what moisturiser to use with rosacea ??

I am going to see my GP soon and try and get my skin complaint diagnosed, basically I think I have rosacea.

Am wondering if anyone else has it and what facial moisturisers they use ??

Currently I am trying a few different ones, mainly ones for sensitive skin but most seem to aggravate a little bit.

I am trying the Roche possay at the moment, tbh can't see any difference.

BelieveInLife · 26/01/2011 14:43

La Roche Posay or Dermalogica.

GrimmaTheNome · 26/01/2011 14:50

I don't - even at 50 I still make enough of my own oil and the rosacea cream is enough!

I tend to use clinique makeup, if I felt I needed a moisturiser I'd probably try them first.

SummerRain · 26/01/2011 15:21

another vote for La Roche Posay Rosaliac

fab stuff which really evens out the skin tone... broken veins are definitely reduced and although my face still has a bit of red ness it's more a rosy glow now as opposed to looking like a 50 year old alcoholic as I did before!

Plus it lasts ages and isn't wildly expensive which is a bonus Smile

Avene for Intolerant skin

A clinique person told me the most important thing was to use oil free products, plus sunscreen is vital. I use clinique superdefense spf25, but I use their sunblock when I go on holiday anywhere hot, with a bit of their fake tan mixed in every few days so I don't look like a ghost!

ecobatty · 26/01/2011 17:47

I use the rosacea care one, though I rarely need it tbh

SoapyBubbles · 26/01/2011 18:45

Your skin need oils, not no oils, try using something with Rosehip oil in it the more natural the better!

My vote is for Clinique redness solutions or Dr Hauscha

LionsAreScary · 26/01/2011 22:41

Have you tried the Liz Earle range? Mail order via their website - costs about £17 for a tube of moisturizer.

Their customer service people are good and not too 'salesy' - you could ring for some advice.

duvetheaven · 26/01/2011 22:55

Another vote for Origins Dr Weils - pricey but quite concentrated so lasts a while Smile

mummydarlingsausage · 27/01/2011 09:11

Eucerin Q10 anti redness night cream is excellent. I have been using it in the day aswell - my skin has improved loads.
I bought mine from boots

DuplicitousBitch · 27/01/2011 09:17

dr hauschka rose cream, clinique stuff used to make my skin worse

sparkle1977 · 27/01/2011 09:58

Thanks for all the advice, much appreciated. Will start trying the different ones suggested and see what works for me.

Do you all use more medicated creams etc prescribed by your GP too or just normal face creams ??

I am reading this thread with interest...I was diagnosed with Rosacea when I was 32 and it has definitely worsened since I had my babies Sad

Today when colouring in faces with DS1, just 4, he said he was going to do one red like Mummy´s because I have "red cheeks and a red chin". I was gutted and now feel more paranoid than ever.

My problem is there are soooo many products out there I just don´t know where to start. I have tried Dr Hauschka and Liz Earle but didn´t really find much improvement

Huge thanks exhaustednurse!!
Even worse is that living in Spain everybody has better skin, most ladies have beautiful olive complexions and there are certainly no red faces here, apart from my own that is!! I am mega conscious Sad

I am definitely going to try the Clinique make-up. I heard about the powder and I remember reading a while back that a yellow tone is better for redness than the usual green tone that is recommended.
I have never heard of the serum but I will make a note of the name and will ask about it next time I am back home in Manchester Smile There is a lovely Space NK in the Trafford Centre (drool!)

I have had some training from Neal's Yard and we are always advised to suggest rose based products for rosacea and I can see that follows through on some of the suggestions above. The added bonus of NY is that there are no chemicals or nasties in any of the creams so no chance of irritation from the product itself.

NYR have a gorgeous Rosehip oil which I use at night and I have seen such an improvement in my wrinkles since I started using it as it's really rejuvenating and soothing. There's also a lovely Wild Rose Beauty Balm, also based on Rosehip...as well as a whole rose range including face wash, toner, mask etc. Ask at any NYR shop for some free samples or look for a home seller like me near you who should have these products in their kit to give out as samples.
