I hate doing mine and am tempted to go to a salon twice a week to get it done and then straightened. Is this daft? Or do other people do it?

Hate having my hair messed around with, and I like to wash it every day, so I wouldn't bother.

But if you can afford it, why not?

OnEdge · 23/01/2011 00:24

If it was a fiver I would, but I reckon its about £11, can't justify it really, I hate washing my hair sooo much, its sucha a drama but im too fat for short hair.

get hold of a babyliss big hair, i am telling ya.

Northernlurker · 23/01/2011 00:29

I did it once when my hair was very long and I was feeling really down. Walked past an empty hairdressers and thought 'sod it'. They were a little surprised but did a lovely job combing it out and drying it - I left feeling amazing Grin I can't remember what it cost but it can't have been a lot - I was a student at the time.

FaffTastic · 23/01/2011 00:33

Only if its a big night out.

I need to wash my hair every 2 days so to look salon perfect I would need a trip to the salon 3 times a week. Unfortunately, time and funds do not allow.

Thank god I have heated rollers. And the babyliss big hair is great for when I fancy a straighter look.

OnEdge · 23/01/2011 01:26

Babyliss big hair ay ??? Hmm, is it good ?

doesn't it tangle up your doo ?

HollyBollyBooBoo · 23/01/2011 01:28

Salon never do it as well as I do - not being big headed but they just never listen to what I say I want.

FaffTastic · 23/01/2011 01:48

No, big hair doesn't tangle up your do. It really honestly is easy to use. It can take a couple of mins on the very first go to get the technique right but it really is very easy to use. Promise.

OnEdge · 23/01/2011 13:08

Right I'm getting one TODAY

Just before Xmas I had a frozen shoulder and it really depressed me-one of the many things I could not do was wash my long hair. For about three months once a week I had a wash and blow dry by students it cost £4 and saved my sanity-they did a really thorough job I look reasonably groomed and I would recommend you see if there is a teaching salon. They loved me as I under 60 so they could practise trendy blow drys

Meggles76 · 23/01/2011 14:02

As my salon charge £24 for a wash and blow dry - no Sad. Would love to if I could afford it though! So nice to have someone else wash and blow dry it and as they can do a better job than me, it lasts longer.

Bishoplyn · 23/01/2011 19:01

A lots of my friends get them done regularly. Costs £12-15 where I live.

One of my BFs swears by them for stress relief the way I go to reflexology - would be cheaper...Wink

5DollarShake · 23/01/2011 19:04

Second the babyliss big hair - it gives me at least as good a result as a salon blow dry.

zookeeper · 23/01/2011 19:06

Tell me more about Babyliss big hair - does it give you straight but full hair?

BalloonSlayer · 23/01/2011 19:10

Godalmighty Noooo

I have not had a decent blow dry for the last 10 years! Every time I get a hair cut I can't wait to get out of there and wash it myself and see what it really looks like instead of the flat frumpy horror they have spent 20 mins blow-drying with a very scratchy brush on to me. (And it takes me about 2 mins to dry my hair: what the fuck wattage are those hair salon hairdryers? They are like pointy fan heaters.)

Imagine paying for someone to make me look like Dot Cotton when I don't have to!

annapolly · 23/01/2011 19:10

I was sad when my DD left home, she is a level 3 hairdresser and beauty consultant.

That is the only thing I missed.Smile

BoffinMum · 23/01/2011 19:12

I did this once when I was very pg and fed up, and I looked pretty damn good for a while.

Balloon, I am not above grabbing the brush and showing them what I want. They are surprisingly good about this.

WincyEtNightie · 23/01/2011 19:14

Twice a week would do my head in (no pun intended)

I did discover this as a fab way to get ready for weddings etc though. My hairdresser does a mean curl using straighteners. And cheaper than a new outfit Smile

MrsSeanBean · 23/01/2011 19:45

Occasionally when I feel like perking up. I have naturally very frizzy hair and sometimes need to give my arms a rest!

hugebelly · 23/01/2011 19:56

I have it done once a week and it's £25. But then a cut in the local salons here are £50+. It is expensive, but I can't really put a price on having perfect hair once a week Grin

bounty007 · 23/01/2011 20:26

my v stylish DM has hers blow dried every Friday, she doesn;t wash her hair inbetween Shock..don't think its more than £15
Never seen her have a bad hair day

CameronCook · 23/01/2011 21:35

Our local College has a student salon - £4 to have a wash and blow dry.

doggydaft · 23/01/2011 21:39

I do it occasionally if I am going to a night out or am feeling really miserable-never fails to make me feel better.

Would love to be able to afford it 3x a week Envy
