Hi

Opinions on the Babyliss big Hair or the cheaper Tresemme version

Have both on reserve at Argos until tomorrow.

OP posts:
brimfull · 31/01/2011 13:41

can you link to tresemme one?

brimfull · 31/01/2011 13:47

does the brush one the tresemme rotate?
if it doesn't then def get big hair one

SunshineOnARainyDay · 31/01/2011 13:50

Doesn't look like the Tresemme one rotates so definitely the Babyliss one. Got mine for Christmas and it is AMAZING!!!

5DollarShake · 31/01/2011 14:02

Do it. The BBH, that is. Life-changing. Grin

MmeLindt · 31/01/2011 14:03

BBH. Definitely.

Would not say "life changing" but certainly more volume and easier to use than hairdryer and a round brush.

MattsBatt · 31/01/2011 14:04

Hi, sorry to barge in here - I've been thinking about the Babyliss Big Hair for a while - can anyone tell me if it encourages your hair to frizz? Thanks, and sorry again for hijacking, hope this is OK! Smile

MmeLindt · 31/01/2011 14:09

Matts
My hair tends to frizz but is much smoother since I started using the BBH. If you want, have a look at my blog for pics.

HouseOfBamboo · 31/01/2011 14:11

Sorry - can I ask a question as well? Does the BBH smooth out frizzy-ish hair? I want that RATHER than Dynasty-stylee volume...

5DollarShake · 31/01/2011 14:14

I have horrible hair, which is prone to frizz. The BBH sorts it right out. No Dynastic big hair, either - just sleek, shiny bouncy hair - something I NEVER thought I would have!

SunshineOnARainyDay · 31/01/2011 14:16

Yes, my hair is lovely and smooth after using the BBH. If I was to leave it to its own devices it would be frizzy. Using the BBH leaves my hair looking like I've had a professional blow dry!!

HouseOfBamboo · 31/01/2011 14:17

x-post Mme Lindt - have looked at your blog pics, v helpful thanks!

I want one now Grin

MattsBatt · 31/01/2011 14:18

Ooh merci MmeLindt, your hair looks very lovely in your blog pics Smile

My hair is very very thick though, and it takes me 30 minutes to get it dry, even with the hair dryer on the hottest setting, and even though it's only just touching my collar bones, so I'm a bit concerned about adding excess Dynasty-style volume too. I lived through the Eighties once, and have no desire to do it again ..!!

MerryMarigold · 31/01/2011 14:20

I'm sure I read someone say they used it on unwashed hair to give it a boost. Is that possible?

Also, I don't even have a hairdryer at the moment? Is the BBH a step too far?

MmeLindt · 31/01/2011 14:24

Matts
I used to take 20 mins to dry my hair. Now give it a quick blast with the hairdryer then 10 mins with BBH.

I find that I only get lots of volume if I curl the hair around the BBH and hold at the roots. Skimming the BBH through the hair just gives non-frizzy shiny hair. Like using a straightening iron but swishier.

WhatsWrongWithYou · 31/01/2011 14:24

I think the name is mis-leading. The brush is too big to get right in to the roots and lift them as you can do with a good hairdryer and a small brush.

But it definitely gives a much smoother finish, and it's much easier to dry the back (mine used to stay kinky and weird), plus it's much quicker and less tiring to dry the hair.

I've only used it twice, and, while I know I can get more volume and longer-lasting style using my hairdryer, this is so much more convenient I might even be prepared to wash my hair more often!

And it actually does look closer to a salon finish than anything I've ever managed to achieve in 30 years of blowdrying!

monkeysmama · 31/01/2011 14:25

I have lots of long hair but it's fine & dead straight. The BBH is ok but not amazing. I had a Remington dryer with a round brush that was smaller than the BBH and didn't rotate but gave me much more root volume.

MerryMarigold · 31/01/2011 14:26

I'm sold.

NeonCupcakes · 31/01/2011 14:28

Am thinking about one of these too. I have hair like MattsBatt. It doesn't just tend to frizz, I'm a total frizzhead naturally - GHD'd to within an inch of its life usually (well until there's a hint of drizzle, then it instantly frizzes up again).

Will BBH be any good? Will it still take me half an hour to sort it out with the BBH?

TotorosOcarina · 31/01/2011 14:30

I cannot blowdry my hair AT ALL.

You know that thing people do where they pull and turn a round brush whilst blowing it with the hairdryer, i cannot even hold a brush in one hand with aer in the other, I am useless.

Could I use this?!

NeonCupcakes · 31/01/2011 14:31

OK, my questions seem to have already been answered by MmeLindt.

How long does it last, WWWY? Don't mind redoing it every day, but not six times a day!

brimfull · 31/01/2011 14:31

yes a monkey could use bighair
eassy peasy

MattsBatt · 31/01/2011 14:32

OK, I'm getting a BBH.

Now where can I get hold of £50?

MmeLindt · 31/01/2011 14:32

Totoros
Yes, absolutely. It is really easy to use.

I agree that Big Hair is the wrong name. Sound better than Not Frizzy Hair though.

brimfull · 31/01/2011 14:33

if you have really really flat hair I would recommend using a volumising mousse as well as the big hair
I have double crown and need lift there so use ojon volumising mousse which is amaazing

MattsBatt · 31/01/2011 14:34

I've just reserved one at Argos. Still hunting for loose change though ...
