-10 and have to buy the 30R (last year I had to buy the 30L but this year they are too long).
