4 breasts and how to avoid them??

FoofffyShmoofffer · 03/05/2011 16:18

I threatened to start this thread before then thought I had it solved by buying new bras but Nooooooo still finding that an hour into the bra I have developed the dreaded 4 boobs.

IT LOOKS HORRENDOUS.

Is it the style? Is it the fit?

I was measured as 38F and she recommended some enormous plunge scaffolding affairs. I now have a cleavage you could park your bike in and 4 fecking breasts!!!!!

Advice appreciated Smile

What dress size are you? A 38F is quite a suspicious size, were you in M&S?

suzikettles · 03/05/2011 16:23

Take them back. They're either the wrong size or the wrong style for you - or both.

Is your bra slipping down? Back size too big? Did she fit it using the loosest back fastening so that you can move down a notch when it stretches?

Is the cup too small?

Knofje · 03/05/2011 16:25

yy they need taking back, the question is are they the right size in the first place. Even if the style is wrong. I'm (rightfully) very wary of bra fitters, most haven't got the foggyest idea how to do their job IMwideandvariedE.

FoofffyShmoofffer · 03/05/2011 16:25

I am a 16 top, 14 bottom. Breasts not so much large ( well they are large but not humungous) more erm defying gravity over time. (Bloody kids)

Yes it was M+S. What do you know about it? Why is it suspicious? Intriguing.

If they fitted, then you wouldn't have 4 boobs! I'm thinking that they have the back size too big and the cup size too small. Go to Bravissimo, they don't bother with tape measures and they changed me from a 38C to a 34FF. I have norks to die for, even though I've grown to a 36FF/G. Grin

sorky · 03/05/2011 16:28

M&S are rubbish at measuring. The cups are too small.

What's your ribcage measurement (inches) ?

What's your bust measurement?

sprinkles77 · 03/05/2011 16:29

could be both. where did you get them from? was it M&S? they're not very good at bra fitting, and their bras are crap. They measured me as a 34c for years, and I am a 30E. Measuring is a waste of time. Go to a fitter with no tape measure...bravissimo, rigby and peller. Fitting tips:
1.band should be tight around the back on the loosest hook, and same height at front and back. Most people wearing too big. Try at least one size smaller.

  1. the wire should be against your chest between the boobs.
  2. all your breast tissue should be inside the wires. None under your armpit or spilling under the wires (think "under cleavave"). You may need to go up at least one size.
  3. the more coverage you have the less the chance of 4 boobs. So I would avoid a plunge and go for either balconette or full cup.

I would go to bravissimo or possibly john lewis and try on a good brand (fantasie, freya, panache) in a 36G or 34H.

see this www.bravissimo.com/perfectfit/

once you have sorted your size out, go to www.brastop.com for top brands at sale prices.

Knofje · 03/05/2011 16:29

Mmmm. M&S are, frankly, shit at fitting bras. Back size is always wrong. I bet you're more like a 34H or a 36G. YOu need to measure yourself, first under the bust, tightly but comfortably, this gives the band size. NO adding or subtracting. The, measure round your norks while wearing your best fitting, least squashing bra. The difference between the two measurements gives the cup size 1inch = 1 cup size.

sorky · 03/05/2011 16:30

I bet they measured you and added the 4/5 inches.

It's not the right way to do it anymore, but they don't seem to have caught up yet, useless buggers.

yy M&S are completely rubbish at measuring and always seem to go for huge back size/small cup.

I think this is a throwback from the days when they stopped at about a D cup and would just squeeze you in anyhow by increasing the back size.

Knofje · 03/05/2011 16:32

Yes, that, and that they don't stock much above an F. Or at least they didn't in my day. So, the bigger the breasts the bigger the back size they sell. Idiocy.

mrsgordonfreeman · 03/05/2011 16:32

I have had to interrupt M&S bra fitters from the changing room before when they were giving someone rubbish advice.

Go to someone who knows how to fit a bra, try on a range of sizes and find a brand and style that you like and which fits you. Cost no object (and a good bra costs, unfortunately).

It sounds like the cup size is too small, at the very least. Try a 36FF.

Are the cups moulded? The fit can be tricky if they are.

Anyway, what am I saying? Don't buy a bra from M&S. They are rubbish. Your tits deserve better.

ggirl · 03/05/2011 16:33

agree with sprinkle
sounds like cup size too small
I am 38ff, I love fantasie bras, especially balcony ones

fruitshootsandheaves · 03/05/2011 16:33

I was going to go to Bravissimo but don't they only do D-cup and larger? I am too flabby and old small chested to want to bother them but I don't think any of my bra's fit very well.

Knofje · 03/05/2011 16:34

Yeah, I'm changing my bet on the correct size to 36H or 34J.

FoofffyShmoofffer · 03/05/2011 16:34

Well before she measured me I was wearing a 36 back size and i was perfectly ok with that. I didnt question the change because I've put on 10lbs in the last 6 months. Sad

I have found a Bravissimo store in Manchester so I might have me a little train ride over.

She measured me on the middle hook and there is hardly any room to hike them up if need be I have noticed since.

I didn't know I could go back with them thought I was stuck with them.

nickelbabe · 03/05/2011 16:37

God are M&S crap - when I went to get my first bra fitted, they told me that my 32c was the same as a 34b.
I had done a bit of research, so I knew they were wrong, but I was gobsmacked!

they always do that, and I bet they've done it to you, too, made you a bigger back size and a smaller cup size.

get to Bravissimo, as suggested, or John Lewis - somewhere that will actually stand with you and try on as many as are needed to get your fit, and won't be embarrassed to see a naked boob (yes, that was M&S again)

TheVisitor · 03/05/2011 16:38

Fruitshoots, they do all sorts of sizes, not just D and above.

Foofffy, they're good in the Manchester store. That's where I was converted.

True dat, sister.

Definitely take them back. You shouldn't be stuck with something that doesn't fit you - especially when you bought them in good faith having gone to the trouble of getting them fitted by an "expert".

I don't think you'll have any trouble returning them.

MadreInglese · 03/05/2011 16:43

loads here if you are near manchester

(for some reason "bra fitter" comes up with a list of carpet fitters! Hmm)

FoofffyShmoofffer · 03/05/2011 16:44

Nickelbabe - yes that was funny. I started to whip my bra off and she threw the new one in my direction and fled.

I wanted to shout " Good God woman, you work with knockers every day get a grip!"
