Online shopping for kids clothes - I want George prices but Boden look!

Can anyone recommend any good places to buy kids clothes online for a 9 year old and a 7 year old girl? My budget is very limited. They are both quite girly but like funky colourful clothes. I have trawled Tescos and Asda and Sainsburys and although I like some of their stuff they don't always have the sizes, and a lot of it especially for the older DD is very tarty - and horrible fabrics and colours. I love Boden but it's too £££. Ditto Vertbaudet - 20 quid for a little cotton cardigan is just too much. E-bay takes too long. I just want some nice t-shirts, cardigans, shoes etc for summer. Please help! Thanks.

Try Zara basics range - plain tshirts etc

CointreauVersial · 20/04/2011 18:06

Next? They get some stick for their womenswear, but the kids stuff can be OK.

La Redoute/Vertbaudet always have sales/offers which brings the cost down a lot.

Pumpkin Patch sometimes has some reasonable clothes.

GAP are better quality then Boden and cheaper
My ds's boden t-shirts always end up with little holes in them -grrrr

Vertbaudet
A few bright & funky things for girls!

LIZS · 20/04/2011 18:19

Next have a Pretty Pastels collection

babster · 20/04/2011 18:21

H&M is colourful, fun and inexpensive

UML · 20/04/2011 18:23

actually, looking at the stuff, its not that cheap...

LynetteScavo · 20/04/2011 18:26

Not just me then with holes in the Boden t-shirts, cornsilk! I was getting paranoid we had moths.

Ealingkate · 20/04/2011 18:36

H & M ?? There are always loads of offers on Vertbaudet stuff and once you've ordered from them they send you vouchers in the post.

bristolcities · 20/04/2011 18:53

Second H and M, really good designs and very cheap. I think the sizes come up a little big though.

pink4ever · 20/04/2011 19:08

Another vote for h&m here. Bought my daughter 5 dresses from there this week-cost me £15. Maybe some other helpful person might be able to link to them?.

southofthethames · 20/04/2011 19:17

My experience was that H&M came up a little small and sometimes the material is a bit thin - ok for spring, summer and autumn (under a cardigan or coat for cooler weather or night time). Not so good for winter clothes. M&S online is very good quality - we've always had a good fit, the material is comfy and of good quality, smart enough for parties but hardy enough for rolling about in the grass. And washes well in the machine - no fading, colour doesn't come out onto other clothes. Not pricey if you search carefully and wait for sales for big ticket items like a party dress or a coat.

Found John Lewis expensive unless it is for something special.

OrangeBernard · 20/04/2011 19:18

La redoute have amazing sales.

BikeRunSki · 20/04/2011 19:22

Bon Prix can have some utter dross and some really nice stuff. Primark/supermarket quality, similar prices.

teenyweenytadpole · 20/04/2011 20:50

Thanks for suggestions, I will go and have a browse. My DD's have such a bizarre wardrobe, a real mix of things they have been given/handed down and only a few things I have actually chosen for them, so I thought it would be nice just to pick them out a few things to try and bring it all together.

Ebay. You can search by brand, so you can put in eg. Boden, though they do go for silly prices sometimes.

Monsoon, Gap and H&M tend to go for much more reasonable prices. Have a look at bundles as well.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 20/04/2011 21:01

Oxfam online - you can get some absolute bargains and they are literally George prices for Boden stuff!

BikeRunSki · 20/04/2011 22:00

Problem with Ebay is sellers know you'll search by brand name and some of them think that they can sell you something old, faded and torn just because is has a Boden label.

c0rns1lk · 20/04/2011 22:14

you get the holes too Lynette? It's bizarre isn't it? Ds has a boden t-shirt that he can only have worn 4-5 times and when I put it on the washing line today there were 3 frigging little holes down the front. Angry

FattyAcid · 21/04/2011 10:20

holes on the front of the tshirts mean only one thing to me - check if your kids are smoking dope my friends

c0rns1lk · 21/04/2011 10:43

no way is that an option!
