Casual Dresses with boobs (cont.)

SarkyLady · 25/03/2011 13:41

Oops. I seem to have bought 4 dresses.

Blush

apologies to those who've already helped in my search for a dress that I could wear round my 32hh's.

So I ordered two french connection dresses from asos:

Pretty Blue floral

bit garish? looks brighter in RL

While wating for those I went to buy bras at bravissimo and came home with these:

stripes

great shape, not sure about the colour

I really can't keep them all, but they all fit pretty well.

Which do I keep?

(I'm a 12 at the bottom, 32HH at the top, blonde, fairish skin)

French Connection ones are my favourite. How long are they?

SarkyLady · 25/03/2011 14:00

The 'garish' one is slighly shorter than i'd like - maybe 3-4 inches about the top of my knee. The stripes is about the same.
These two would (I think) work well over jeans/leggings?

The two floral ones are a bit longer - a better length on me.
I think these have to be worn without stuff under. If we ever get a summer...

Am vering towards sending (at least) the last one back...

I'm slightly biased, as not only do I have the blue version of your FC butterfly one, but I have the colour you bought in a different shape! I don't find it that bright but I do wear a lot of colourful clothes, pale colours just wash me out.

The stripes are fab if you have the figure to carry it off, I like the shape of the second brav one as well but it depends how you look in small prints ( I look pregnant or like I've borrowed my mum's clothes!)

SarkyLady · 25/03/2011 14:06

hmmm...

Tis possible that I look just like your mum :)

(am 37 btw)

Hmmmm, do you have a mouth like a cats bum from 45+ years of smoking and hair like a hedgehog?! I think you're probably safe!!

I'm just enjoying colourful bold prints at the moment as I'm so glad to be out of drab maternity clothes! (I'm 24 and felt about 44 when I was pregnant)

SarkyLady · 25/03/2011 14:15

thanks for that Grin

Am interested in the fit of the striped bravissimo one as a fellow norker (size 12 with 30Js). And does it make em look MaHOOOsive??? Cos it is really fresh and on-trend and I am tempted.

EustaciaVye · 25/03/2011 14:30

Missed your other thread.

Question. Can a maxi dress look good on someon who is 5' and a G cup.

SarkyLady · 25/03/2011 15:03

Sassy
They do look pretty massive ... but then they are Grin
tbh it is a really good fit though. I have the 12 R/SC.
The fabric is pretty heavy so it doesn't cling.
I like it with skinnies.

Eustacia
I usualy look ridiculous in maxis. But maybe that is just me.
I tried on one of the bravissimo ones yesterday. It looked less shit than any other that I've tried on but was so low cut that most of my bra was on show. Not a good look (even if it was a very nice new bra).

OP posts:
scotsgirl23 · 25/03/2011 15:07

I quite liked the look of that maxi too - eustacia, if you're a G thenit might work with the Freya Deco bra under it, I think the shape might match the neckline quite well

Now if only they'd make it up to a J, eh Sarkylady.......

LessNarkyPuffin · 25/03/2011 15:10

Try them all on (with bag on head if you want to protect your secret identity). Take pictures - you may need assistance as you'll have a bag on your head. Post pictures on your profile.

SarkyLady · 25/03/2011 15:10

Which maxi are you talking about?

OP posts:
scotsgirl23 · 25/03/2011 15:42

I meant the bravissimo maxi, sorry. The freya deco bra - it's a moulded plunge that only goes up to a GG and would fit nicely under the bravissimo maxi dress I think.

I keep wishing that weight loss would make me go down in the cup but it seems to just make me down in the back and up in the cup instead, very annoying!

woopsidaisy · 25/03/2011 16:30

Sarkylady, like you I am a 32HH. I di get some dresses from Bravissimo, but not loving that much out of their at the minute.
I too am on the hunt for some casual, everyday dresses for Summer. Haven't found anything of note yet,but have ordered two of these. I got them with the 20% off,so not too bad price wise. Just keeping my fingers crossed that they will be ok. They look like they should fit boobs well...will find out in four weeks.

woopsidaisy · 25/03/2011 16:38

That would be "did" and "there" obvs...

Gingefringe · 25/03/2011 16:51

I've had a few clothes from Bravissimo and without exception the quality was really poor after washing a few times - wonky seams, hemlines curving up, faded colours and the like. So if you are thinking of returning one - I would send the Bravissimo one back even though it does look quite nice in the photo.

Like the French Connection by the way.

SarkyLady · 25/03/2011 17:22

Ginger.
My experience of bravissimo clothes is exactly the same as yours. But others on here convinced me that the quality had improved recently so I thought I'd give them another try. To be fair they have always given me a refund on stuff that washed badly.

Also my experience of fc quality has not been great either.

And to repeat... That bravissimo maxi is insanely low cut. They don't seemed to have added nearly enough material onthe curvier sizes. I could not leave the house in that dress!

OP posts:
WhatsWrongWithYou · 25/03/2011 17:35

They're all nice, but on me the FC ones would make me look like a plastic bag tied in the middle.

The stripes are fab, but I'd be too conscious of my muffin top and arse - I'm sure yours is fine but I'm getting on a bit Smile. Ditsy print, for me, would potentially be the best shape but I'm not keen on polyester.

The Boden ones look promising as well, but it's a question of whether the seam comes up over the boobs, so it's a matter of trying on, I suppose.

I'm wearing a similar shaped dress to the Boden ones today, and it's okay but not ideal because of the gathers - anything gathered increases the size of my mid-section, which I like to use normally to emphasize my hourglass shape Smile.

Good tip to help decide: take photos instead of just looking in the mirror - helps to make you more objective.

EustaciaVye · 25/03/2011 17:39

Thanks. I was talking maxi dresses in general tbh. I like the bravissimo one but think it is a bit low cut.

JaneS · 25/03/2011 19:45

I love the print on the 'garish' FC one! Gorgeous.

Hope you don't think I'm rude, but I think the little flower print on the second Boden one is a bit matronly?

SarkyLady · 25/03/2011 19:48

Which one is matronly?

OP posts:
woopsidaisy · 25/03/2011 21:56

Eek! Matronly is not the look I was going for.Grin
I was going for the young, breezy and slightly sexy mummy...

JaneS · 25/03/2011 22:26

sarky, I meant this one www.bravissimo.com/pepperberry/products/dresses/day-dresses/ditsy-floral-dress/multi-floral/cc14mf/?show=16&sort=1&P36=TRAKTR&AFF=skimbit

Sorry! It's just what I think - it'd be lovely on someone with pert little B cups, but I know on me that print with the boobs wouldn't work, and I'm smaller than you are.

Mind you, of course I have not seen it on you and perhaps you look gorgeously va va voom in it - don't take me too seriously if you love it!

SarkyLady · 25/03/2011 22:30

that's ok. Was confused as you got your brands muddled :)

Think you inadvertently offended woops!

That one is still top of my list to go back. I would call it twee rather than matronly. Either way is bit good...
