Good quality children's PJs - any ideas?

I need kids' pyjamas that will last through 2-3 children and a vast amount of tumbledrying. DC1 is just coming out of his "must have some character on it" phase Grin so plain (ish - no logos), no buttons, long sleeves & legs.

I've been looking at Boden, John Lewis, White Company etc but are they worth it? Would they last without going mishapen?

Also, how does sizing compare?

I'd recommend John Lewis pjs. Nice designs (I think) and wear well. DS1 is 6.5 and his 7 year old versions are a bit snug now, so I'd size up.

There will be plenty of wear left in them for when DS2 is a bit older.

Petit Bateau PJs are lovely. They always seem to be on the small side.

I find the Vertbaudet winter ones excellent ( not the cheapest)- they have washed and re washed and dine 2 dds and can be passed onto another. I have not tried the lighter weight ones but if these were anything to go by I would consider them

white company ones last v well - have done 2 dcs and still look good. i find the old fashioned button up flannel ones last longer. sizes are quite generous.

What size do Petit Bateau go up to (can't see on their website)?

Are Gap all skinny ones?

I had the JLP ones in my basket at the weekend Grin but had no idea of how bomb proof they are.

I have only had terrible ones from John Lewis, maybe I was just unlucky, but I wouldn't buy again.

Vertbaudet winter are fantastic esp. the boucle ones, not available atm though.

Boden very good, though I do find the long john style don't wash that well and come up very small.

My favourites would be Frugi (expensive but will easily last though 3 children, unbelievable quality) and a German brand called living crafts but I can't find a currect stockist, sorry.

CAKE will give you a 10% discount at Frugi according to a thread on here.

Boden are very good (though I hate to admit it), the ordinary ones not the long john style, which do come up very small. I've tried lots of different boys' pjs and have settled on Boden ones. They wash and wash and wash and really last and are not syntheticky.

the boden ones are very good, i have very skinny children so prefer the long john tight fitting ones but i always buy a size bigger, most people buy 2 sizes bigger in this style. My children have clean pjs everyday and i always tumble dry.

I second gap.

DD2 is wearing DD1's now and they are still in v good nick.

They are expensive but I only buy them when they have that 30% voucher thing running and they aren't so bad then.

Definitely not Mothercare, they lose their shape and elastic.

We've got White Company pjs here and love them. The legs are a lovely brushed cotton and we have 'mix and matched' whith a lovely soft long sleeved T. So should be good for summer and winter.

Another one here for Boden. I have two boys and they love these.
Wash great,still in perfect nick for hand me downs,in fact I then pass them on to a friend who has 3 smaller boys!
We get the longer ones in Winter.
I think it is good value for a twin pack.

My vote would be for Boden any day, they don't get worn out, they are just outgrown.

I use NEXT for my boys. They wear really well and wash and tumble well too.

Also White company - although they are a bit pricey.

Really controversial here.............. I have found the Primark ones to be really good and have passed them on to my friends children. They are the brushed cotton ones and are lovely!!

WhiteCompany- the gingham/plaid flannel ones or the sets of 2 stripey ones - fantastic, wash and wash and wash- still look fantastic.
The ones with pictures on (we have had fairies, princess castles, space etc)- not so good... get misshapen, fade a lot, etc

I don't tumble dry at all though...

Gap- always go 2 sizes up as very snug-fit (US Fire regulations)- wash very well, trousers seem to be a bit thin (my crawler went through the knees on his favourite pair, though he was at least 3rd child to have them)

Gymboree- like gap, snug fit. Fantastic quality- wash and wash over and over, hard to get hold of in UK now though.

TBH- the very best value we've had have been sainsbury! They do the plaid flannel type in winter, which although have only been through 1 child so far have been worn to death, and are perfectly good for next child. The ones they do at the moment- 2 pairs about £10, boden-style, size up one size as quie short, but pretty good quality, wash very well without fade. Only time will tell how long they last(each child been wearing since november), but half the price of the others.

White Company ones are fantastic. Pricey, but well worth it. I bought check flannel ones for DS and they were £14, but they're so nice. I also made the mistake of buying a long sleeves pyjama top from there - another separates piece - but the quality was the same as a long sleeve t-shirt from anywhere else. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing special either. But I 100% recommend the bottoms.

Also flannel ones from Gap are good (but you can't always get them - more often than not, they've just got their jersey ones).

And I think anything by JoJo Maman Bebe is fantastic quality. They usually have an offer on pyjamas when you buy 2 pairs.

Can't comment on Boden, sorry.

Boots ones have always been fab too. They last and last, and I throw them in the tumble dryer all the time. Usually something like 2 pairs for £15.

John Lewis ones have been brilliant. Wash really well. DS still regularly wets the bed so washed regularly and they are as good as new.

I find the sizing on gap and boden to be really odd so they only seem to fit properly for about 3 weeks.

Some lovely ones here.

White Company also good but I tend to save these for 'photo' pyjamas (birthdays, Christmas etc)

Jojo don't go big enough unfortunately as they have cool stripey ones.

I want cotton, not flannel.

Can you see the gap ones online?

You don't want buttons, so I can't recommend my favourites - the Primark brushed cotton ones. They last forever, honestly. My DC mix and match the bottoms with t-shirts when it's warmer.

I have tried many brands for DS but always go back to Boden (just about the only thing I do buy for him from there these days).
DS is a tall skinny 7 year old so I like the long john style. The wash and wash and wash and last. I buy them 2 sizes bigger than his usual size and he is still wearing some that are over 18 months old.
