I seem to run out of everything at the same time, for some reason...

So - this weekend I need to look for:

  • a foundation (usually use Max Factor)
  • an under-eye concealer thingie (have been using No 7 but it's really not cutting the mustard anymore)
  • a lipstick (usually use Clinique Black Honey but it's a bit too dark for me now)
  • a grey eyeliner

Any ideas please? :)

Chanel or Lancome do it for me, although Clinique do a fab retractable eyebrow pencil.

BelligerentGhoul · 28/01/2011 22:46

I like Clinique eyeliners (don't use an eyebrow pencil) but they don't do one in the right shade of grey (or didn't last time I looked). I use Lancome mascara and like Lancome eyeliners but, again, they don't have the right shade of grey.

Never tried Chanel - the ladies scare me! What do you recommend?

Bobbi Brown under-eye concealer is excellent - worth looking at their eyeliners too. Also By Terry.

FunnysInTheGarden · 28/01/2011 23:08

Chanel sunlit foundation is lovely and really light. I also buy liquid eyeliner from Chanel. Lancome are good for mascara and lipgloss. Not sure about grey eyeliner or concealer though.

BelligerentGhoul · 28/01/2011 23:26

Thanks both. By Terry is too expensive for me, I'm afraid! Will look into BB and Chanel.

Any more?

my alltime favourite grey eyeliner is by Blinc. It's the most flattering grey i've ever used. If you are used to liquid. I did just get a nice grey pencil from Bourjois though

moragbellingham · 29/01/2011 09:36

Grey eyeliner - phonebook by MAC or Gunmetal by Urban Decay?

MrsMeow · 29/01/2011 10:39

I've tried millions of concealers and keep going back to Collection 2000 touche eclat copy, it's amazing and only about a fiver!

I use MAC foundation at the minute (studio fix) but tried a sample of Clinique doublewear light yesterday and was really impressed. It's not as heavy as the normal doublewear but the coverage is brilliant.

It's the Illuminating Touch one, Seven.

It's for undereyes I think, but I use it to cover spots and hide a couple of spot related scars Angry on my chin, and it's fantastic :)

Gillybobs · 29/01/2011 13:49

Has anyone tried new Rimmel Lasting Finish 25 hrs foundation? Absolutely AMAZING! I read about it in a magazine and ordered it from states via Ebay (paid £12 ) and noticed its now launched this week in UK and Tesco doing it for 1/3 off! (now under a £5....doh) Anyway, its amazing, gives lovely medium coverage, nice dewy effect and it BLOODY LASTS! Highly recommend

I think Clinique airbrush concealer is miles better than touche eclat (and a bit cheaper), Max Factor eye pencil in grey is brilliant, and I cant see past Bobbi Brown lipsticks for texture and lasting power

BelligerentGhoul · 29/01/2011 18:37

Urban Decay Gunmetal lovely but a bit too shiny for me. I bought Bourbon (brown) instead. Thanks. :)

Any more, folks?

Ooh - I could do with a new cleanser too. Usually use Olay Regenerist one. My skin is looking quite dull and drab but also a bit red around the nose in the cold! Gosh, I sound attractive!

MrsMeow · 30/01/2011 12:46

I have a cleanser fetish Blush

Liz Earle C&P is great BUT I find the Soap & Glory one just as good, and the Burts Bees one is amazing too.

I also get redness around my nose, and also dry patches. Gorgeous eh? Burts Bees day cream is really good though, although slightly greasy so I use it as a nightcream instead, unless I'm staying in and not putting make up on (like today)

Gillybobs · 30/01/2011 12:52

Cleanse and Polish is worty of its reputation. Not sure if it is the product or the muslin cloth but Ive never had better skin, much fewer spots and no dry patches

Forgot to say I think Bourjois products especially the eyeshadows and blushers are fantastic quality for the price

BelligerentGhoul · 30/01/2011 13:18

Thanks both.

I didn't get on with C&P, which gave me tiny spots under the skin. My skin isn't dry, just drab.

I used to use an Origins one (Never A Dull Moment???) which was okay but it was a long time ago.

Will investigate Soap And Glory (don't like the smell of the things I've looked at before though) and Burts bees (never tired anything of theirs).

BG, C&P gave me an awful breakout when I first used it, think it was all the mingingness coming to the surface! It soon cleared though, so it's worth perservering. Unless it was a rash you got, obviously!

BelligerentGhoul · 30/01/2011 13:30

I did carry on with it to nearly the end of the bottle - but it didn't really improve things. I still like to use muslin cloths though, when I remember. :)

OP posts:
MrsMeow · 30/01/2011 13:36

Muslin cloths are amazing for a bit of a debuffing aren't they? I find they work much better than the facial scrubs :) A flannel works just as well too if you forget to take a muslin in with you.

lololizzy · 30/01/2011 21:31

i love the muslin cloths but don't have washing machine! they say to wash every two days...guess i'll have to boil them up? how often do others wash them?

LaCerbiatta · 30/01/2011 21:41

Lololizzy: you don't have a washing machine? really?

lololizzy · 30/01/2011 21:49

no am i a complete peasant? Wink
Have moved to a small place /absolutely no room for one and nowhere to dry anyway. it would just make the flat damp to have stuff hanging around.
I lived in a very old very neglected by landlord house for 7 yrs and the plumbing there wasn't up to a washing machine (did try).
It is a pain. I don't have kids though..don't think i'd cope with the washing situation if did..is bad enough doing stepson's clothes in school hols

valiumredhead · 31/01/2011 17:32

Gillybobs

I bought the 25 hr foundation today after reading this thread ( and it was on offer Wink) It's GREAT!!! I loathe liquid foundations usually as they settle in my pores and highlight all the bits I want to disguise, so I am stunned this one is so good.

MoaningMedalllist · 31/01/2011 18:06

if you're a bit flushed -MAC its amazing

but gosh, good for eye stuff

rimmel, collection 200 pretty good for foundation

I have scarred skin need lotsa coverage so you'll look fine with it

BelligerentGhoul · 31/01/2011 19:28

What Mac stuff do you recommend? I have some of their eyeshadows and love them - but nothing else.
