this one

I like it! Need to teach DS to swim and want something i am comfortable in. I am 5'2 and size 10ish.

Honesty please! :) Or alternative suggestions... I also love this but not at that price!

the asos one is lovely, although more of a beach costume than a swimming costume.

doodleboo · 03/02/2011 12:28

that's what i'm wondering about... but i really dislike high leg styles - we need a return to 1950s swimsuit glamour!

Very glam. Boobs may fall out of black one if you're more than an A cup though.

UnseenAcademicalMum · 03/02/2011 12:33

The asos one is lovely, but you need to have really good legs to wear it because the little skirt type thingy will make your legs look shorter.

nickelthenaughtybutnicefairy · 03/02/2011 12:35

i like it.
the 2nd one is goreous, but price is prohibitive.

i think the 1st one is practical nad stylish whilst keeping your flab under wraps.

I think you'd have to try it on and jiggle a bit to check the boob bit is big/sturdy enough.

doodleboo · 03/02/2011 12:39

Under wraps is what i'm going for! I want to enjoy swimming without worrying about any wardrobe excitement!

DuplicitousBitch · 03/02/2011 12:40

i would just go for a plain black speedo type affair with boob support. anything else will have you adjusting yourself all the time

doodleboo · 03/02/2011 12:41

Not too worried about the leg shortness side of things - i have very short legs so nothing will make them look longer, aside from heels, which i won't be wearing to the local pool!

See I am always pulling costumes down, that's why i like the longness. Bfeeding so no problems with a bit of breastyness!

Like duplicitous, I would go for something 'boring' but that you don't have to think about for the local baths/ health club, and save the pretty ones for beach/ resort. Otherwise agree you'll always be adjusting and also perhaps look a bit OTT compared to other mums there. That's my experience anyway.Lands End do some plain but comfortable ones, including long, I think.

doodleboo · 03/02/2011 13:03

will have a look, thanks :)

Definitly not for doing lengths in the local pool but nice for beach days.

Both are lovely. Seafolly ( your 2nd choice) do some really nice ( and expensive) swim stuff!

milkmoustache · 03/02/2011 15:29

Not half as strange as the transparent 'beach trousers' on the same page...

NorbertDentressangle · 03/02/2011 15:35

I love the Asos one, in fact so much so that I had a "Sod it! I'm going to buy that now!" moment....only its out of stock Sad

Have you come across any similar with the Asos-type price?

Ashbury · 03/02/2011 15:43

I love both of them, and would wear them to the local pool - so pretty, and coverage in the right places! I'm all for a return to glam 1950's swimwear. How about these two - skirt a tad longer, but both about £34.
This
or this

Ashbury · 03/02/2011 15:56

Sorry, I ment to put this one as well (instead of the same one in different colours!) Here

upahill · 03/02/2011 16:55

Ashby but you wouldn't be able to swim properly in them. There would be too much drag from the skirt.

Ashbury · 03/02/2011 17:17

I expect that you're right Upahill - I was just overcome with visions of 1950's polka dotted, frilly skirted-ness Smile

upahill · 03/02/2011 17:26

Ashby What with a cute bathing hat and lots of rouge?? Grin

moragbellingham · 03/02/2011 17:39

I saw someone teaching their DC in the pool in a swim dress/skirted suit and it looked great. It didn't look OTT only because there was no cleavage on display and the colours were not holiday brights but more muted patterns. She did have an amazing body tooEnvy.
All the bending over you have to do with them means I would stay away from the ASOS one (boob escape experience). Good bum coverage tooSmile

moragbellingham · 03/02/2011 17:46

animal print? Is this in danger of looking a bit "Miss Mary of Sweden"?
Debenhams ones are good, as is the Seafolly one.

moragbellingham · 03/02/2011 17:52

swim skirt

upahill · 03/02/2011 17:56

BUT Morag!! Gasp It is Boden!!!! Grin

sh77 · 03/02/2011 18:00

I like - I would worry about the cleavage as I have no boobs but it is something I would consider.

doodleboo · 03/02/2011 18:41

No worries for me about drag from the skirt either - i am not a fast swimmer, i plan to do mainly standing in water and instructing, perhaps some light breaststroke (haha maybe not the low cleavage one for me then... :)) Debenhams ones are lovely.

As no-one has shouted "you'll look mad" i may have to go for something with a skirty thing! Maybe i can just go in in my clothes?
