(Just posted this on the other skirts thread, but copying over to here too in the hope of some help): What sort of boots do you wear? I feel a bit old-fashioned in knee-high boots, but heeled ankle boots with an above-the-knee skirt looks a bit young for me for daytime, whereas flat ankle boots make my legs look too chunky.

I like skirts and would wear them more but I have trouble finding them that fit nicely and stay in place (i.e not swivel round while I am wearing them - soo irritating) and have a dearth of tops to go with them.

I am tallish at 5' 8" have a porky curvy figure and a long body - so dresses are usually easier to wear as I can just chuck a cardi on top - but I do have some lovely skirts I would like to wear more.

In this cold weather knee boots skinny jeans and a tunic are also easy to wear though - tbh it is in the summer that I struggle. Maybe it is an age thing as I am now over 35. Finding flattering jeans are like some mythical quest and I am on a life long mission - perhaps before I die I will possess the jeans... Hmm

Regarding tops, I have a shelf full of jersey t-shirts in various colours (Uinqlo is your friend) and 3 cardigans in black, navy and charcoal. I generally wear a patterned/coloured skirt, a t-shirt in complementing colour (or I layer two t-shirts in contrasting colours), one of the cardigans (which ties the outfit together as it's a neutral shade) and bob's your uncle. Accesorise with scarf and/or statement necklace. Ta-dah Xmas Smile

When i left teaching I made a positive choice to be neater at work. Even though i work in a university and jeans are fine, I find wearing skirts means I get taken a little more seriously.

these are my standby I wear the knee length red poppy and green dragonfly and have my eye on the lifesavers next. I also like a pencil skirt as I have found, much to my surprise, that the shape suits me. (am a rather large munter)

i wear skirts more than i used to. In the school where i work they are worn more than at my last school and i like wearing them with Boots.

I find trousers hard to buy as i am long waisted and since Principles closed i haven't found any that are very comfy. wallis are ok but not great.

I live in dresses, I never wear my jeans any more- and I used to live in them pre-children!
