Good quality children's PJs - any ideas?

I need kids' pyjamas that will last through 2-3 children and a vast amount of tumbledrying. DC1 is just coming out of his "must have some character on it" phase Grin so plain (ish - no logos), no buttons, long sleeves & legs.

I've been looking at Boden, John Lewis, White Company etc but are they worth it? Would they last without going mishapen?

Also, how does sizing compare?

My ds has Gap bottoms and chaep plain t shirts as tops, because the tops often end up with breakfast down them or srtained with something unspeakable like guinea pig pee! Taht means the bottoms go on forever but the tops are replaced as necessary.

Next have worn well (though a bit faded).

Have had fab hand me downs from friends from Little White Company, gingham check wears v well and stayed bright.

Jersey fabric from JoJoMamanBebe - don't bother! I've taken back two pairs because the tops have shrunk so badly after only a couple of washes (30c) and tumble dry, though the bottoms were fine. very odd.

John Lewis wore well though again a bit faded so wouldn't pay more for those over the ones from Next.

I will add a vote for Frugi pjs (and clothes in general). I think there is 20% off with "WARDROBE" at the moment.

I'm disappointed with the 2 pairs of white company PJs we have. They're not looking great after one child.

The boots ones are fab quality and Gap ones have gone on and on and still looking good.

Disappointed with ones we've had from Debenhams and M&S.

i absolutely love dpam stuff bran. we have had fabulous boys' & girls' clothes from there. great quality & really nice prints. worth a trip to paris!

ChateauRouge · 28/03/2011 20:57

I never really understood why mini mode was so nice (lovely bright colours, not too many logos/weird pictures) when Adams (who designed the mini mode stuff) was so vile!! Confused

DPAM is great... just wish I'd discovered it when my children were small enough... I fell in love with a 6-12m outfit when DD was about 18mo Sad

I second Frugi. Love the quality, the price is worth it bearing in mind how long they last, easy to wash, can be tumbled, don't shrink, lovely & soft. I sound like an advert, but this is the one brand of clothing that has never let us down. To save money I sometimes buy the next size up in the sale, but if you see the PJs, buy quickly as they tend to sell out fast (with good reason - they're fab Smile).

White Company and Brora

i just bought a load of gap pyjamas yesterday reduced to £5.99! dd2 is wearing dd1's and they're fine.

seeker · 28/03/2011 21:22

Just checked Brora because I didn't realize they did children's things.

Please tell me nobody spends 50 quid on kid's pyjamas?????!!!!!!

Boden last very well here, the baggy ones that come in two-packs. We manage with one summer and one winter set each child. The material is thicker than normal T shirts and they keep their shape & colour well even with my incompetent laundering. ( The long john ones have gone out of shape a bit. We have easily got two years' fit out of every set. One set was secondhand to us and still looks fine.

why not order some and have a look, you can always send back?

hoxtonchick · 30/03/2011 20:51

they are good for my not-at-all skinny ds too. we are bang to rights on the pasty celts though Grin.
