Anyone had Brazilian Keratin treatment?

Has anyone got any experiences to share, good or bad? I'm about to spend lots of money on this to try and change my frizzy hair into smooth, straight hair that I can just wash and leave. Is this just wishful thinking?

I haven't but will watch with interest as I'm keen on the sound of it and have been pondering whether to go for it for a while ...

hellsbelles · 28/11/2010 16:29

one of my friends has had it and is thrilled with the result. She had frizzy hair before and it's now sleek and fabulous!

Tinasan · 28/11/2010 17:20

Yes I've had it and would highly recommend it. Worked wonders on my frizzy, bleached hair and lasted about four months. Need to save up to have it done again!

ravenlocks · 28/11/2010 21:30

I have. Wonderful so far (been a week and a half). Can't stop touching my hair as so soft and silky.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 29/11/2010 00:49

What exactly is it? What do they do? How long does it take and how much does it cost?

flumperoo · 29/11/2010 11:01

Thanks for the replies.

Holly, there's some info here. It sounds too good to be true, so it's good to get some positive reviews other than those in advertisements.

Those who have had the treatment, how long did you wait before washing your hair after having it done?

This looks great! How much does it cost????

post · 29/11/2010 13:42

I'm so interested in this, but my roots do need colour touch-ups every 4-6 weeks. Would I be able to do it with the brazilian treatment? And what happens when it grows out, do you have dead straight ends and curly/ frizzy roots?

trice · 29/11/2010 13:44

You can buy diy kits on ebay. But you need a friend to help you do it. And you need an extraction fan as the fumes are carcinogenic.

flumperoo · 10/12/2010 08:04

rubyrubyruby, have you had it done yet? How long could you not wash it for? Was it awful waiting? What is your hair like now? What's your verdict Grin

are there arny chains of salons that do them - none of my local ones seem to do them....

ChippedChinaTeacup · 10/12/2010 08:35

I have very very dry, curly, frizzy hair, had it done last week and now my hair is silky, bouncy, shiny and falls in big soft waves. I love it!

Couldn't wash it for three days and had to be careful about getting any kinks in it for that time, then I went back to the salon and they washed and blow dried it for me and gave me bottle of shampoo and conditioner to use for it. I googled those and they were over £40 if I had to buy them.

Was all part of the package which was £250 [gulp] but if it lasts the 4-6 months they said it would then it's worth it.

QuickLookBusySanta · 10/12/2010 08:46

A friend had it done and it looked rather strange!!

Chandon · 10/12/2010 09:09

in which way strange???

QuickLookBusySanta · 10/12/2010 10:21

Chandon it's very hard to describe, but she had very frizzy hair, now she still has the same overall volume of hair but it is straight, I couldnt stop looking at itXmas Blush

About 50% of her friends think its brill, the other 50% are with me. Though I told her I liked it, cos I'm a chicken and I can see she loves her new hair.

Also was very Xmas Shock when she told me she'd had a "brazilian hair treatment" cos I thought she was talking about something else!!

Monadami · 10/12/2010 12:40

Yes and I think it's far too expensive, think I'll stick to my texturising treatments for straightening.

methodsandmaterials · 10/12/2010 12:45

It didn't do anything for my hair but I know of others for whom it has been "life-changing".

I paid £80 - love it.
It really does look like a permanent blow dry.

Cicatrice · 10/12/2010 21:46

I had it and it did last 5 months ish. could jsut wash and leave it to dry or blast it dry. It was actually too straight for me to begin with but that wore off. I think that the shampoo and conditioner they give you helps to make it last. I'm still using it now and my hair still seems easier to deal with than before I had it done.

But it cost me £250 so it should be a dramatic difference!

I've had it. There's no way I would pay full price for it since I don't think its worth £225 but I paid £60 for mine and that's fine. I like it, my hair is very shiney and when I dry it it looks like its been straightened even though I've just blasted it with the dryer. Two of my friends have had it with far more dramatic results since their hair was dry and frizzy to start with whereas mine was quite straight and shiney anyway.
It does mean my hair needs washing far more frequently (every day really) since it gets greasy and heavy very quickly now.

I had braziliana. No bad smells or harsh chemicals.
