So, assuming that you're like me and that you couldn't move after doing the first 2 days of Evil DVD From Hell, did you just keep going? I want to do it but my muscles are so hurty that isn't it going to damage them if I keep going? I can't even get up the stairs properly, how am I supposed to do more lunges?!

I usually do it early morning (pre dc wake up) or late night, but risked a mid-morning session the other day .. 2 of my dc insisted on joining in (with felt tips as weights) and baby sat on my tummy during ab work. There may have been a kick or two administered during plank jacks. These may or may not have been accidental ...

WickedWitchSouthWest · 30/03/2011 22:28

Ok ok I phoned it in! After a hellish day with two sick kids I decided sofa and wine was more appealing :) I promise to do it tomorrow!

PassTheTwiglets · 31/03/2011 06:15

LTEC, my kids do it too but with apple juice cartons as weights! I use cans as have no weights, do you think I will get anything from that or does it have to be heavier weights?

fruitstick · 31/03/2011 06:48

Can I ask? Is it for the karst and unfit (me) or is it one of those where you need a certain level of fitness to get anything out of it ?

notyummy · 31/03/2011 08:00

Nothing wrong with starting off with cans - although realistically to see proper results you need weights IMHO. You should feel utterly knackered - like you can't do another rep and really pushing yourself - if that is true for you with cans at the moment then fine, but for progress you will need something heavier. It is true, if you are only exercising for 20 mins and hope to see a change in your body, then you have to prepared for those 20 minutes to be pretty hardcore, and to be a sweaty quivering heap by the end!

Although it is a hard workout, I wouldn't say it is only for those who are fit already. There are modified versions shown of most exercises for those who cant yet do the 'full' version. It is really about a state of mind - if you are unfit but determined to do something about it, and dont mind pushing yourself to do that, then this is ideal. You will see much quicker results than ages going at a gentle pace on a treadmill or crosstrainer.

i haven't done mine for a week after doing it for 2 months.

still fat Grin

notyummy · 31/03/2011 08:11

Have a look at some of the results that the ladies have achieved here.

ullainga · 31/03/2011 09:04

it's supposed to hurt. As said, if you want to see some results doing only 20 minutes per day, you better really go all out. moving actually helps against the pain, so keep going.
It's fine for beginners, as it has 3 levels and 2 options at each level. And if you don't manage it perfectly the first time - so what, you'll do better soon.

One thing I would complain about, triceps or bingo wings don't get any attention, so I would recommend doing some additional exercises for those, you'll get ideas from here.

TragicallyHip · 31/03/2011 09:10

I started on a Friday, couldn't walk for the whole weekend and by Monday was ok so started again and was fine.

After doing it for over a month I took a week off as I was ill and started again on this Monday, oh the pain the pain! That was only level 1! Did Level 2 on Tuesday and still the pain. I feel ok today so will be doing one of her other dvds. Lets hope I can walk tomorrow!

What you have to remember is it IS worth it. Bingo wings have gone and my thighs are much less wobbly!

HTH Smile

TragicallyHip · 31/03/2011 09:11

I use 2 kilo weights as well but that is probably a bit too heavy!

ullainga · 31/03/2011 09:38

I use 5 kilos and it's fine, but I've always been quite strong. if possible, get a set of different weights or adjustable ones so you can move up when you get stronger. also you might want to use different weights for different exercises, those front raises (level 2 i think) are more difficult than biceps curls for example.

MikeRotch · 31/03/2011 09:40

im intrigued

i excercise already
are oyu lot big fat biffers?

notyummy · 31/03/2011 09:44

Wow Ullalinga - 5kg is impressive! I use 3kg, although have to drop down lower for the squat and v raises. I use 5kg for the squat and clean in level 3. I don't do it 5 days a week - more like 2, along with other exercise. I do levels 2 and 3 back to back on one day and then either level 2 or 3 on their own on another day. Am now mixing in BFBM - and will soon be giving 6W6P a try when it arrives from Amazon.

LauraNorder · 31/03/2011 09:48

Right today is the day - I am going to start shredding! Wish me luck.....please! Grin

LauraNorder · 31/03/2011 09:59

Bugger bought it so long ago I can't find it Angry

notyummy · 31/03/2011 09:59

Excuses, excuses... Wink

LauraNorder · 31/03/2011 10:00

Found it - no excuses now! Blush

LauraNorder · 31/03/2011 10:46

Oooooooh just finished! Feeling a little wooozy! Grin

LauraNorder · 31/03/2011 10:49

So how long do you do level 1 for before you go up to level 2?

ConstanceFelicity · 31/03/2011 11:00

Oh I did it for the first time this morning too Laura! My legs feel funny. I had to watch Brothers and Sisters for a whole hour to get over it (And it helped to imagine that when I'm lithe and firm, Matthew Rhys will turn up at my doorstep wearing nothing but a pout... :o )

LauraNorder · 31/03/2011 11:02

Oooh yes although I'm a bit sticky and sweaty to do anything with him at the moment.

I was helped along a bit during the jumping jacks sections as DD (aged 2) tried to join in - if I had been allowed to stop for more than 5 seconds I would have videoed her, soooo funny!

ConstanceFelicity · 31/03/2011 11:05

Teehee, my 18-month-old was clutching the dvd box as if it was the Tweenies. I managed to get a photo!

TragicallyHip · 31/03/2011 12:50

5kilos??

I thought I was quite strong using 2kilos, clearly not! Grin

Haha Mike! I'm a size 8 but need to tone and get rid of that pouch that is my belly!

I did Level 1 for 10 days before moving to Level 2 Laura. You'll know when you are ready to move up.

PassTheTwiglets · 31/03/2011 12:57

I also lost mine as I bought it so long ago - had to buy a replacement! I think I will buy myself some weights but as I also need some decent trainers and a sports bra this is turning out to be quite an expensive project!

OP posts:
fruitstick · 31/03/2011 13:39

I've just bought it.

I've lost £18 already :o
