Gorgeous ladies, can we discuss our 'taches?

Slightly taboo subject, but here goes:

I have a moustache. Nothing dramatic, am blonde so slightly longer blonde hairs on top lip and a few darker ones.

I've been Nairing them. Am too much of a wimp to pluck and won't use bleach since I saw a really bad moustache bleach job randonly one day (this lady looked like a Swedish man - seriously).

I've also seen women who seem to have accepted it and just leave it there. Sadly I'm too vain for such practice.

What does everyone else do?

What is the regrowth like after waxing and threading? Been a bleacher so far but think it's time to get rid of the Swedish tache look.

Pancakeflipper · 03/03/2011 16:31

Waxing - the hairs do get finer after time. After many years they are getting downy but that's cos the hairs have opted to grow on my chin.

I should do it once a week and that way I'd look hairless! But in reality tends to be every 2-3 weeks.

SluttySlutSlutOfTheSkies · 03/03/2011 18:41

Mine is called Tom Selleck and he is sugared every 3-4 weeks. Have tried Jolene (is that what it's called? always make me want to sing and oik my norks out like Dolly Parton), and waxing and threading but Tom prefers sugaring now.

NettoSuperstar · 03/03/2011 19:18

My Kevin likes a wax when I'm flush, he has to put up with nair when I'm skint, and sometimes, a touch up with the JML Beauty Wand.
I purchased the Wand for my nasal hair.
I'm re-thinking my Noel Gallagher/Kevin off Corrie comparison, as I'd forgotten about my nasal hair.

Actually, I just looked liked Mr Twit.

belcantwait · 03/03/2011 19:26

I used to just bleach it then it started getting seriously bushy so have been having electrolysis on it every two weeks since start of jan. It's painful but oh so worth it. It's noticeably better already and by maybe end of summer it will be hair free forever more yippee

Snotgobbler · 03/03/2011 19:33

I have a full face beard. I had an emergency c section and had to stay in hospital for SEVEN DAYS withot MY TWEEZERMAN TWEEZERS.

It was almost as traumatic as the op.

I really want the new Boots IPL you can use on the face. The reviews are fantastic but I need a MNetter to tell me it's amazing and ok to load up my credit card

NettoSuperstar · 03/03/2011 19:53

The whole reason I need to never go back on a ventilator is because I don't want to look like Mr Twit again.
Also, they make you take off your nail varnish in hospital. It's unreasonable.

I don't have a credit card or I'd be tempted.
I'm guessing an IPL is a permanent non Mr Twit making machine?

Lulie110 · 03/03/2011 20:04

Snotgobbler I HAVE the Boots IPL - (see above in thread) - it is a success but I've not yet dared to try in face. Please buy it then come back and promise me that it did not scar you ?

Snotgobbler · 03/03/2011 20:24
Grin I have been umming and ahhing for a month, I don't want to get old and have to be shaved in my high seat chair every morning I am a bit disturbed that it says don't use if you have thyroid probs, diabetes, lop sided grin etc etc should I get screened for all these things first? I mean what on earth could happen?
googietheegg · 04/03/2011 08:39

Has any had threading in France? I've not seen it in salons but then I don't know what it's called?!?

diddl · 04/03/2011 09:27

Hair removal cream here.

Have got a "spring thing" which I can occassionally get to work but it´s a bit eye watering when it does

Sadly now that I´m menopausal the tache hairs seem longer & more down the side as well iyswim.

I started a thread on this before xmas, and decided to use hair remover... I do it before I go to bed, its great but I do need to do it about every 7 - 10days

Lulie110 · 04/03/2011 21:22

googietheegg, think I've seen it called both l'épilation indienne and l'épilation au fil ??

googietheegg · 04/03/2011 21:50

Lulie thanks, I'll have a look now I know what I'm looking for!

Dancergirl · 04/03/2011 21:58

I used to have mine professionally waxed.

BUT I'm in the middle of having permanent laser treatment - and so far, it's a bit reduced but still have a way to go. Will keep you informed of progress!

Attended to mine this morning with my 15x magnifying mirror from Superdrug. Tis a revelation, I'm telling you.

Lucyintheskywithdiazepam · 04/03/2011 22:11

I'm having laser removal on my underarms...it's really just an experiment to see if it works before the circus claims me as their bearded lady I tackle the 'tache and chin.

I've only had one full session so far but the results are already noticable...there are defintely areas where there is no/minimal regrowth. If I get the same degree of results with each session, my pits should definitely be bald adn beautiful in a few months. Then it'll be the turn of the 'tache to get zapped. Then I quite fancy getting my arms and legs done too. I really should just splash out on the Philips doodah but I'm crap at inflicting any sort of pain on myself ,big girls blouse emoticon>

namechangesgalore · 06/03/2011 10:29

Does it hurt Lucy? And if so how much?

LucyInTheSkyWithAntiHistamines · 06/03/2011 16:43

It hurts less than waxing. The woman who does it described it as like having elastic bands flicked at your skin and that's a fairly accurate description.

I paid £139 for 6 sessions using a voucher from the Groupon (My City Deal) website. I think the full price cost should have been around £300, But I've seen other places in my town advertising sessions from £29 each.

KirstyAllsoap · 06/03/2011 21:55

Lulie and snotgobbler I've got the Boots IPL and have used it on my face with no scarring! It says only use it on the lowest setting but I use it on medium and it's been fine. It hasn't got rid of every last hair BUT it has made a massive difference. They are finer, sparser and slower growing. It was worth every penny (I've got dark hair and pale skin)

Momentarynamechange · 06/03/2011 22:39

I'm a big fan of the epistick/epicare thing. Also saw a thread on here and bought one from e-bay.

Although it really bloody hurts!

It is effective though (proof is in the spring lol). Advice is to do it regularly, once a week or so, and then becomes less painful, but I'm too chicken busy...
