Love love love that Freda top you linked to LTEC. Perfect for work or with jeans. Shame I am on self-imposed shopping ban, this thread is dangerous

ps: did you end up keeping those lovely See by Chloe peg trousers?

macmama · 20/01/2011 05:45

Have worked out my over the top January spend...

2 pairs Monkey genes skinnies (£25 each)
1 pair Firetrap biker boots (£50 I think)
1 pair goldsign bellbottoms (£30)
1 leopard print Asos cardigan (£12) - I love it but might return as it has a hole already
Sparkle and Fade shorts (£20)
People tree top (£7)
Kimchi and Blue blouse - (£20)
Cecily Jones polka dot sleeveless top - (£6)
vero moda black cropped collarless jacket (£18)
Great Plains brown cowl neck blouse (£18 I think)
River Island ruched Grey lace dress (£7.99)

So about £250 or just under!

macmama · 20/01/2011 05:46

oh yes and a UO skinny belt - £5

Zembo · 20/01/2011 06:39

Morning Macmama - glad to see you're working hard Grin

NY really sorry to hear about your friend. Agree with the no flowers thing (not at the moment anyway, perhaps later). I was sent lots of flowers post-MC but I actually found it quite depressing. Sounds ungrateful and it wasn't that, I was grateful, but it just felt a bit death-like. I'd also have preferred lovely colourful flowers rather than white ones Also I'm sure you won't forget her DS who will hate to see his DM unwell.

Oooh and Esher do you exercise? Well known for anti-ageing properties. The whole getting older thing is a shock. I don't see a very nearly 40 year old when I look in the mirror but I'm lucky in that getting older really doesn't bother me. I'm told I look young for my age, but that's just down to my Asian brown skin....sorry need to go, back later!!

macmama · 20/01/2011 06:48

I know Zembo - so easily distracted what is the point of this lark thing if I don't knuckle down Grin

Actually have made a very good start on my task so feeling ok

LetThemEatCake · 20/01/2011 06:50

have studiously avoided MN on Op Lark this morning as had to cram a fair bit in before meeting this morning (plus a bit of grooming - need to actually get dressed in something other than jeans and sweater before nursery run - and have reasonably tidy hair eeek!)

anyway, hair done, work done, coffee made, dc still asleep

and then I see this in the NaP sale which I really think deserves to belong to somebody on this thread.

I'll leave you with it Wink

have good days

macmama · 20/01/2011 06:54

So sensible Cake. I should have followed suit then I might have finished my job already.
I am on 2nd coffee but DD2 is now awake and trashing my papers as we speak Grin. Luckily she is cute enough to get away with it and keeps saying "mama" very sweetly.

LOVE that dress and think it would suit me Grin - you are so dangerous with your links!

Anyway chaos of school run and commute etc awake - enjoy your days everyone - good meeting LTEC/

traceybath · 20/01/2011 07:02

So many early birds - it used to be just me and zembo Smile

NY - your poor friend. Some lovely suggestions - books may also be a good idea - I'm loving the Cazalet Chronicles at the moment - easy escapism or something like Downton Abbey box set perhaps.

Still feeling rubbish - off to buy rice milk and soya milk as am going to try dairy free along with stuff I'm collecting from the Drs today.

Sorry so many people have nose issues though.

macmama · 20/01/2011 07:08

Before I go tracey i am dairy free (and also DD1 is allergic) and my thighs have never been thinner so there might be a positive spin off (not that you seem to need it)! Don't forget that dairy is in pretty much all bakery (unless you make it yourself with dairy free marg) and obviously chocolate (unless proper dark chocolate), most processed foods (even flavoured crisps whether or not "cheese" flavoured). II was amazed at how often I had to turn food down TBH - I didn't realise how much dairy I ate until I gave it up.

PErsonally I prefer rice milk (with calcium) to soya and the DDs and I eat soya yoghurt by the truckload

Swedish Glace ice cream is lovely dairy free treat

notyummy · 20/01/2011 07:08

Morning all. Feeling better today - finally. Hurray!

LTEC- that jumper you linked to made me Grin. particularly where it says 'subtly' distressed on the description. Eh? It's got big fecking holes in it!

