Hello ladies, my DH's funeral is on 28th April. I want to wear a lovely, amazing dress to make him feel proud of me on that day. Please can you help?

I am 5'10", about a size 14 (likely to shed a couple more pounds between now and then), good legs but rubbish tummy. I have highlighted hair in a bob and am quite fair. Budget will be hopefully no more than £200, may need to find shoes, but can find extra funds for those if necessary (size 42 too, so not very easy to find nice shoes). Although my legs are quite good I am 40 and don't really want anything above the knee.

I would like something stylish and elegant, not necessarily black, but perhaps something like this Not sure if it would be the thing or not?

TIA Smile

So soory to hear of your loss. Have been following your post. Thankfully it sounds like he is now out of pain.
As for a dress I like the one you like and also the one blossoming suggested.
I didn't like the one tillyscoutsmum (think thats her name sorry if I got it wrong) suggested.
Hope all goes as planned and take care of yourself.

What an extraordinary lady you are, rindercella.

I am so sad to hear of the loss of our dear, DH. Such a handsome young man. So terribly, terribly sad.

Love to you, your beautiful girls and family.

xx

Rinders, I saw the dress in your OP in JL today and it's really beautiful. If you've gone for that one, you will look stunning.

(Although, I have to say that about most of the the dresses people have suggested here, some absolute beautys)

Rindercella · 20/04/2011 07:56

Thank you all for your great suggestions and also for your kind words & support.

I went shopping yesterday and ended up with the second dress I suggested and also this hat. I have some lovely brown/bronze L K Bennett shoes and if it's chilly I have a bronze coat which will go perfectly.

Hopefully you will all approve Wink

Thanks again

A gorgeous choice. I can't imagine anyone not approving :)

Wishing you strength.

Rindercella, I'm so, so sorry for your loss. Your DH looks lovely and your kids are just gorgeous.

I love Kew dresses- very flattering kew

But I also like the first dress you chose.

I noticed on your profile that we like some of the books. Can I recommend one that you may enjoy - Hunting Midnight by Richard Zimler. It's a beautiful book that I often re read when times are tough. I find it comforting.

chrisonabike · 20/04/2011 08:24

It is beautiful, Rindercella. Wishing you lots of love and light for the 28th.

EggyFucker · 20/04/2011 08:27

That dress you have chosen is beautiful

My best wishes to you and your family x

womma · 20/04/2011 08:38

Beautiful choice, love it.

KristinaM · 20/04/2011 08:59

That's A beautiful outfit and perfect for the occasion. Not too short or too low necked, lovely colors. And a most excellent hat, if I may say so.

You will defo need the coat at some point, it's always cold at funerals, whatever the weather. Coldest bits are standing outside the church or crematorium or at the graveside

Are your girsl going and if so, and do you have someone to look after them? My dD was 5 at her siblings funeral and we had a distant cousin look after her ie someone not close so wasn't upset IYKWIM

Hope your other plans for the day are going well

DarrellRivers · 20/04/2011 09:07

What a gorgeous dress
I like it better than my standby Tina dress

UrsulaBuffay · 20/04/2011 09:29

The dress is absolutely stunning, great choice Rinders!

JaxTellersOldLady · 20/04/2011 09:36

I love the dress you bought & the hat.

Rinders you will look stunning, get your hair/nails done too so that you are perfectly groomed. Not a vain thing at all, but it would help me, so figure it may help you too.

The only thing that sprung to mind was to wear something that your Prince loved you in, so that you feel closer to him on the day, if that makes any sense at all.

Thinking of you all every day. x

HerecometheBelgians · 20/04/2011 10:54

You are going to look SO beautiful, he would be immensely proud of you and quite rightly too. So sorry for your loss, I've just stumbled across this thread but couldn't help posting. Wishing you all the love, support, luck and blessings in the world.
