Short short hair - can you do it if you're tall and a bit podgy?

I'm tall and a size 14. I have a bob. It looks pretty OK, but I want really, really low maintenance hair, not a bob I have to bloody blow-dry and faff with every morning for half an hour Sad

I am no Halle Berry, though. Will I look like a knobber?

Also - what sort of shot styles look good on someone with thick, dead straight hair? That cute, Michelle Williams-esque elfin crop looks like it is only rally suitable for fine, wavy hair. Am I right?

TIA!

oh wait im thinking of the wrong person Blush

No no, short fringe and flicky out side bits. Kind of a short bob.

With short hair the following is essential:
A VERY good cut (to avoid looking like one's mother).
6 weekly trims (see above).
Feminine, vintage or 'edgy' clothes. Nothing from Next. (for the same reason)
Mascara (to avoid looking like your dad dressed as your mother).

Think it looks great on 7 year olds and any one with amazing cheek bones and big eyes.

Or Grayson Perry!

Recon it might be high maintenance as well.

DeLadyDeGaga · 15/02/2011 19:39

bristols....love the name! Grayson's got a bob hasn't he?

Oh thank God I got lucky in the gene pool with my amazing cheek bones (housing my tongue firmly in cheek) and big eyes.....

Sadly got a large derriere and flat feet too!

I say do it!

bristolcities · 15/02/2011 19:43

Nowt wrong with a bit of junk in the trunk!

And now im even more confused because i thought you were talking about a bob Confused

DeLadyDeGaga · 16/02/2011 10:00

Yep....OP HAS bob and contemplating going short.

Oh God.....looks like I could be losing my marbles again and posting on someone's thread thinking I'm somewhere else entirely!

Just ignore me....

DuplicitousBitch · 16/02/2011 10:02

i think you have to be slim or else it just looks frumpy.

I have short spiky hair, wash towel dry and gel no messing.

It stands up so the white hairs don't look so obvious in my dark brown hair.

I'm soon to be 43 and am currently a size 18, everyone comments when it's short how much they like it.

Only downside is having to get it cut every 4-5 weeks to keep in shape. I've got a great mobile hairdresser so it isn't too expensive.

DeLadyDeGaga · 16/02/2011 20:38

ChildofIsis.....that's me. Good cut....wash, comb....bit of gel to make the sides sit "out" and away I go. I love it.

Am a generous size 14 too!
