bear in mind I am a more mature person!

They fit reasonably well but not sure if they are nice or a bit old fashioned. would wear with skirts and linen trousers.

I like them, they're really nice - but Shock at the price

cyb · 12/03/2011 08:10

how mature are you cabbage?

cabbageroses · 12/03/2011 08:12

well....... this sounds awful, but I look much younger than I am Smile I can't say it any other way but people who do not know my age are very surprised. I am 55 but people think I am mid 40s.

I think there are nicer gladiator style sandles around tbh. I think its the heel bit of those JL ones that makes them not quite right

cabbageroses · 12/03/2011 08:16

The heel is not really a heel when you see them IRL but IKWYM.

I don´t think that they are frumpy at all. I had some geox sandals in the past and I found the fit a bit strange but I have fairly wide feet.

cabbageroses · 12/03/2011 08:33

I have narrow feet and found them a tiny bit loose but not too bad.

I have 2 pairs of beautiful flat Dune sandals but neither is comfy enough for lots of walking.

Granny chic. My MIL would love them. This is exactly what she would pick for a package tour to Greece. Oh and she is 70.

higgle · 12/03/2011 09:00

I think they are lovely in the tan/brown, but then I am 54. I couldn't wear them as I need more of a heel as I have short legs.

Bunbaker · 12/03/2011 09:34

They don't look at all grannyish to me, but I am close to you in age cabbageroses.

cabbageroses · 12/03/2011 09:42

maybe I will order and try on at home.

I think they look cheap, even though they're not!

polyhymnia · 12/03/2011 11:40

I'm also 'mature' and have to admit I've had quite a few Geox shoes and sandals I've really liked and which have been comfortable and a bit 'different' (in a good way). They've worn well too, so not really very expensive.

Some of their designs are certainly boring but IMO by no means all.

I don't think they do usually look cheap in RL either.

Have bought most of mine in Italy and there always seem to have been stylish Italian women buying at same time. That's who I probably associate them with rather than unstylish British grannies on package tours - I'd see them (probably unfairly) wearing Clarks, or even Hotter, not this Italian brand.

My other shoes are Russell and Bromley, L K Bennett, and a few Boden.

cabbageroses · 12/03/2011 12:02

well I saw some lovely ones in R&B but they were £155.

if the studs etc on these were gold i think they would look cheap, but they are silver and look okay to me.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 12/03/2011 12:22

I'm 47 and I'd consider them frumpy. I think it's the rubber sole and heel and the fact that they're geox.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 12/03/2011 12:28

Something like this is cute I think.

SeeJaneKick · 12/03/2011 12:29

Well I would wear them and I am 38. They're not Mumsy at all imo.

alemci · 12/03/2011 12:30

I think they look nice and it is better to have something that fits your feet properly

cabbageroses · 12/03/2011 12:31

I do have other sandals that are much prettier and dressy- mainly by Dune. BUT I need a pair I can walk in- I often walk 3-4 miles across London and flimsy sandals just don't cut it for me.

OP posts:
polyhymnia · 12/03/2011 12:32

Hmm, can see where you're coming from. But it is the sole and heel which actually make Geox sandals like this comfortable, and cushion the feet when walking on cobblestones, etc. - that's why I wear them if I'm walking round Rome all day, then put my R and B glads on for evening.

Agree Geox will never be cutting edge, but think I have a more positive image of them because I first encountered them in Italy, whereas in England they do tend to appear only in shoe shops selling 'sensible' ranges, who therefore choose their most conservative styles.

Cabbageroses, quite agree about the studs. I have an aversion to gold studs, to the extent that the fact the metal is all 'gold' is what's putting me off buying one of this season's gladiatorish styles in R and B (just as well, as can't really afford them).

SeeJaneKick · 12/03/2011 12:33

Exactly cabbageroses...I also walk a lot...I'm not ruining my feet with nonsensical shoes when you can get pretty and practical ones like the ones in the link...keep the flimsy ones with heels for nights out.

cabbageroses · 12/03/2011 12:34

Hijack- do you live in Rome?

OP posts:
polyhymnia · 12/03/2011 12:34

Posts crossed. The Topshop ones are certainly cute but wouldn't hack it for me either if walking 3-4 miles in a city, as cabbageroses says.

YesPleaseDrChristian · 12/03/2011 12:34

Good grief they are ££££

I'm 37 and wouldn't wear them. But my very stylish and on-trend mum prob would aged 60.

polyhymnia · 12/03/2011 12:35

Crossed again. No, alas, but am lucky enough to go there quite often.
