You have saved me ladies. The colour is gorgeous, but I really don't know how much I would wear it....and LTEC - my DH said pretty much the same thing about the draping!!

Thanks for all the updates for the meet-up list. Will repost tomorrow for reference.

We had a 'legs crossed' injury here today- poor DD Sad. She was balancing on her wooden bedhead so she could see out if the window, when she slipped and fell on to the narrow bedhead with legs either side and her crotch taking full force. She was hysterical, and I had a look- poor little thing has big scrape on inner thigh but also swollen and bleeding genitals. Managed to clean and apply sudocream, but every wee is torture and I have been pouring jug of water over her nits whilst she wees as I remember this helped following birth. It seems to be getting better- DH managed to talk her through a wee tonight without water or tears - by using my birth breathing techniques he used in the delivery room!!

notyummy · 03/01/2011 21:32

Over her bits whilst she wees. Luckily I am not compounding the indignity by pouring water over any head infestation. Hmm

OllieWollieWoo · 03/01/2011 21:33

Ooooh NY - poor little NY! Ouch, ouch, ouch! (Mr NY retains W&A Man of the Month award btw!)

pickledsiblings · 03/01/2011 21:35

Oh, meant to say, I eventually settled on this bed for DD. Thanks to those of you who advised against an upholstered one - wise indeed.

I now need help with shelves for the boy's room. We are toying with apple crates but I'm not sure if it's a bit 'faddy'. Something to run along the wall the length of the bed IYKWIM and not too deep (30 cms max). Does anyone have anything similar?

OWW, I've been to the Hague - was very impressed, especially with miniature world Grin. How long have you been there?

pickledsiblings · 03/01/2011 21:36

Oops, 5 years, I know

hellsbelles · 03/01/2011 21:36

OMG - poor little thing!

pickledsiblings · 03/01/2011 21:37

It takes me a bout 5 years to get settled in a place. You sound settled OWW.

pickledsiblings · 03/01/2011 21:40

Jto say NY, I had written and posted my post about DD's bed before I read you post about you poor DD Blush.

loobylu3 · 03/01/2011 21:41

Thank you v much for opinions on dresses.
As I said, I have only bought no.1 so far but it is a size 1 and I think I would probably be more comfortable in a size 2. The only online place I can see stocking it is asos, where it is still full price (paid half price in JL). Anyway, will probably try it on again later and decide.

tracey- you wondered what I wanted a dress for and thought I could find something nicer. I kind of tried it on on impulse. I don't really have an evening dress. (Well, I do- a dress that it more than 10 years old bought pre DC from Hobbs (v pretty but pretty old) and another old Nicole Farhi one that is too small and a Coast one that I never found a flattering bra to wear with)!
Was thinking that I may need a pretty dress at some point and was kind of wanting to come to the meet up and don't really have anything to wear Blush

We were away and I have therefore been v slow off the mark with the sales, etc but if you do have any bright ideas, would be happy to hear them :)

NY- I'm not overly keen on the dress tbh. It wouln't be about your age but it just looks v revealing to be- you would need a fabulous bust and chest area to wear it (of course, you may well have a fabulous figure- I guess I am thinking of myself)!!

hellsbelles · 03/01/2011 21:42

oh - also meant to say another thank you for Mayoral coat recomendation for DD (MM, Fleecy and Carciofi - I think..sorry if I missed someone). She gets compliments on it every single day. It's such a beautiful colour. I want one for myself Grin

OllieWollieWoo · 03/01/2011 21:42

Pickled - I've been here for just over 5 years. Mauduradam (sp?) is v funny!

Would these Ikea shelves so the job?
here - or did you want something more rustic along the lines of crates?

OllieWollieWoo · 03/01/2011 21:44

Do the job - not so the job!

loobylu3 · 03/01/2011 21:44

Ouch, poor DD, NY :(

DTI10 · 03/01/2011 21:47

ny - how awful for your DD. Hope she feels better very, very soon Sad.

pickledsiblings · 03/01/2011 21:47

OWW, how funny, that Billy shelf is the closest we have come to what we want but DH would like something backless. He's a fussy so and so.

pickledsiblings · 03/01/2011 21:50

I knew what you meant OWW. Did you see my post of 21:40? Flustered or what. How ill-timed was my post of 21:35? BlushBlush.

blossoming · 03/01/2011 21:53

This is so exciting. I am on the new laptop. Downstairs!!
Finally talked dh round to letting me use it remotely. Long story but I was supposed to be getting a notebook in the sales, but because our pc died before Christmas we had to get a family one instead. So I said, does that mean when you're working from home I can take the new laptop to another room (he has a work one). Anyway, he's sorted it out, which means I'll be able to click on links of an evening, instead of you thinking I'm being rude!

notyummy, your poor dd. But gold star to your dh. Again.

OllieWollieWoo · 03/01/2011 22:06

Pickled - backless but is this too chunky?
here

Next has a set of blue box cubes which are nice but prob too small for what you need? here

Off to bed now!

pickledsiblings · 03/01/2011 22:09

Thanks OWW, goodnight.

eshermummy · 03/01/2011 22:21

NY oh my goodness your poor dd, that sounds horrible Sad. I think I would have cried from the shock if something like that happened to one of mine, how awful for you.

