Quick hello from me as we are about to head out to look at sofas (exciting Wink).

My best buy was my Current/Elliott skinny jeans and Russell and Bromley red biker boots, I wear them at least 3 times a week.

PetitDonkey, my friend had a personal shopper come to her house, go through her wardrobe and take her shopping. I think this woman works at Harpers Bazaar and is in SW London. My friend now has a fab wardrobe that she loves. I can try to get her details if you like.

blossoming · 29/12/2010 12:10

donkey, I steal ideas from netaporter: hover the mouse over, say a pair of jeans and see how they've styled it. Copy the look first in high street before committing to £££ spend. This year I have bought ££ Jbrand 91210s from NAP after getting the cheapo m&s ones first. I like m&s autograph for day (but I'm 40), plus Boden, Jigsaw. I have a uniform of skinny jeans and long sleeve stripey tops, merino knitwear, knitted dresses over jeggings (phase 8 this time). I'm a slight hourglass, so I like things to go in at the waist, or to finish at waist. This past season I've also loved the styling in the Boden and the Pure catalogue. Classic styling best suited for my figure I suppose.

Posting from Westfield so not read thread. There is NOTHING for 2 year old girls left in Zara. Oh, bar 1 average dress. Am v disappointed, DH thinks this is a good result (no spending). Hmm Little does he know that there are other Zara stores available to me...

You are all so lovely - thanks Smile

blossoming - I do look through NAP but they are not really styled on curvy girls! Great idea to try and find the look on the high street first.
I think that the mistake I have been making is admiring friends who look good but ignoring the fact that they have totally different body shapes to mine.

I will look through all the links - vinvino - have taken the first step and ordered the jeans but have gone for a 30 as there is no way I'd get in a 28 and 29 are out of stock. I also love blazers so am looking forward to spring to ditch the heavy coats!

carciofi - that sounds perfect, if she will travel to the depths of Kent, I would def be interested.

I am going to try to find time in the new year to strip my wardrobe of everything I don't like so that I don't have that frustrating 'tons of clothes but nothing to wear feeling'.

Next step, do I cut my hair off......?

vin Any news on laptop recovery?

carciofi Will be furniture shopping this afternoon too. We need a new bed. Similar new year resolution to bonsoir Wink.

petitdonkey Have you tried wrap dresses? If you style them with opaques and boots it won't look too formal. What colours do you like? Second colour consultation. Feel so much happier with my wardrobe now that I know what suits me best. Also makes shopping a lot easier. Isn't everything an hourglass too? Maybe she could advise?

bunny Sorry to hear that first shopping trip with twins is such a disappointment. Couldn't you just order online from Zara for DD and have a look for something nice for yourself? Or just enjoy a coffee/meal with DH?

Have (briefly) put a picture on my profile - thought I looked nice in that dress but from that angle, my backside is HUUGE!!

I do like wrap dresses but I want to try and find something a bit more fashionable rather than classic (just a bit!!).

FritziGreenEyes · 29/12/2010 12:46

petitdonkey You look gorgeous! Don't cut your hair. Think that colour really suits you. Maybe you are a winter. What do you think bloss?

Wow! Very glamourous. I have a similar bust size but mine look nothing like that! Envy.

I think you are wise focusing on anglomania as I do think her things are cut well for busts! We are all fans of the Janice dress (phase 8) which is a similar sort of style but a LOT cheaper Grin here

I think the advice already given is fab. I would add that I have found v neck sweaters (cashmere - uniglo is decent price) work well on a larger bust and can look good with jeans. Also layering seems to smooth out the lines that curves create...splendid and american vintage do really sheer layers that don't create bulk.

Gosh positively tropical today! Am in tshirt (Breton natch) and leopard pumps, no sockettes!!

Plus h&m statement necklace bling, red coat and jeans. Such WIT!!

hellsbelles · 29/12/2010 13:16

DH has come up trumps and said 'why don't you go out for a bit'...so I've booked a pedicure and I'm off at 3pm - hurrah!

I am determined this year to be more groomed. DH is so tolerant of my hippy habits - but I need to make more effort.

Petit - I agree that your hair is beautiful - and you have so many options with that length

hellsbelles · 29/12/2010 13:17

are you going to get the stripy jumper Cake so we can be matchy matchy Grin.

LetThemEatCake · 29/12/2010 13:20

Oooh yes petit you are lovely

(on iPhone, supposed to be working in cafe while dh entertains children in park, tra la la. Have done quite a lot already though, honest)

Hells are you keeping your Marant sweater? What size should I get, if I get?

LetThemEatCake · 29/12/2010 13:21

X post!!

LetThemEatCake · 29/12/2010 13:23

I lol'ed when I saw that your dd has same grey knit dress as mine. I want photo of you in red paul and Joe with b in her grey h&m so I can stand it next to pic of p and I in exact same garb!!

Fleecy · 29/12/2010 13:24

petitdonkey you look fab! I would agree with others about keeping your hair longer. It looks beautifully glossy - plus longer hair is much more versatile.

cake snap - Breton, skinnies, leopard flats here too but Breton is red/white Zara one. Think you have the same one but in blue?

hells have I missed your links? I remember you saying you'd link later but wasn't sure if you had and I'd managed to go straight past or you hadn't linked yet?

FritziGreenEyes · 29/12/2010 13:26

cake Get the Marant sweater, it's lovely! Your outfit sounds perfect for working from a coffee shop. So urban, I love it. I'm still in snow boots and down coat, brrr.

hells Enjoy your afternoon!

Fleecy · 29/12/2010 13:33

It always makes me Smile that hells is so self-deprecating about her style and such a fan of cake's when they actually both often buy the same thing independently!

hells I think you should give yourself a bit more credit as you clearly both have excellent taste!

cake I do that sometimes - DH is watching the children and I'm supposed to be working but just taking a leeeetle break...

hellsbelles · 29/12/2010 13:44

fleecy - you are very kind...but honestly I've just learnt loads and loads from you lot - that's why I'm getting better at it.

LTEC - I am keeping it - though I'm concerned that it looks like a slightly cooler version of the christmas jumper my DM used to wear Grin. I've gone for a fitted look so I got size 1 (though it makes my chest look generous!)...so I guess you should try size 0 as you are slimmer than me. But maybe order the 1 as well to see if you like a baggier look better.
