Why do ALL shoes hurt my feet :(

Grrr i am Angry and Sad again as i am every spring time that ALL shoes hurt my feet.

I am happy in winter in boots or occassionally trainers with thick socks but i seem to spend ALL summer with bleeding open wounds on my feet Sad

today i'm trying ballet flats with a small ankle strap under trousres but i'm sure i'll be blistered on my heel, even my birkies rub me on the top of my foot where the strap is.. plasters (even compede) never seem to stick to my feet and just bunch up and make it worse.

do i just need to suck it up and be brave? will my feet harden to it if i can just bear the pain? why do i see women all over the city wearing actual shoes without tears in their eyes?

I hear you. I dread Spring, as it is the season of foot pain and bleeding. I think I have wide feet (on the front) and unusually narrow heels - I don't know, but everything seems to make my heels bleed instantly and profoundly. Compeed is the answer, but it sucks as you don't always have them, and it shouldn't actually be that hard - it's not like I'm wearing stilettos. I find Birks are good, but they are so frumpy. Havanaias (sp) cut the inside of my toes. We are cursed. Long live winter boots and thick tights :(.

hopefully you realize that your feet hurt because you don't have proper fitting shoes.
you can mask the pain fix the blisters or take time and find a shoe that suits your width arch height toes better....

lolalament · 14/04/2017 01:44

Stop using "party feet" and other such gel things. They actually make the problem worse

gamblino · 14/04/2017 01:45

I've tried them all - Clarks, orthopaedic, etc etc. There's no vanity here - just a lot of wasted money on supposedly comfortable and supportive shoes that don't work. Hence the frustration. All advice very welcome.

If I won the lottery my one luxury would be hand made shoes. I have very wide feet (eee ) and really struggle to find comfy shoes that are not granny shoes. I usually have to go to Evans and only have leather shoes that "give" a little. I find regular visits to the chiropodist keeps my feet looking good and they feel so nice afterwards.

Sock and boots in winter, socks and sandshoes in summerSad

stonecircle · 14/04/2017 08:02

I live in Skechers at home. Their flip flops are really comfy and I can't normally wear toe posts.

In the winter I wear boots to work.

But now I've got the usual problem of what to wear for work when it's too warm for boots.

I'm prone to plantar fasciitis so can't wear flats. Have knobbly toes which rub and a broken and badly healed toe on one foot. I blister terribly. Hate this time of year!

Moleskin - its like pink felt you can either stick it in the backs of the shoes or directly onto your feet. It's fab.

Zombie thread

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 14/04/2017 10:18

I have really wide feet but they are too small for Evans shoes, I'm a 4.5 or 5 but even the 4s in Evans are way too big, even with insoles and heel pads. I have found that Brantano do a nice range of wide shoes that aren't all granny styles, I think they are Caravelle brand, and they are quite reasonable. I can never get on with party feet and so on because I find they cut.into my foot where the edges are - the only ones that are comfy are the foam ones that hook.over your toe to stay in position.

AlternativeTentacle · 14/04/2017 10:20

I know it is a zombie thread. But i had this all the time. Turns out my feet have grown since the last time they were measured and i solved it by wearing a size bigger.

ZeldaWasMyGransName · 14/04/2017 10:24

I have found my people. Also know if is a zombie thread but beyond pleased to have found some suggestions!

sandgrown · 14/04/2017 11:02

Thanks will look in Brantano

I hardly ever wear shoes without socks, pop socks or any form of foot coverage. I generally don't wear sandals and I did once have a pair of leather ballet pumps that didn't need anything on my feet. They were the best. Aside from foot rub I hate bare feet in shoes, your feet sweat even if they're real leather. Pop socks are a life saver, they are very old fashioned but I adore them! Grin

AliceKlar · 15/04/2017 15:19

Another one with same problem. I can only wear fitflop mukluks in winter and trainers in summer. I DREAD being asked to any social thing where either of these would be an issue. Can't wear birkies or even fitflops without toe posts.

I remember rubbing surgical spirit on my finger tips when I first started violin lessons as pressing on the strings hurt so much. It won't look very nice if you use it on your toes I guess because it really makes the skin callous after a while. Well it did on my fingertips!

BusterGonad · 15/04/2017 15:25

I wear tights all year round and trainers on holiday. Flip flops just on the beach. It works for me.

onedayatatime73 · 15/04/2017 18:02

Do you have bunions? I had them for years without realising the size of them made me buy shoes that didn't fit my feet so permanently covered in blisters. Had my bunions sorted (most amazing method / no plaster casts) and now I love buying shoes again.

hiccupgirl · 15/04/2017 18:37

I have this problem with most shoes. I have wide feet but only at the front so heels can be loose and rub or shoes are too tight at the front and rub my last 2 toes.

I'm also a 6.5 so places like Evans are useless for me - the 6 is a good width but slightly too short and the 7 is way too big.

I wear a lot of Clarks shoes. I have a pair of Birkis that are good but do sometimes still rub and my best pair of sandals are a Hush Puppy pair from their outlet about 3 yrs ago.

AgeingArtemis · 15/04/2017 23:11

oneday how did you sort your bunions? I've got some I'd like to get rid of, but they're not bad enough to consider surgery yet

JennyRosa · 15/04/2017 23:44

I only wear Fitflop shoes now, they are the only shoes which don't hurt my feet. They have loads of different shoe styles - I hate the flip flop style (can't wear toe post sandals) but their skater style and Oxford style shoes are really comfy and a good balance of smart/casual.

kungfupannda · 16/04/2017 09:05

I have a massive problem with shoes - I had a club foot which was corrected with surgeries but is now a bit of an odd shape.

Pretty much all shoes I try end up hurting so much they are worn once and then abandoned.

I have, however, discovered Toms. These are consistently comfortable. They're not particularly hard-wearing but they're not all that expensive so can be replaced more often then pricier shoes. I even got a black pair for work and unpicked the Toms label so it just looked like a normal slip-on shoe.

onedayatatime73 · 17/04/2017 18:53

I sorted bunions with non invasive surgery. Travelled to Brighton to get it done. Both feet done at same time. No plaster casts. Expensive bit worth it. Bunions are progressive. They'll only get worse

imjessie · 17/04/2017 19:04

I've got really tricky feet , I basically keep trying until I find shoes that work for me . Then I buy every colour .

imjessie · 17/04/2017 19:04

I bought some really nice pumps from topshop And they seemed comfy but an hour in town today and my feet are bistered !! Hmm

MaryLennoxsScowl · 17/04/2017 19:38

What exactly did they do to fix your bunions, oneday? And did you get it on the NHS?
