....what casual trousers should we be wearing this summer?

I liked that first pic Noddy. That's a but like me in the summer that is. Or with peg legged cotton trousers on the hip but rolled up. And Whistles t-shirts (I have an ongoing love affair with these!)

I love the idea of capris but I just know my thighs and ankles will look huge in them. I am tall and size 10 but with hefty bones and muscular legs.

But last year I binned my beloved linen trousers as I felt I was straying into mumsy and now I don't know what on earth to replace them with.

Mum I'm short but wear wide legged trews for work /casual (think Gap modern boot cut sort of cut, not really wide) from jigsaw or toast in cotton or linen with nice top. Dresses only if it is reaaally hot (not last year then). Capri type jeans are for cool days. Drawstring trews too shapeless to be flattering but have various ancient pairs from Gap and White Stuff for hot days. Still wear shorts even though I'm ancient (soon to be 46!!!!)

foundwanting I totally agree! Last pair I tried on, they barely came to mid-thigh (in a size bigger than I normally take) and soo uncomfortable I wanted to cut them off. My v slim sis says the same.

I did once see a mum at the school gates in a pair of Zara white jeans, with the dazzly thingies on the back pocket. She looked amazing. I was in awe!

Capri pants my big fat arse. Fine if you are skinny of leg. Saggy-arsed linen trousers not much better.

How about long wafty linen skirts?

And drawstring-waisted anything isn't advisable unless your waist measurement is bigger than your bum measurement. And your bust measurement is bigger than your waist measurement.
