Tinted moisturiser: should I bother with a cheapy or go straight for Laura Mercier?

I'm wondering whether to spend my Boots points on a No7 tinted moisturiser or wait for my birthday (April) and go for Laura Mercier?

Is it that good and worth waiting for?!

No7 isn't that bad at all.
Wait for the promos with the £5 off and it'll be a cheap alternative. If you then don't like it - it's only £5 wasted and you can get the LM one.

Pinner35 · 28/02/2011 21:36

I have both and the No7 one is good, but the Laura Mercier one is fabulous and it lasts for ages. I would wait.

Hassled · 28/02/2011 21:37

Bobbi Brown Bobbi Brown Bobbi Brown

DunderMifflin · 28/02/2011 21:37

Hmmm - I should check whether it's included in their current skincare promo - good point...

I buy Benefit "You Rebel". I quite fancy trying the LM one though, does it have an SPF? I need one as have skin cancer.

DunderMifflin · 28/02/2011 21:38

Ooooh - I didn't know that the BB one was good - am googling now

The No7 one burnt my skin (but lots of things burn my skin!); I just got a tester of the Lancome Hydra Zen tinted moisturiser and it's very good, might be a good compromise (although I've no idea how it compares price-wise)

Pinner35 · 28/02/2011 21:42

The Laura Mercier one does have SPF (20 I think).

DunderMifflin · 28/02/2011 21:44

The BB one has good reviews and now Benefit has been thrown into the mix and I like them too - who gives good testers?!

OP posts:
SwearyMary · 28/02/2011 21:53

Oh fab! Thanks for that pinner. Yes, I agree we need some testers for all of these. Who is brave enough to ask MNHQ to run a tinted moisturiser tester, like the honey one? Grin

MNHQ? Please?

I used to be a die-hard Laura Mercier fan and loved her tinted moisturiser but have recently defected to Bobbi Brown's tinted moisturising balm - it is absolutely amazing and has spf 25 to boot :)

SwearyMary · 28/02/2011 22:19

Oh Sans SPF 25 would be very useful! I am new to the whole applying SPF everyday and just learning that make up has it included rather than layering up under the slap which I don't like as prefer an unmade up look!

CountBapula · 28/02/2011 22:25

A tube of the Laura Mercier lasts me 5-6 months. I found the Bobbi Brown balm a bit slimy. The best thing about LM is the buildable coverage - it layers up really well to cover any dodgy bits, while still looking natural.

DrSpechemin · 28/02/2011 22:28

Yes to both bobbi brown and laura mercier - i have recently defected to LM as she does an oil free tinted moisturiser whereas BB don't. Had previously used BB for about 6 years before swapping.
The LM has really good coverage - more than the BB one.

Jewelsandgems · 28/02/2011 22:50

Bobbi brown all the way for my but yes it does give dewy coverage but thats what i wanted :) I used to use the mac one before bobbi down and it was positively shit in comparision (wierd colour and patchy)

Have heard great stuff about LM tho :)

tulpe · 28/02/2011 22:56

Chanel Hydramax. Excellent coverage and leaves your skin beautifully soft.

polyhymnia · 28/02/2011 23:07

Laura Mercier definitely the best,IMO - I use one with SPF 20. I've also got the Bobbi Brown tinted moisturising balm, which I do like in winter but, if I only had to have one, it would be Laura Mercier - wouldn't think it's much dearer trhan Bobbi Brown anyway as her stuff is very good but not exactly bargain basememnt.

Tried a bit of No 7 on my hand instore today and I know that's not the proper way to try it - and also that I'm very pro Laura Mercier - but it didn't seem to be in same league in feel or appearance.

Ceolas · 28/02/2011 23:13

I converted to using a bit of foundation with my normal moisturiser a while ago after reading about it on here.

Works well for me.

lololizzy · 28/02/2011 23:16

i hated the LM, it emphasised my pores badly and made me look really shiny

beijingaling · 01/03/2011 01:56

I'm going to try LM tinted oil free when I'm next in hong kong. I also want to try the Becca tinted moisturizer. Anyone tried it? The BB one has too thick coverage for me.

I've used LM for years, except a few months on maternity leave when I couldn't afford it.

The cheaper ones are nowhere near as good.

ZacharyQuack · 01/03/2011 08:24

Clinique MoistureSheer is really nice.

UML · 01/03/2011 08:31

I recently bought some laura mercier tinted moisturiser, with my sister

Went home, tried it one - my sister had been given the wrong shade :( £33 out the window!

We kind of let the lady decide (as we are make up newbies) and she only did a patch test...

UML · 01/03/2011 08:31

But it is good!