Packing to do later for girls weekend away in Manchester. Key elements will be gym wear, bikini, (there is good gym and spa), assorted jeans and tops, plus leopard maxi I wore to Selfridges meet-up. Oh and a bottle of bubbly!!

mrsjuan · 20/01/2011 07:54

MOrning all,
Glad your're feeling better ny but so sorry to hear about your friends. One of our friends(much older) has been having cancer treatment and we made them some meals to put in the freezer because on the days he was going to and from the hospital they didn't get time to prepare food. A cleaner sounds like a lovely idea too. If you did want to give her some flowers you could choose some of those ones that are prearranged in their own vase. I really hope she responses well to the treatment and gets better soon.

Very wise words from everyone on the ageing / beauty thing. I will 'only' be 30 this year and still feel about 19 in my head - definitely don't feel properly grown up.
Fleecy-i'm sure I've seen photos of you in a bikini and thought 'wow'! So no need to worry about Your stomach.

On the subject of photos: oooh- no one in their right mind is going to put a photo of themselves looking uggers on a forum full of beauties Grin. Selection is key.

Tracey- hope the sprays etc. help with your sinuses. You have hay fever in the summer don't you? I wonder if it is linked to that? I have got a massive bump in my nose caused by me falling off my chair and pulling a desk onto my face at school (let that be a lesson to not rock on your chairs!) M

mrsjuan · 20/01/2011 07:58

Aghh- posted too soon. Was going to say that have considered a nose job about once a year ever since but don't think I'll ever go through with it.

I suppose I'd better go and get dd up. She came home from nursery shattered last night and has been asleep since 6!

LetThemEatCake · 20/01/2011 08:22

having sent back that annoying Outnet white vest top I would be perfectly well within my rights to buy this for summer wouldn't I?

not until February though! Grin

mrsjuan · 20/01/2011 08:28

I am so stupid! I have been hiding the receipt for the hh dress so that dh didn't realise I'd fibbed about the price. Not that he would even care Confused i remember moving it to a different hiding place the other day and now I can't find it. Any ideas?

mrsjuan · 20/01/2011 08:29

That's pretty cake. You are definitely allowed to buy it.

Romanholiday · 20/01/2011 08:41

Grin mrsjuan. Knicker drawer? Somewhere amongst makeup? Inside a sock? In tampax box?

Ny so sorry to hear about your friend. I agree that practical things very good if she's going to be feeling v.unwell and scared and has a dc to look after too. Can you take round something cooked and freezeable (in disposable container that she doesn't have to worry about washing and returning). Nice skincare sounds good - you can ask somewhere on mn what good things would be.

I would recommend her to come on mn too if she doesn't already as she will be able to find a lot of people who have had her experience and will be able to tell all about what actually happens at hospital etc, and will have access to masses of advice about helping dc cope, not to mention links to support groups and good books. I think calling her often to give her a shoulder to cry on as and when would also be very nice.

mrsjuan · 20/01/2011 08:58

Roman- do you know me? Grin The first 2 places i hid it were my knicker drawer and then my make up drawer! But luckily I have found it at the back of my bedside cabinet drawer. phew!

Mumsnut · 20/01/2011 09:00

The high point of last year was realising I was only 48, not 49, as I had somehow thought. So not I'm only looking old, but losing my faculties ...

Romanholiday · 20/01/2011 09:12

rofl Mumsnut

I dunno how old I look. I expect about 38yo, funnily enough, but like a well-kept 38yo. That's OK with me though. Lots of things I'd change about myself if I could, but there's nothing dreadful. I look OK naked as boobs too small to droop much, generally I'm skinny, and tummy looks the same as before dc provided I stand up very straight. I would def look better if I shredded though.

I sometimes wonder whether I would have a less stuffy nose if I gave up dairy. Is is worth just giving up obvious dairy to see whether that helps? Ie no milk, cream, yoghurt, but not worrying about things having butter in or a dash of something. Or is that pointless? I can't bear the thought of fussing around about ingredients at people's houses or in restaurants, I would find myself too annoying.

Romanholiday · 20/01/2011 09:20

Parisiennes this photo blog is lovely

traceybath · 20/01/2011 09:36

Yangy - do you take a calcium supplement and if so which one please? Smile

I think I look older than I am as do not have good genes - my mother looks much older than she is but smokes which thankfully I've never done.

Mumsnut - thats just the type of thing I'd do Smile

My babyliss has just arrived (OWW, Fritzi, Bonsoir have you noticed you now get free delivery from Amazon.co.uk - I ordered on Monday and everything came today). Will report back tomorrow.

PlumSykes · 20/01/2011 09:54

Does anyone have a recent copy of Red to hand? Have binned all mine in over-zealous decluttering spree. I want to know the name of the online/website editor, if you do.
