What colours go with pale pink?

I bought this fabric today www.tessuti-shop.com/products/queens-quartz, planning to make a summer dress but then started to think that I probably have enough dresses and that it would make a nice autumn blouse. Only problem is I can't work out what colour skirt it would go with. Any suggestions would be appreciated

I spent most of my 20s ( now decades ago) wearing black and pink and I now wonder WHY Shock !

Anything "goes" with black as it is a non colour but does black bring out the best in the other colour? No.

tethersend · 31/12/2010 16:10

I bet you looked brilliant in your 20s.

I have studied colour theory, and have concluded that it is mostly bollocks.

Black and pale pink goes.

bluejeans · 31/12/2010 16:13

I love brown and pale pink. My sister hates brown clothes however, and always tells me 'nobody ever pulled in brown'....

cabbageroses · 31/12/2010 16:17

well we shall have to agree to disagree.
when I think of all the black skirts and trousers I wore with pale pink blouses or jumpers, I just think "HOW unimaginative!"

Would you put a black carpet in a room with lovely pale pink silky curtains? Or a black sofa with pale pink cushions?

Or would you put a carpet with in a soft mushroom, silver grey or cream?
No brainer to me Smile

SantasENormaSnob · 31/12/2010 16:18

Chocolate brown would be my first choice. Followed by grey then black then navy.

ThatllDoPig · 31/12/2010 16:19

Yes, I like browns and black with pale pink too. lovely contrast.

ThatllDoPig · 31/12/2010 16:19

But not navy

MerryMarigold · 31/12/2010 16:23

I would say brown cord! I don't think it's a black and pink kind of pink, it looks (on my computer) a slightly peachy pink which would look awful with black.

MerryMarigold · 31/12/2010 16:25

Or grey wool

traceybath · 31/12/2010 16:25

Black and pale pink as in the AP packaging is tres chic.

Plonks herself down with Tethers Wink

scattyspice · 31/12/2010 16:27

Denim Hmm

dexter73 · 31/12/2010 16:29

I think black would go with that colour. I have seen a lot of dresses recently that are black lace with a pale pink slip underneath.

cabbageroses · 31/12/2010 16:29

Tracy B I am shocked at you Shock I always thought you were very stylish and had impeccable taste. What's happened today?

minipie · 31/12/2010 16:30

I would say most greys would go.

Black would be ok. I'm not a big fan of brown and pink though I know it's a "recognised" combination.

Darkish denim would look good I think.

traceybath · 31/12/2010 16:32

look pale pink with black trim - lovely Smile

I also think pale pink and black is very coco chanel but thats possibly just my imagination Wink

But you know black polyester slacks and a pale pink nylon blouse - not such a good look Wink

dexter73 · 31/12/2010 16:33

I think this looks nice.

traceybath · 31/12/2010 16:33

Oh and khaki looks nice with pale pink. I've got a shirt in that peachy/pink colour and wore it a lot last summer with khaki coloured trousers.

And despite my blathering about black - I actually only ever wear black with black [edges closer to cabbages]

FattyArbuckel · 31/12/2010 16:36

Brown, black, mint or cream will all look good - also silvery grey

tethersend · 31/12/2010 16:39

Cabbage, my living room is painted black Grin & I have a burnt orange leather sofa. I am 1970s obsessed though, so my house is like a timewarp.

I may make some pale pink cushions just to prove a point Wink

I wouldn't allow soft mushroom through my front door unless it was clothing. It's very bleh in the house IMO.

Anyway, agree to disagree, yes.

I think it would look divine with black.

Chanel agrees with me

tethersend · 31/12/2010 16:41

x post with about a thousand people- including tracey who is a GENIUS.

traceybath · 31/12/2010 16:41

Loving 'chanel agrees with me' Grin And I knew it had chanel-connotations. [slides back towards tethers]

tethersend · 31/12/2010 16:41

And Dexter. And Fatty.

panettoinydog · 31/12/2010 16:45

dark grey
brown

cabbageroses · 31/12/2010 16:45

well, that says it all Tether.

I now see why you think that black would look okay.

And the AP look cheap. Tarty. Not nice.

tethersend · 31/12/2010 16:49

Oh dear cabbage- don't be upset. It's not easy being right all the time, you know.

You can come round for a spot of fondue if you like to make it up? Bit of Arctic roll?
