FitFlops - what are they like, in desperate need of comfy spring shoes?

Hi just wondering if anyone can help with any experience of Fitflops,

I have feet "issues", converse rub my feet most trainers rub me and i end up with cuts scars and a lot of pain.
I need good foot support to walk in, i have a slim high arched foot, so i keep twisting my ankles if I?m not wearing snug footwear.
I need to be tied in also so no slip on shoes.
I came across these fitflop sneakers and was wondering if anyone?s tried them, they look converse-ish
It?s a big step for me I don?t usually wear trainers! I'm more of a boots person but as a transition shoe and to save my from damage I?m considering these,
And do they really "tone" you???

I haven't had these, but have had the fit flops and the mukluk boots and they are both very very comfortable. They are quite wide though and I have a wide flat foot and they fit me perfectly so I would really try them on before you buy.

I have lots of foot problems and have found them to be the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn.

As to whether they tone your legs, no idea!!

polyhymnia · 29/03/2011 12:44

I have the Supertone, as well as some Fitflop sandals and boots.

Don't set much store by toning claims myself, but, if comfort is your priority, they are incredibly comfortable, including the Supertones which are my latest purchase.

PinkOlives · 29/03/2011 12:46

haha that is why i put it as my last question! would be an added bonus. i liked these as they seemed less bulky to trainers. thanks for telling me about the fit, will need to investigate.

yes, definitely recommend trying on - I always do even if end up ordering online.

PinkOlives · 29/03/2011 12:48

oh great Polyhmnia, youve tried them, are they quite wide? comfort and support is my priority (and how they look)

Order from boots online free del and returns. I have numerous pairs of sandles and three pairs of boots. I haven't tried the sneakers yet but it's only a matter of time.

fairtradefloozy · 29/03/2011 21:20

I want to marry my fit flops and have their babies so i don't keep having to buy more

In fact they are all i can wear at the moment because I wore my big sneakers and rubbed the hugest ugliest blister ever.

Also have the fitflops sneakers which are comfy - why oh why didn't I wear those instead?

stylenotfashion · 29/03/2011 21:28

I have mukluks, superboots, supertones and the sandal type.

I love love love them! They do tone, for a while at least, then they get a teeny bit softer but still uber comfy.

I used to get sciatica and bursitis but the fitflops have solved these issues - it's all down to the cushioning I'm sure.

Best shoes ever but beware - they are addictive and I now begrudge those occasions when I have to wear 'proper' shoes!!

HelenBaaBaaBlackSheep · 29/03/2011 21:57

I had some fitflop sandals last year and thought they were really comfy (second only to croc flip-flops). I don't think they tone anything though.

maryjane71 · 29/03/2011 22:04

I'm on my second pair of fitflop flipflops and have worn my boots for the last two winters. Can't rate them highly enough. Go and try them on in a shop then order online. The black original boots were £220 in a shop in The Trafford Centre but I got them for £160 from Running Bear's website.

orienteerer · 29/03/2011 22:05

I love my (summer) fitflops for comfort, not convinced they actually tone.

maryjane71 · 29/03/2011 22:06

btw I'm on my second pair of flipflops only because the first pair I bought were a size too big. They do 'give' despite what their site says.

orienteerer · 29/03/2011 22:07

Stylenotfashion - I have chronic hip bursitis and wore fitflops all last summer, very comfortable but no help with bursitisGrin.

polyhymnia · 30/03/2011 00:16

Yes, they are quite wide - as are my feet. I don't have to have special 'extra wide' shoes but would be uncomfortable in anything narrow.

polyhymnia · 30/03/2011 00:33

PS stylenotfashion - totally agree about their addictive properties - quite traumatic when have to start wearing 'normal' shoes.

PinkOlives · 30/03/2011 09:46

Oh great lots of info here, think I'll pop to john lewis for a try on first, would like the supertone sneaker style.
Running bear you say?
Lol Fairtrade you are addicted, I too am blister queen. Wonder if they come in half sizes if they do give. The last thing I want is to create extra room. What sort of bottoms do you all wear yours with, just normal jeans, I suppose it depends on the Fitflop.
Hope I'm not in danger of yet another addiction Grin

It's Running Bare for online Fitlops. Sole Trader and Cloggs also good. And Boots of course. Don't come in half sizes. I wear my Supertones with jeans. Most of the summer 'flipflop' styles will go with dresses or skirts too.

stylenotfashion · 30/03/2011 10:18

It's actually runningbare.co.uk (lol at the idea of a running bear!!) Cloggs.co.uk and shoetique.co.uk are also ver ver good.
They don't come in half sizes, and don;t 'give' massively, just like any other leather shoe.
Bear in mind some are on the normal base (sneakers, boots, walkstars, electra, rokkit, hooper) and others are on a slightly slimmed down base (fiorella, floretta, pietra) in which case if you have wide hooves like me you may need a size up in the slimmed base to fit you.
They are all I wear day to day so I wear them with everything - jeans, cutoffs, skirts...love them to bits!
HTH

PinkOlives · 30/03/2011 10:29

Running bear could work too haha, ok so the ones i like are sneaker based so should be ok for me, although poly you say they feel wide, maybe i can wear chunkier socks. Will try then search on online. They look very versatile, ie with jeans etc

Thanks for all your help, im really damaging my feet with the wrong footwear so really happy to invest in these if they work.
Funny about the last point, i thought they sold themselves on the toning issue but seems to be the least point people note them for. Prob their comfort outweighs any other benefit.
