I'm with moongirl Smile

Mamaz0n · 06/03/2011 19:12

so people on benefits should run their intended purchases past a panel to decide if they are acceptable or not then? Hmm

Names and indeed neck tattoos do seem to be the fashion at the moment. They aren't my kind of thing but then, that is why i don't have them.

shimmerysilverglitter · 06/03/2011 19:21

But I don't understand why tattoos and benefits go hand in hand? Confused.

You labelled yourself.

Mamaz0n · 06/03/2011 19:24

because only those no class dole scroungers have tattoos obviously Hmm

shimmerysilverglitter · 06/03/2011 19:27

Well yes that does seem to be the implication doesn't it?

StealthPolarBear · 06/03/2011 19:30

lol at news and weather

SardineQueen · 06/03/2011 19:32

I don't understand the association either TBH. Most of the tattooed people I know are alternative/goth/pierced types. I guess some people just love to pigeonhole people?

Driftwood999 · 06/03/2011 19:35

shimmerysilverglitter - I did not say that "tattoos and benefits go hand in hand" My point is that lots of people spend money they simply cannot afford on "extras" It's not a difficult concept.

Mamaz0n · 06/03/2011 19:39

Who are you to decide whether or not they can afford it?

MillsAndDoom · 06/03/2011 19:44

They're not cheap either - friend had a little wrist one done - cost £60.

shimmerysilverglitter · 06/03/2011 19:44

But why mention people on benefits specifically?

Driftwood999 · 06/03/2011 19:44

Mamaz0n - As I have made clear, if you can afford it and it's your bag, go ahead, tattoo yourself. It's a free country. Do not want to know that you need help on the NHS to put it right...

Mamaz0n · 06/03/2011 19:49

NHS?

I am very much a tat fan. I have lots. Most of my friends have them and I am involved in the "scene"
I am yet to meet anyone that had to recieve treatment from the NHS.

In fact the only incident i can think of was in America where a woman had a severe allergic reaction and needed treatment.

Fimbo · 06/03/2011 19:51

Why go to all that pain when you could simply get one of \link{http://www.amazon.co.uk/Grossman-Tattoo-Sleeve/dp/B000V7E2FG\these}.

Driftwood999 · 06/03/2011 19:51

Then that's OK with me!

Mamaz0n · 06/03/2011 19:53

Grin Fimbo. My dc have those.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 06/03/2011 19:54

I can't see in the OP where it says the OP was on benefits Confused

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 06/03/2011 19:55

I can't see in the OP where it says the tattoed lady was on benefits - not the OP sorry - being climbed on by toddler

shimmerysilverglitter · 06/03/2011 20:02

No me neither so was wondering why it was mentioned by another poster.

So to summarise your posts driftwood, people who have tattoos are tramps on benefits who spend money they haven't got on tattoos, which then go wrong forcing the tax payer to fund corrective surgery on the NHS and you don't want to hear about it.

Ooookay then Hmm!

Driftwood999 · 06/03/2011 20:02

OP did not mention the tattoed lady being on benefits. It was me that speculated that in some cases...blah blah. So sorry for any offense I may have caused with my contribution.

Mamaz0n · 06/03/2011 20:03

ROFL at Op being on benefits.

especially if she is who i think she is.

nurseblade · 06/03/2011 20:03

A lot of lovely prejudice on this thread. My tattoo cost me £700 and hasn't held me back in my career. When people call them tramp stamps do they mean tramp as in homeless person or tramp as in woman with 'loose morals'? Either way it's pretty grim and says more about the person using that term than the person with the tattoo.

Evizza · 06/03/2011 21:01

I have quite a few tattoos, including the back of my neck. All are nice and look good, and most importantly, every tattoo has meaning to me.

Its all about personal taste. There are many things that I think look awful on women, but I like my tattoo's and thats all that matters to me Smile

MoonGirl1981 · 06/03/2011 22:29

I have three.

A moon on the inside of my wrist (Moongirl, see?).

Large fairy with pink hair and wearing a bunny slipper (tribute to my beautiful pet rabbit/soulmate who sadly died - she's sitting on her other foot so you can only see the one bunny which I drew myself), she's got three butterflies flying around her and one sitting on her hand.

Three butterflies flying together on my ankle/lower leg (representing myself, my partner and our son).

Combined cost of about £300.

I love them. Also want some flowers somewhere, but not decided what or where and am in no hurry.

With all of mine I felt as though my body was missing something without them, if that makes sense. I felt like I HAD to have them done.

I have never been on the dole, they were paid for with hard earned money. However (just to clarify) if people use their benefit money for tattoos then I don't mind - is up to them! :)

Good value for money, they last forever!!

MoonGirl1981 · 06/03/2011 22:30

The fairy is on my back. So not frequently seen by others. Shame. It's bloody amazing!!
