Tights and open toed shoes

Is this a hideous fashion faux pas? I have a feeling it is!
Have got a black tie do tomorrow in a chilly marquee inside a barn. Not sure I can face it without my tights as my dress is short and strapless but my shoes are peep toe. Can I get away with it?

Ah, wish I'd known about those before. Not going to get a chance to go shopping tomorrow. Will bear them in mind for future though thanks

sorry did not read post properly ( didn't see you needed for tomorrow !) - what about footless tights ? go with a funky contrasting colour ?? can pick these up anywhere !

tethersend · 11/02/2011 21:39

Tights and peeptoes fine. Make sure they're opaques though.

Many people would disagree with me, but they're all wrong Grin

NancyDrewHadaClue · 11/02/2011 21:41

I agree with tethersend and I am definitely not wrong.

Although you need to be more Alexa Chung than Per Una IYKWIM

wellwisher · 12/02/2011 08:43

Two words: webbed toes. Confused

hardworkingandnice · 12/02/2011 19:01

Are closed-toe black tights OK with open toed black shoes or is this a no-go area??

BelleDameSansMerci · 12/02/2011 19:07

noooooooo!

Not that I like to disagree with tethers btw. I just hate it (but I am old).

tethersend · 12/02/2011 20:06

FIGHT

AintMissBeehiving · 12/02/2011 20:07

In the open toed shoes with tights camp. Better if tights and shoes contrast in colour.

cyb · 12/02/2011 20:09

I think it works in a kooky, burgundy ribbed tights and clonky peep toe wooden wedges way

but not for a posh do

Sorry

Changeisagoodthing · 12/02/2011 20:11

No you will look either like a 1970s hooker or an old granny refusing to buy any shoes as she hasnt got long left.

If that's the look that you are hoping to achieve go ahead.

tethersend · 12/02/2011 20:11

1970s hooker is my signature look.

traceybath · 12/02/2011 20:12

Granny is that you?

cyb · 12/02/2011 20:13

Right you are going to have to describe the WHOLE outfit from top to bottom, colours ,everything

With LINKS if poss

traceybath · 12/02/2011 20:13

Personally I'd have just slapped on the fake tan and froze - just call me Liz Wink

Changeisagoodthing · 12/02/2011 20:13

It's not a bad look if it's what you are intending.

Over excites elderly men which can be interesting.

Changeisagoodthing · 12/02/2011 20:15

Sorry in reply to tethersend about favour ing the 1970s hooker look.

Tical · 12/02/2011 20:15

what cyb said.

Tights with open toe is naffola unless it's a purposefully kooky look.

BelligerentGhoul · 12/02/2011 20:15

I agree with Cyb - good for kooky young American fashion-blogger types with mad tights and tea dresses but not good for an evening do unless sheer nude tights with sheer toe in which case, fine.

Tical · 12/02/2011 20:16

I can't believe I just used the word 'naffola'

traceybath · 12/02/2011 20:17

Oh no visible sheer toes give me the heebie jeebies - so either kooky or just brave the cold.

But anyway you're there now so have fun Smile

AintMissBeehiving · 12/02/2011 20:18

I wear chunky socks with peep toe shoe boots for work. And I rock. Wink

cyb · 12/02/2011 20:18
