so I had mine 'done' today and my hair is all shiny, silky, straight and non frizzy. It is lovely.

The salon suggested that I use Johnsons Baby Shampoo to wash my hair with and sold me a large bottle of Fudge conditioner, which I think was a bit of a con, but bought it anyway.

So what is it that I should be using to keep this look and shouldnt be using? I have 3 days until I can wash my hair to get this sorted out.

Help!

I live in Bucks and only let 2 people cut my hair. I am V fussy about my haircut. Blush

I used to travel to Chisick to get my hair done, but have found a local salon which I love. They are very friendly and pretty soon they will be doing the BB at their place.

But thank you for the offer.

Mamatomany definitely get your highlights done first. At least according to my hairdresser, it seals the colour and helps maintain it.

Jax a hairdresser you trust is like gold dust - never let him (or her) go!

cjbk1 · 26/02/2011 20:04

well i wish u all the very best my 'BB' didnt really help but the shampoo i used was a toni and guy one 'rock star approved' bright orange bottle reasonable price.iv had extenso two days ago so hopefully that'l help

mamateur I wont let her go, she is fantastic. We have a great relationship and chat like friends. It has built up over the past 4 years and I know all the girls in the salon.

I have to say, a couple of days after shampooing, my hair is building up more body and the cut is starting to look better (it was so straight the layers looked v. obvious) so perhaps it was all part of his plan.

I HEART MY BB!

My hairdresser would only quote an estimate for the treatment before he did it, he said he charged on the basis of how much product he used - it's very expensive to buy so I don't think it's worth trying to save money by looking for a cheap deal. He definitely uses the one with some formaldehyde - he wouldn't allow DS to come to the appt as usual and we both wore face masks in front of an open window and DS is not supposed to touch my hair till I wash it. I was there for 5 hours total.

siennasmum · 27/02/2011 19:10

Hate to say it but I wouldnt be suprised if the product your having on your hair is a banned formula then as them guidelines are not standard procedure and should not have to wear masks and have never hears of lo not being able to touch hair, for a product to be legal in this country it has to be no more than 0.2% formaldehyde ( I believe ) and anything thy was found to have more was recently all recalled and removed , so do be careful as this was done to not affect the health of clients

I use global keratin which is reLly expensive to buy I use the strawberry formula for a light wave thankfully I did not have the stronger formulas for more straightening effect as they were All recalled and banned :(

I'm actually half tempted, after just 2 weeks to wash my hair in the saltiest shampoo I can find. My hair is so much less manageable since I had this treatment!

eandz · 27/02/2011 23:25

siennasmum,

do you travel to London?

My hair still smells like chocolate! I like it... well I have decided I like my BB. It sits perfectly after I straighten it, but not so well when it is just blow dryed, which I thought was the whole point.

I didnt have to wear a mask, although I was the only one in the large salon. Have just got back from Scotland so will pop into my regular hairdressers tomorrow and let her see it and see what she thinks. Wink

Sorry no x

JaxTellersOldLady · 03/03/2011 20:55

oh I have just discovered a hairdressers local to me that does this. I am going to make enquiries...

namechangesgalore · 03/03/2011 21:29

I had this done and didn't think it did much to my hair at all. Poor value compared to the chemical straighteners I've had.

NJHC- which chemical straighteners do you recommend? My hair is a bit drier than last time I had one done and was highlighted a while ago. Will this mean I shouldn't have it straightened?

Mrs Shrek, I did this too and also clicked on adult fiction topic and was sadly disappointed.

Havingkittens · 04/03/2011 21:14

Anyone had this done and suffered from really bad static hair? Mine has just become mega static in the last week, it's driving me nuts. I keep having to tie it up so it doesn't stick to my face and neck Confused. It's making me feel really claustrophobic!

JaxTellersOldLady · 04/03/2011 21:34

havingkittens nope, nothing like that at all.

OP posts:
belledejour · 07/03/2011 00:15

Havingkittens, my friend had this after her second BB. No idea why but it drove her bonkers too. Think it got better as time went on & also when weather really humid, weirdly.

Havingkittens · 07/03/2011 11:27

The humidity thing makes sense as moisture reduces humidity. If this continues I'm going to have to start rubbing sheets of Bounce over my head!

merlin · 07/03/2011 16:20

Interesting article (sorry it's the DM !)

Hope no-one has had any of the banned ones mentioned.

Last Thursday I had my second Keratin treatment. Different hairdressers and it is amazing! Totally different from last time when it still looked fluffy after blowdrying, but was nice on straightening.

This time it is just great! I have lots of information about what they used Nano Keratin (Copollo) and also the shampoo and conditioner to use. I cannot believe the difference. It was a groupon voucher but the salon gave me a 'welcome pack' with lots of info on the products they used, how to best care for my style and vouchers of 50% off my next brazilian and vouchers off for cut/colour. I am very impressed I have to say.

If anyone wants details of the salon happy to post.

I saw my step mum yesterday and her hair looked fantastic, and she mentioned she'd had a BB.
