DH has bought me a dress

DH got a bit carried away with the Joules 3 for 2 offer and has bought me this dress

I'm going to look like someone's curtains, aren't I?

Or is it not that bad, and will be absolutely lovely with the right accessories?

I think it could be quite cute, with the right accessories, maybe a cute red cardi like this and some cute red heels like these or some wedges like these

SarkyLady · 17/04/2011 20:01

yuk.

:)

hpsaucy · 17/04/2011 20:04

I quite like it. think it would be great with the red cardy and shoes

ja9 · 17/04/2011 20:07

i like it Blush

Tanyaaah · 17/04/2011 20:24

I like it too.

ExpectoPatronum · 17/04/2011 20:35

yes, sarky, I have to confess that was my initial reaction too. Although I'm getting sold on the red accessories line, especially as I do possess red slingbacks already. Granted, this enthusiasm might be because Cadburys has managed to find me a Coggles cardigan vaguely within my price range Grin (I was a student in York and used to press my nose to the glass of their shop, a longing expression on my sad little face).

With a bit of fake tan it will look great! I really like it and it is by far the nicest print out of the 3.

Tillyscoutsmum · 17/04/2011 20:37

I think its lovely.

TeddyMcardle · 17/04/2011 20:39

I like it.

tulpe · 17/04/2011 20:40

I was about to say "not liking it" but....on second thoughts, perhaps with flats and a cardi yes. Perhaps even leggings too.

Depends how garish the pattern looks irl and if you wear the pattern rather than the other way around, iyswim. That pattern would walk in to a room before me if I were wearing that dress. I cannot "do" big patterns of that volume :)

Ditablue · 17/04/2011 20:43

ooh no..... how old are you op? Think it could make you look quite 'old' - bless his heart for buying you a dress though.

ExpectoPatronum · 17/04/2011 20:43

I'm generally OK with big patterns because I'm quite tall. However, I've just been reading the reviews and many of them say that it runs big, so now I'm slightly concerned that I'll look as though I'm wearing a Cath Kidston tent. I'm usually all for a bit of vanity sizing but not if I'm going to have to drive 14 miles to the nearest Joules store to return it.

I'm 35, Ditablue, 5'11", size 12-ish. Skinny legs, but 3 x post-partum tummy.

IngridFletcher · 17/04/2011 20:46

I saw this in a shop yesterday and it is nice. Not garish. Maybe more tunic than dress.

Ditablue · 17/04/2011 20:58

Well it sounds like you have a lovely figure so if it runs big would you be hiding away under all that material? Could work beautifully if you had blue eyes tho....

SkinittingFluffyBunnyBonnets · 17/04/2011 21:02

I like it too.

It's nice.

WIll be lovely with wedges and a denim jacket.

NotaMopsa · 17/04/2011 21:05

i like it - need thin legs though!

bristolcities · 17/04/2011 21:17

With Cadburys accessories I think it could look very Penelope Cruz in Volver! I think someone posted a link to the beige spotty one not long ago and the general opinion was puke.

ColonelBrandonsBiggestGroupie · 17/04/2011 21:28

I think it's cute - lovely with red ballet flats.

thefirstMrsDeVere · 17/04/2011 21:32

Its yum.

upahill · 17/04/2011 21:32

Nice of your Dh but you are right you will look like curtains at the best.

It is hideous and the thing at the neck is pointless.

It looks like something a bag lady would wear.

AitchTwoOh · 17/04/2011 21:38

it just doesn't quite work imo. the neck is funny.

DoubleDegreeStudent · 17/04/2011 21:45

If it runs large before returning it I'd try it with a brown belt knotted around the waist (<a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.fr/imgres?imgurl=1.bp.blogspot.com/_AvYl46hnvsM/THwhyZalL_I/AAAAAAAAArg/soh2yjC-5M0/s1600/Picture2.jpg&imgrefurl=www.thinkthrufashion.com/2010/12/ask-thinkthru-where-can-i-find-good-waist-belts/&usg=__m4x5bsiDNKPUzCwCRSTKsjKtCXw=&h=584&w=1001&sz=78&hl=fr&start=0&sig2=6DksNA4RurIbmZDUebh4Fg&zoom=1&tbnid=iMSHHpn-VlvBfM:&tbnh=83&tbnw=142&ei=fFCrTZ-ZDdKp8APtoPW4Ag&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dinstyle%2Bknotted%2Bbelt%26um%3D1%26hl%3Dfr%26sa%3DN%26rlz%3D1C1CHNP_en-GBGB370GB370%26biw%3D1024%26bih%3D485%26tbm%3Disch&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=214&vpy=202&dur=62&hovh=171&hovw=294&tx=133&ty=100&oei=fFCrTZ-ZDdKp8APtoPW4Ag&page=1&ndsp=22&ved=1t:429,r:9,s:0" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">a bit like this to pull it in a bit? Still keep it baggy but just a gentle reminder that you have a waist.

I really like it, but would be wary of too much red. (Don't hate me) there are lots of nice mustard yellow things around at the moment that might go well? Maybe a cream cardigan and mustard flats? Or leggings and some gladiator sandals.
