HAH!

I'm going to be there and I am not in the least bit stylish.

Although I am, of course, treeeeeMENdously gorgeous.

So even if none of the lovely style ladies can help you out (although I'm sure they can), you an console yourself with the fact that you are bound to be more stylish than at least one other person there...

Grin

I might lurk for ideas though

Tillyscoutsmum · 28/03/2011 21:43

I think its a different night out Smile Not the Spring meet up. Its a 40th birthday party for someone on my post natal thread (and I know they are all stylish and gorgeous Wink)

Lurk away though ... Just in case anyone comes to our rescue

Right, what's your budget?

Tillyscoutsmum · 28/03/2011 21:52

Ideally £100 ish (excluding shoes etc.) but could go a bit more if it made me feel amazing

OP posts:
tethersend · 28/03/2011 21:56

How about something like this?

Tillyscoutsmum · 28/03/2011 21:59

Grin I've actually got that dress for a wedding I'm going to later in the year. It is very flattering but I wanted something a bit more "night out"

OP posts:
tethersend · 28/03/2011 22:01

Or you could splash out on a Viv Westwood drapey number- here or here

tethersend · 28/03/2011 22:07

This could be good

Tillyscoutsmum · 28/03/2011 22:08

Hmmmm - I know lots of people have said they are flattering but I can't help thinking jersey will cling horribly around my tum (it really is awful Sad).

OP posts:
Tillyscoutsmum · 28/03/2011 22:08

Like the All Saints one... none in my size though

Is the print foul on this ?

OP posts:
tethersend · 28/03/2011 22:09

Ha, I was going to link to that one but thought you wouldn't like the print Grin

tethersend · 28/03/2011 22:13

I like this and this too.

I'm having a bit of an all saints moment. Someone'll be along in a minute to tell you all saints are shit Wink

Tillyscoutsmum · 28/03/2011 22:18

I like the look of All Saints stuff but I'm never sure if I'm a bit too old for it.

quite like this with opaques and heels. Are opaques a no no for a summer night out ?

OP posts:
tethersend · 28/03/2011 22:25

When's the party? I think opaques are a must, esp in London.

Oooh, how about this?

Tillyscoutsmum · 28/03/2011 22:30

End of April - which I know is not technically summer but has tended to be warmer than July/August the last few years. Glad to hear opaques are a must though. That opens the options. My legs aren't bad (when covered).

Not sure about the zebra print one - looks a bit shapeless ??

is this taking the draping thing tooooo far ?

OP posts:
tethersend · 28/03/2011 22:32

Possibly. It's one of those you'd have to see on; it could work brilliantly.

So you fancy something a bit shorter, potentially?

Tillyscoutsmum · 28/03/2011 22:38

Yes - not ridiculously short but mid thigh would be fine. Shorter makes me feel more "night out" I think

OP posts:
animula · 28/03/2011 23:02

I liked the dress at 22. 08 . 58, and the ones at 22. 13. 50 even more.

Opaques would be great. Leggings if you want to dress down.

Super dresses - you are no way too old. The v. nice thing about London is that even elderly ladies such as my good self are permitted to wear All Saints, and no-one bats an eye.

Haven't looked at dresses after those two, was so sure you will look fab.

ShowOfHands · 29/03/2011 19:47

Stylish? You mean the birthday girl. She's stunning.

Me? Well my fashion sense is known on S&B. They tried to ban me.

I will be wearing Doc Marten's. Anything you wear will look fab by default. Have you seen the dress code?

Dress Code:
Smart casual, no caps/hats and no sportswear.

So no to your shell suit.

Tillyscoutsmum · 29/03/2011 19:49

Grin You're getting me mixed up with the Scouser Wink

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 29/03/2011 19:53

All people north of Newark wear shell suits. Fact.

Do you want to know what I'm wearing to stop you worrying?

Tillyscoutsmum · 29/03/2011 19:55

Phew - I'm definitely south of Newark

What are you wearing ?

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 29/03/2011 19:58

Doc Marten's and a smile.

No... wait for it... hang on to your shell suit...

A black dress. I know, I know it's cutting edge.

If you want it in S&B speak it's a grandad maxi in jersey. I will be teaming it with a chunky purple necklace and bracelet and boots. I will also be wearing a purple velvet jacket (short, empire style with oversized buttons) but only because Gin despises velvet and I don't know how else to stop her groping me all damn night.

Tillyscoutsmum · 29/03/2011 20:03

No hat ??!

Sounds lovely. I love purple. Any thoughts on any of the links on here ? I think this one might be the favourite so far...

OP posts:
ShowOfHands · 29/03/2011 20:07

I'm not qualified to comment on clothes. I can usually successfully recognise colours and lengths and then I flounder. I'll have a browse and see what I think.

The dress code says no hats. I'll hide it up my jacket until later. I always wear a hat, you must know this by now.