NY I like the colour of the dress but agree with others that the bottom half is a bit shapeless. Funnily enough I am not much of a fan of one shouldered but my sister bought this for NYE and although I have only seen the FB photos (she is in USA) I think it looks lovely on and is reminiscent of the one you linked to.

What do you think about this puffa coat please?
I have not seen this or the GD one I was considering in rl but I can get the Jaeger delivered instore to CW where DH will collect so no delivery charges.
I don't think the GD will come back into stock now and their returns policy is too harsh to buy without trying on in person.

Have made a few, ahem, extra sale purchases

ballerinas for spring(in the red leopard)

blouse I got the yellow as would like to wear with black evening skirt and cream blouse with black skirt = waitress no?

I am also still waiting for a whistles and an ASOS parcel.

Who was it who wanted a heavier/knitted version of the springtime blazer for now ? I have ordered this from Whistles with much the same idea in mind although I have since seen in rl and was a bit underwhelmed so will report back. (sold out on website but is £35 now instore!!)

Have also ordered a whistles long sleeve top with little diamente crystals all over which again looked good and bargainous online (disappeared now so can't link) but have since seen in rl and is much shorter/more fitted than I thought so now not sure it is what I wanted but we shall see....

After all this, I think I will have to sit on my hands for the whole of January although am sure I can be persuaded to make a birthday purchase Grin. As long as I am allowed to take it/send it back again.... wouldn't feel like a W&A purchase for me if I didn't Smile

GeorginaWorsley · 03/01/2011 22:27

pickled am looking at the Mint Velvet Shani tunic myself.Agree re back should be same a sfront though!

eshermummy · 03/01/2011 22:27

Meant to say, I have an additional interest in checking out One New Change as I used to work in that building when it was boring law firm offices, before it was redeveloped.
LTEC I saw the pics of you there on FB and noticed and thought I recognised the lovely London skyline views but couldn't think why it looked so familiar when I didn't know the restaurant at all! All makes sense now Smile

notyummy · 03/01/2011 22:37

Pickled - Don't worry about the bed post!! Just don't straddle the bedhead when falling heavily whatever you do.... [whince emoticon]

Esher - I struggle a bit with the concept of puffa coats - mainly because I am tall and not skinny, so I feel too big all over in them, and I think this colours my view. You are much more ladylike than me, and would almost certainly look great in either of them. Like the belts on both. The yellow silk top is lovely.

bunnymother · 03/01/2011 22:52

Am falling behind! Stop posting so quickly, Wise Ladies!

Carciofi - fashion snap! I also have the North Face Greenland jacket - so so warm. BTW where did you move to?

MrsJuan - oh so sorry to hear about old doggo - they really are members of the family, so I don't understand how one could be less than devastated about losing a much loved pet. We still talk about big old handsome Tom (cat) in loving tones. He was magnificent (portly, calm and silent - great qualities in a cat). When he died, my brother cried (only time I have ever known him to cry, once past childhood).

Plum - fellow trich. sufferer here - only its eyelashes with me Blush, have been struggling with it since I was 12 - most of my life. Incredibly hard to beat, so I just try to keep it under control. I never talk about it in RL.

Vin - YES child related velcro is super destructive - many of my things have fallen foul of it - maddening! Esp bad w stockings.

Looby - I like the star earrings, lovely. The rings don't really move me, to be honest. But I have traditional taste in jewellery (and everything else...). And I reallyy like dress 1. 2 is OK IMO.

Bonsoir - art deco apartment? Sounds beautiful! Do you know what would go perfectly with your home? A Cartier art deco diamond bracelet - it would look wonderful in every single room. I can't even talk about DH and his domestic "efforts".

Re DH/DPs and their clothes, I buy pretty much all of DH's clothes now (oh God doesn't that sound like I am his mother - yuck). Shopping makes him break out in a bad mood. So I email him links or buy and return what he doesn't like (50/50 hit rate). He knows his own mind so can't be tricked, but there has been some improvement ie no more dressing like a skater Grin. To be fair, I have glammed up a lot since we got together, so its mutual improvement.

notyummy - I love your posts - always so witty - they make me smile. I am coming to the meet-up. Oh your poor little girl!!! Ouch ouch ouch! Arnica tablets to help any bruising?

esher and everything - I used to dislike driving, but then realised its just an intersection by intersection thing. Definitely something that gets easier each time you do it, until it becomes sort of natural. Make sure you choose a car you are comfortable in, though, when learning.

Esher - hmm, think Jaeger puffa is too shiny. Love your sister's red dress, although hmm about the model's poses! Love the LK blouse.

For those of you in London with young DCs, I can't recommend the Science Museum highly enough. DH and I went there on Fri w DD1 and then again today (left babies w Wonder Nanny who was virtually jumping w joy at opportunity to snuggle with them Smile) and had a fantastic time both days. So lucky to have it available to us.

bunnymother · 03/01/2011 22:54

This post took the 2 HOURS that the babies have been feeding - they have been eating almost continuously for the last few days. Goodness me! Am assuming they are about to double in size.
