Hello stylish and beautiful people,
I need some help. I have been living in brown leather knee hight boots all winter but now I really NEED some shoes for spring. I cannot wear heels during the day & whilst I love shoes like ballet pumps I can no longer wear such flat styles due to a pelvic problem - they really cripple me.

What I need is a pair of shoes similar to ballet pumps but with a heel more like what you would find on flat winter boots iykwim? Or a small wedge perhaps?

I want them to wear with my new gap dark indigo denim skirt with opaques until the weather gets nicer. I also want to wear them with flared Gap jeans and skinnies....it's a tall order I know but someone must have seen something out there?

I like navy, brown, plum etc any colour I can wear opaques with but preferably not black. I quite like emellishment, such as jewels as in the Boden flats (like them but they are just too flat......

Thanks everyone!!

as i have a dark purple cord skirt from Gap that is currently eluding me shoe wise.

Black is too dark - purple too samey

Something like this any good??

Look funn in the pic but I like them in RL. They are available from Russell and Bromley each season (AFAIK) in various colours/finishes.

MrsSeanBean · 08/02/2011 17:30

funny

MrsSeanBean · 08/02/2011 17:31

Hmm could be frumpy depending on length of skirt though. What about loafer style? Not as flat as ballerine?

MilliONaire · 08/02/2011 17:36

Thanks MrsSeanBean,
I quite like them, but I am not sure they would look great with the denim skirt. Loafers are nice (that's the type of heel I mean) might have a look about for some. I wore pied a terre brogues a lot last year with trousers but they make my calves look, ahem, sturdy, with skirts iykwim?

It is SO hard to find nice shoes Sad

I've been looking out for loafers to wear under smartish trousers for work. Office did have some a while back... I think Jones has some more suited to wearing with skirts but think they have bit if a heel...

llareggub · 08/02/2011 17:39

I think this is the holy grail of shoe.

MrsSeanBean · 08/02/2011 17:40

These have a slightly higher heel than some brougues/loafers...

MrsSeanBean · 08/02/2011 17:42

I have some great holy grail shoes which I bought about 14 years ago in Russell and Bromley. They are like a lace-up shoe / desert boot almost - but have a slight (unintentional, as not in fashion then) platform sole as well as a 2in heel - a chunky number. I look after them with v tender care, as I would be buggered if they ever fall apart. But they are so useful - 'flat look' but not flat!

The closet thing I have found since is a sort of lace-up shoe-boot affair - but they are much higher and more formal somehow

planestrainsautomobiles · 08/02/2011 17:47

Had a little look round for you but its actually quite hard - can see why you need help Smile Have you looked at the lotta clogs - see other S&B thread?

Patent purple (size 36 or 37) look here

Black with a peep toe look here

MrsSeanBean · 08/02/2011 17:48

Black but small wedge

MrsSeanBean · 08/02/2011 17:51

Ballerina with heel (not sure about colour though)

noddyholder · 08/02/2011 17:52

i have these they are £29 atm in KG and super comfy and more stylish than the picture

selby · 08/02/2011 17:56

I don't do heels and wear flats/low heeled footwear like yourself but I found that I can wear comfy wedges and my most recent purchase have been these. They are really comfortable and I've been wearing them with jeans, cord mini, wrap/tunic dresses with opaques. The navy is really dark so goes with everything.

MrsSeanBean · 08/02/2011 18:00

I need some of those Fly things, that's the sort of elevated but not formal look I need.

myonlysunshine · 08/02/2011 18:02

purple Dr Martens?

BikeRunSki · 08/02/2011 18:02

I just bought these for work and as many other occasions as I can use them for. Heel is not as scary high as it looks. I see them going with skirts and trousers, smart and casual.

bethelbeth · 08/02/2011 18:06

I wear these

I reckon they take a certain panache to pull off well but they are extremely comfy (they're built for it!) and they look smart and quite cute.

They've also been doing a wonder on toning my calves and I've only been wearing them a month.

Love them!

MrsSeanBean · 08/02/2011 18:08

BikeRunSki - I need some of those to replace my ancient Russell & Bromley version. Fab.

BikeRunSki · 08/02/2011 18:09

Love those Bethelbeth! Much cuter than my ugly MBTs.

Thelastnameleft · 08/02/2011 18:11

bethelbeth I love those shoes, have bookmarked that site for when I have a bit more money...thankyou :)

QueeferSutherland · 08/02/2011 18:21

Marking place!

Those DMs are lovely!
As are the Alegrias.

(I like a clumpy shoe.)

planestrainsautomobiles · 08/02/2011 18:21

A different pair of fly shoes - small wedge

Rannaldini · 08/02/2011 18:24

Decorhate · 08/02/2011 18:25

Can't link as on phone but the Jones ones are called Denham & heel us not actually too bad - search for loafer in their website
