Seriously researching the possibility of a children's clothes shop in my local, pretty affluent, town.
I know what I like - I have what borders on an obsession for nice children's clothes, but I'd like to canvas your opinions.
I would not want to stock any of the following brands, for varying reasons:
Joules
Oilily
Ikks
Pampolina
Jean Bourget
or any of the ridiculously expensive, froufrou designer brands (like D&G, Miss Dior etc)
I favour mid-priced, individual, age-appropriate clothes and am particularly partial to Scandinavian and French childrenswear.
Share your favourites with me (links to sites would be good)

I've bought some lovely stuff for DS1 (handed down to DS2!) from Petit Bateau.

I'm a big GAP fan and also stock up when I'm in the US (Gymboree / GAP / Carters)

All beautiful clothes, that you can buy online without the over heads and therefore the inflated prices of a bricks and mortar shop.

Icoulddoitbetter · 28/01/2011 21:37

Tesco, Sainsburys, George, Asda, Peacocks. Really don't see the point of spending anymore on something that will get grown out of in a few weeks, sorry!

hmmSleep · 28/01/2011 21:39

I have ridiculously slow growing small children Icoulddoitbetter, poor ds hasn't needed a new pair of shoes in over a year! People keep telling me I'm lucky as it saves me money.

vesela · 28/01/2011 21:47

DD is three, nearly four, and doesn't need any sports equipment atm - but I think I'm suffering from "this is the last year (or two) that she's going to want to wear lovely smocky old-fashioned dresses from Tulip and Nettle" syndrome!

and mamatomany, you have a good point - the thing about children's clothes is that if you buy them online and they're a bit too big, you know they'll fit next year. Plus four-year-olds don't try things on in changing rooms. So the big advantage of a brick-and-mortar store - seeing what fits well - is gone.

BertieBotts · 28/01/2011 21:56

I used to love mini mode stuff - the new mini club range isn't as nice :(

Carrie06 · 28/01/2011 21:56

icoulddoitbetter - I must also have a very slow growing DS as clothes last him for a few months, not weeks. Shoes are another issue and need changing every 3 months.

I like seeing him dressed up in nice clothes. I admit it's more for my benefit, not his and also for his shopaholic granny's. He does have quite a few things from cheaper stores (bought by in-laws) but I save them for nursery.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 28/01/2011 21:58

BertieBotts I think the new Boots range is a collaboration with Mothercare...says it all Sad

ValLongstreet · 28/01/2011 21:59

Sainsburys, Tesco, sometimes Asda, H&M for DD, occasionally M&S

hmmSleep · 28/01/2011 22:01

ilovegorgeous do beautiful clothes but ridiculously expensive, I have bought stuff from them in the past, but only with 70% off in the sales! Might be a bit flouncy for what you're looking for anyway.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 28/01/2011 22:01

Are people saying Sainsbos, Peacocks etc being thick or deliberately making a point, or a combination of both. Either way v. annoying.
