Flares - whose going to do them then?

I have just purchased these amd they are very nice indeed.

Now I'm only 5ft so was sceptical but they are actually pretty leg-lengthening especially as worn long with high wedges.

Now just have to figure what footwear to wear with them now and what tops.

I am I am! Almost bought those Jessie's but they were a bit too long for me to wear without heels. Have seen the Gap ones which I am lusting after, but can't decide between these or these. I wear a lot of navy so I was thinking the plum might work well with??

southeastastra · 23/02/2011 18:02

there not proper flares are they? i have some similar from topshop, just watch you don't get your feet trapped in them going downstairs Grin

southeastastra · 23/02/2011 18:02

they're!

Cybsaysbaggsie · 23/02/2011 18:04

based on the size of my arse and thighs, like Theo, I'm out

traceybath · 23/02/2011 18:06

Dairy - I found the gap ones too flarey for me and also liked how the topshopones are skinnier on the thight.

Sea - they seem really flarey to me after only wearing skinnies for ages Smile

But do easily see how I could go a over t espeically in high wedge sandals.

Exhausted - thats a very pretty top - definitely think the blouse tucked in thing thing would look good as they're quite high-waisted.

tracey I like them, agree great with wedges.
I like wider leg trousers in summer, always have done.Smile

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 23/02/2011 18:12

Most certianly not - I did them the first time round, and have a rule that if you wore something high fashion the first time round, then you are definitely too old the second time! Any of you wearing lunes with lace inserts in the legs yet?

ChippyMinton · 23/02/2011 18:16

Love the GAP ones, they are proper flares. The Jessies look like granny-stylee bootcuts.

i had flares about 3 years ago - not sure if i was ahead or behind the pack. will dig them out Smile

traceybath · 23/02/2011 18:18

Topshop ones more flattering on me and whatever makes my thighs look skinny gets my vote Smile

just looked again at the pics - they must be better in the flesh. Seen any cork wedges about?

dairymoo · 23/02/2011 18:26

Tracey - have you tried the plum/grey ones? I've tried the pintucked ones and they are quite wide, but I love the waist-cinching properties. I haven't tried the plum ones yet though and wondered whether they are as wide in the leg as the others.

Meggles76 · 23/02/2011 18:32

Tracey - am also 5ft and agree that they are leg lengthening with wedges Grin

I think that much more flared ones are the reserve of the slim and tall!!

I am currently wearing mine with sky high tan stack heeled boots and silk pussy bow blouse. When it gets warmer, I will be wearing with my tan T bar wedges and a breton top - uber chic Wink

CointreauVersial · 23/02/2011 18:32

I love the flares/wedgies combo, and was looking forward to digging out my pairs from a few years back, but I've gone down a couple of sizes recently, and I'm gutted they probably won't fit.

And I bought a gypsy top to go with them!

bandgeek · 23/02/2011 18:36

I LOVE flares - it's the hippy in me Grin

Does anyone know who does them in longer lengths?

traceybath · 23/02/2011 18:39

No chippy they're much worse in the flesh that's why I bought them. Wink

Contreau - buying new clothes after weight loss is fun though. Although a good tailor may be able to alter your old ones but may cost as much as a new pair.

Meggles - oooh that sounds lovely!

Dairy - I tried the indigo ones but they were just too wide through the leg for me and too flarey but didn't see the plum ones but love that colour.

Bandgeek - topshop do a 36inch leg in their tall range I think.

Wearing flares right now. Have 2 pairs, MiH Marrakesh (cheap from Outnet) and 7FAM Gingers (ditto from yoox). Both are supermodel proof in length, haven't measured them but they must be 34 or 35 inches. Waist true to size. Different, both look lovely (Gingers are dressier), and so much more flattering on me than skinnies.

Oh, and I'm 5'7 and had to shorten both pairs a bit.

I feel a bit too 1973 in them with a loose top. Love them with a fitted, tailored, structured little jacket.

CointreauVersial · 23/02/2011 18:45

Tracy - I am a dab hand with my sewing machine. Most of my trousers and jeans have long tucks sewn into the back, but it doesn't always work! But, hey, who needs an excuse to buy new clothes?

Link to the Gypsy Top I just bought to wear with my flares. Looks nice!

GeorginaWorsley · 23/02/2011 18:45

I love wide leg trousers, esp in summer with wedges, vest and little cardigan.

HelenBaaBaaBlackSheep · 23/02/2011 18:50

I'm v tempted by those Gap ones now...

FluffyMummy123 · 23/02/2011 18:58

they just look like bootlegs TB

traceybath · 23/02/2011 19:02

They're not bootlegs - they're skinny flares [stamps feet]

Anyway they look nice.

And remember at 5ft they look much flarier on me.

OP posts:
FluffyMummy123 · 23/02/2011 19:05

oh im not saying they arent nice
just cant see any diff

traceybath · 23/02/2011 19:19

But thats fashion isn't it? Same product with a few tweaks - give it a new name, ensure tis sold in top shop and is correct lenght and not worn with mum-boots and there you go Wink

Oh downtown heels arrived today - love them!
