Any reason why boys of 11 and 13 can't wear these sandals?

I am loving these lighter soled, bucking sandals for my sons - very 70s and retro - with bare feet or socks I think they are lovely.

Any thoughts?

It depends on how fashion aware they are.

Goblinchild · 03/04/2011 13:30

Really? You can't see any reason why they might be unhappy at your choice?
Why are you asking MN and not the boys themselves?
Grin OK, good luck with that.

TotorosOcarina · 03/04/2011 13:32

Aren't they for girls?

Clarnico · 03/04/2011 13:32

Well they're women's shoes for a start.

And that style is for younger primary school and preschool age children.

And I think they would get picked on, tbh.

So that's 2 reasons.

Sorry.

What do your sons think?

usualsuspect · 03/04/2011 13:32

I can think of lots of reasons

The main one being they are bloody awful

they would look cool with white socks though Wink

Goblinchild · 03/04/2011 13:34

I've just shown my DS.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to show him he could be so much worse off in the parenting stakes.

moogalicious · 03/04/2011 13:34

a joke surely OP? My nan wears these.

Goblinchild · 03/04/2011 13:35

Is it April Fool's somewhere else in the world today?

IQuiteLikeVodka · 03/04/2011 13:37

eeeeeeeewwwwwwww!!! don't be so cruel!

ladysybil · 03/04/2011 13:37

of course they can wear them, if they live in a place with no gender stereotyping. Since such a place doesnt occur on this planet, they must be quite happy living on mars, or wherever.

AlmightyCitrus · 03/04/2011 13:37

They will die of embarrassment and be ridiculed by all their friends.

moogalicious · 03/04/2011 13:38

Nothing to do with gender stereotyping. They're vile!

Clarnico · 03/04/2011 13:39

Sarah I thought you were someone else and did a search on your name.

You are overly obsessed with these sandals.

amerryscot · 03/04/2011 13:39

Can the op repost with a clickable link, please?

Clickable for amerryscot

eeeeek!!!

usualsuspect · 03/04/2011 13:41

link to the lovely sandals

moogalicious · 03/04/2011 13:41

I Understand ladysybil Smile - I was just recovering from a 1970's flashback when me and my brother wore similar!

amerryscot · 03/04/2011 13:44

Thank you!

Hmm. They say women's, which is a bit of a clue. I would wear these myself, for my frumpier moments, but I don't think they would be appropriate for a pre-teen boy. You can't run, slow down your bike, or climb trees in these.

I recommend amphibious trainers.

fairtradefloozy · 03/04/2011 13:46

OMG, are you my mother recycled? She forced me to wear similarly hideous things by dint of the fact they were my ONLY summer shoes (except she made me wear mens, not womens because they were cheaper). They weren't cool retro or lovely in either the seventies or the eighties. I now spent a fortune on therapy shoes that are lovely.

Do NOT do this to your children. They will be ridiculed and they will revile you. Sorry to be harsh. I feel you need to hear the truth.

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 03/04/2011 13:46

bloody hell ! You'd struggle to get many women under 40 into those monstrosities, let alone almost teenage boys. op really your poor sons!

NorbertDentressangle · 03/04/2011 13:47

I remember those from the 70s when I was a lass and I wouldn't even have worn them then.

They were old-fashioned and frumpy then, let alone now in this ultra fashion concious day and age.

So, that'll be a 'No' from me then.

amberleaf · 03/04/2011 13:48

They are fucking awful.....this must be a late april fools day joke surely?

thefirstMrsDeVere · 03/04/2011 13:48

They are nice than crocs...

ladysybil · 03/04/2011 13:49
