www.clarks.co.uk/find/department-is-women/enduses-is-casual/heelheight-is-low/product-is-20346423

Only with jeans and linen trousers in summer.
As an alternative to converse type shoes.

I have very skinny feet and ballet pumps don't really fit.

Anything at Duo? They do narrow fittings.

FrancesFarmer · 02/04/2011 14:48

Thomasbodley, those shoes are just gorgeous.

chickchickchicken · 02/04/2011 14:49

i like the first pair

brimfull · 02/04/2011 14:53

1st link from clarks are ok , not my style but I think they'd be nice worn as you describe

2nd link and next flowery ones are vile vile vile

MickyLee · 02/04/2011 14:56

Winter is fine for shoes because you wear socks but I find summer shoes very hard to find for walking around. My feet are soft and shoes in summer rub me. Ballet flats always blister the back of my heel too. Better when the weather is really warm and can wear thong flip flops!

thomasbodley · 02/04/2011 15:17

If your style is quite classic and preppy, what about suede moccasin car shoes (the ones with rubber nodules on the soles)? Tod's are the originals but there are loads of cheaper and the colours are gorgeous. They don't rub either.

Cabbage you're quite right, I'm not a walker Blush.

cabbageroses · 02/04/2011 15:36

thanks ladies- helpful.
I was thinking of Tods style loafers too- so will look.

OP posts:
DonaAna · 02/04/2011 18:14

Cabbage, I think the first pair could work in the right context, with very pared down accessories, if your ankles are slim. The Next pair is so ugly I'm left speechless (they look almost orthopedic).

Tod's are beautiful but be warned that if you are a serious walker, you will wear them out (the nodules are made for sitting in the car, not pounding the pavement).

mumtoted · 02/04/2011 19:55

NO, not even for a dare.

mrsravelstein · 02/04/2011 19:58

clarks shoes no good for skinny feet, they are wide and deep i find

RamblingRosa · 02/04/2011 20:03

Have to say I don't like them OP. I too struggle to find shoes to walk around London in the summer. I usually end up wearing Birkenstocks everywhere (and then changing into something smarter at work).

Birkenstocks come in a narrow fitting you know. And you can adjust the strap to make them tighter/looser.

Also, have you checked out Terra Plana? They do some really comfy shoes and I'd say they're nicer than those clarks ones.

RamblingRosa · 02/04/2011 20:05

Like these terra plana ones

milkysmum · 02/04/2011 20:10

I think they look great. I am a young 30- not a hippy! No No No to kitten heels if you have to walk more than 100 metres!!!!

Cattleprod · 02/04/2011 20:50

These bloody shoes have now turned up as an advert plastered across my Facebook page!!!

All a bit creepy and big-brotherish - good job I wasn't clicking on something dodgy!

mrmistoffelees · 02/04/2011 21:08

I think if you are over 40 the first Clarks pair are ok, if under, not really. I'd either stick to converse, or any of the below are better.

Hush Puppies

Birkenstocks

more Birkenstocks

cabbageroses · 02/04/2011 21:47

I don't find Birkies comfy- I did have a pair.

I want something that coveres my toes- am paranoid about someone tramplng on my feet when walking in busy cities. Also need something slightly covered in for when it's cooler.

OrangeBernard · 02/04/2011 21:54

The op's suggestion are fugly but the second suggestion are really nice

WhatsWrongWithYou · 02/04/2011 22:36

Excuse me mrmist - I take exception to the assumption that over 40 = cornish pasties on the feet!

mrmistoffelees · 02/04/2011 23:05

Well personally I can't see myself wearing shoes like those even in my 40s but generally would imagine it to be over 40s that buy shoes like that! Suppose they look comfy.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 02/04/2011 23:19

'even in my forties?!'
What do you suppose happens when you reach that dreaded decade? You don't suddenly grow style blinkers and lower your sartorial standards you know!
Fwiw, my mum's in her 60s and she wouldn't wear shoes like that.

mrspink27 · 02/04/2011 23:33

I love camper for ballet type shoes. Mine are like slippers and I wear them all through the summer, definite value for money!

camper again

or these? from oxygen are really comfy also - range of styles and colours and cheaper than camper.

mrspink27 · 02/04/2011 23:35

oxygen again might be good for thin feet?

cabbageroses · 03/04/2011 09:31

Mrmiss it's a bit daft to be ageist.

The reason i asked was:
Clarks have some terrible granny shoes- but they also have some nice ones.

I think these could possibly look quite trendy.

I have decided I shall have to look and see as opinion is so diivded. They may not even fit.

Some of you like them, others hate the Idyllic pump- the 2nd link- whereas others love them.

OP posts:
Pannacotta · 03/04/2011 11:06

How about something like these from Clarks?
www.clarks.co.uk/find/department-is-women/mcrproductsubtype-is-pumps/product-is-20343123
They look comfortable and quite simple/classic. The metallic ones look the nicest I think.

cabbageroses · 03/04/2011 11:55

I have tried those on and need to try again.
The 5 was too smal l and I suspect the 5.5 might be too big.

The navy actually looks purple- my DD was with me at the time- she's 22 and dead cool- and thought they were deep purple.
