I had this done last year - my skin was properly hydrated she said (one of the only ones that day apparently [smug]), and although i had freckles the damage wasn't too bad - still was recommended to use a moisturiser with SPF50 though. Twas really interesting.

LindaLaPlumeDeMaTente · 25/03/2011 17:05

Yes I am expecting BIG things. I have gulped down half a botttle of Evian, applied the eye cream she flogged me and am sitting here waiting

withagoat · 25/03/2011 17:07

isnt the hystration thing a myth though?
drinking water does nothing to your skin

LindaLaPlumeDeMaTente · 25/03/2011 17:09

bollocks of course it does

bunsandroses · 25/03/2011 17:09

I had one done a while ago and found it v depressing as I also had one big freckle called my face! Is there any treatment you can have to reverse sun damage. Does a skin peel treat it?
I just wear my DS kids factor 30, do you think thats ok or do I need a posh grown up one?

withagoat · 25/03/2011 17:09

drinking water makes NO difference

withagoat · 25/03/2011 17:10

The bottom line
There is no scientific study or research showing that drinking 8 glasses of water a day hydrates skin. If that was true, no one would have dry skin anymore! Instead of forcing yourself to drink water when you don?t want to, which won?t do you much good, just eat a healthy diet and take proper care of your skin to avoid its protective barrier from getting damaged. That?ll make your skin look good.

PortBlackSandwitch · 25/03/2011 17:10

It's just to sell you treatments. Your skin doesn't really look like that - of course they are going to make you look and feel worse...

noddyholder · 25/03/2011 17:13

I had this done as transplant drugs do make teh skin more sensitive to teh sun. It is quite scary! Drinking water definitely has an effect though. Not on the actual pigmentation but on the texture.I was part of a trial for this in about 2004 and the results were incredible.Worth a try even if I am hopeless at doinf it!

LindaLaPlumeDeMaTente · 25/03/2011 17:13

Port its made me wear sun cream which can only be a good thing, non?

AND I know I need to drink more water I am a shrivelled up prune

So ner

THANKYOU NODDERS

OP posts:
withagoat · 25/03/2011 17:14

there is NO SCIENTIFIC PROOF though noddy

you drink to sate thirst
your body expels excess water out of yer arse

noddyholder · 25/03/2011 17:14

You have to increase the water you are taking in and keep it in by eating enough salt and wearing a barrier cream with an spf. These are the only things which have a definite effect.

Saltatrix · 25/03/2011 17:15

Erm that link says that drinking lots of water a day hasn't been scientifically proven (therefore unknown whether it does or doesn't make a difference) to have an effect. However it also says that "There is no doubt that skin needs water" just that we often get that water from food and other beverages which is why we don't have to drink 8 glasses of water a day.

withagoat · 25/03/2011 17:15

more proof its shit

noddyholder · 25/03/2011 17:16

Well there is as it was done when I had had my second transplant and it was a hospital study. Fancy creams def don't work but e45 does!

LindaLaPlumeDeMaTente · 25/03/2011 17:16

Water can help to reduce the appearance of wrinkles, according to new research.

Almost 1 in 5 women who drank 1.5 litres of water per day saw a reduction in wrinkles after 6 weeks - without making any other changes to their diet.

Water is also said to give us sparkly eyes, clear our skin of spots and make us look glowing and healthy.

I'm not drinkning arsenic- just more water

why are you arguing the toss woman

LindaLaPlumeDeMaTente · 25/03/2011 17:17

Arf at you furiously googling

'Drinking water is shit'

OP posts:
IShallWearMidnight · 25/03/2011 17:17

withagoat, if you're expelling excess water through your arse, then you might need to visit the doctor and get checked out Wink.

noddyholder · 25/03/2011 17:18

I was on dialysis for 2 years and some of the people who were completely unable to get rid of any fluid from their bodies had amazing skin as it was over hydrated. I could still pee and so sometimes I was dehydrated as the dialysis did too much and my skin was awful. I think 23 of us did the trial and it worked for all of us.Everything is effected by water balance which is why kidney failure destroys everything in your body but skin really suffers

withagoat · 25/03/2011 17:19

lol
you drink as much as oyu need

most water is taken in through food
you can live withouth drinking JUST water

"According to Claire Williamson, nutrition scientist with the British Nutrition Foundation: "If you take into account what you eat, you only need1.2 litres of fluids a day, and that fluid does not have to be water. Tea, coffee, fruit juice ? they all count, as does alcohol, so long as it's not too strong." But if I don't drink a ton of water my skin will shrivel off, won't it? Again, no. Or, as a recent study by the foundation puts it: "There currently appears to be little scientific evidence relating to the effects of water consumption on skin hydration, and whether drinking more or less water actually has any impact on skin appearance."

"

smellyeli · 25/03/2011 17:19

Erm, forgive me for butting in (excuse the pun) but I'm concerned that withagoat may have a plumbing issue down below if excess water is coming out of her arse.
